I am so grateful for the opportunity that you have given me at this school. I have achieved and experienced so many things all thanks to you. At Latymer, I have found parts of myself that I thought I never had, met friends that I would never have expected to befriend, learnt things I never knew I would. My life would be incomplete without the Latymer community. BURSARY RECIPIENT, YEAR 8

Letter from the Head Director after 17 years of unparalleled service. Amanda embodies the Latymerian values of access and excellence. Her legacy is nothing short of revolutionary: during her tenure, the proportion of students that the Upper School is able to support on a bursary went from one in 25 to an incredible one in four.

When a child walks through Latymer’s gates, perhaps as a seven-year-old entering the Prep or joining us later in the Upper School, they take the first step in what we hope will be a lifelong relationship. Every new student joins a community and mindset that will shape the rest of their lives. This year, I want to celebrate the idea of a ‘Lifelong Latymerian’: a journey of curiosity, ambition and compassion that extends far beyond A Levels, university halls and the launch of stellar careers. Long after our graduates have left King Street, they remain an integral part of our story, returning to inspire, mentor and give back to the next generation. This enduring bond is the heartbeat of our School and it is reflected in the extraordinary fundraising successes of the Foundation this past year. Our community’s shared belief in the power of a Latymer education has never been more evident. I am profoundly grateful to our donors, be they dedicated current parents or members of our remarkably supportive alumni network, who continue to invest so deeply in our vision. A particular highlight of this year was our spectacular Gala dinner, which funded nine new bursaries in one night. These funds go directly toward sustaining our bursary programme, ensuring a Latymer education remains accessible to the most talented children regardless of their financial circumstances. The sheer scale and impact of our bursaries is the perfect testament to the ‘Lifelong Latymerian’ ethos, which brings me to someone who has literally transformed the fabric of our School. This year, Amanda Scott stepped down as the Foundation’s Executive

Through Amanda’s vision, hundreds of lives have been set on new trajectories. She understood that a bursary does not just change the prospects of one student but enriches the School experience for all by creating a vibrant, energetic environment where academic excellence and an adventurous, creative spirit go hand-in-hand. We owe her an immense debt of gratitude. Once again, exam results this year provided hard proof we are getting this mix just right. At A Level, 95% of grades were A*–B, with more than one in five students achieving at least three A* grades. Eighty-three percent secured their first-choice university offer, with 23 students winning Oxbridge places and over 20 Latymerians heading to leading international universities including McGill, Bocconi and Harvard. Meanwhile, 96% of our GCSEs grades were 7-9. And the Sunday Times ranked us the UK’s No1 co-ed day school. Congratulations to all our students and the wonderful teachers who guide and nurture their success. As we look to the future, the strength of the Latymer Foundation ensures our unique spirit will continue to thrive. The journey of a Latymerian is a continuous circle: the student who benefits from a bursary today becomes the inspiring alumnus of tomorrow, eager to support the generation that follows. Thank you to everyone in our global Latymer family who has contributed to this remarkable year. Together, you are ensuring our School remains a beacon of opportunity, excellence and lifelong connection.

The Power of Collective Generosity Generosity, in any form, changes a young person’s future. At Latymer, we see this in action through our annual Bursaries Appeal, which brings together gifts of every size, volunteer-led events – like the stellar Staff Panto, Robin Hood – and student fundraising. It’s Latymer’s ethos of giving, brought to life by our staff, students, parents, alumni and friends. Regular giving remains the cornerstone of the Bursaries Appeal, providing the dependable support that helps us plan for the future and welcome more talented young people to Latymer. Every act of generosity, however large or small, plays a part in opening doors to opportunity. Together, these achievements show the remarkable impact our community can have.

RAIS£ Celebrating 10 Years of Student Fundraising For over a decade, our students have been at the forefront of leadership and fundraising at Latymer.

Founded in 2016, Latymer’s student-led fundraising club, RAIS£, has given students the chance to bring their creativity and initiative to life while making a difference – from termly bake sales to the eagerly anticipated Year 7 and 8 Discos – all in aid of the Bursaries Appeal. As we celebrate 10 years of student-led community service and social responsibility, our Senior and Deputy Ambassadors reflect on the power of student voice and giving back:

Giving back to the community is so important to me. I am able to attend Latymer because of its generous financial aid programme, and I want others to be given the same opportunity. Being a Senior Ambassador means I can help others through what I love doing - engaging the community. Listening to what students wanted and making it happen was so special, knowing each event would help other students gain access to bursaries and a top-quality education.

AVA, SENIOR AMBASSADOR

I always wanted to contribute to the school community, and joining RAIS£ has allowed me to do just that! I’ve enjoyed every bit of it – from leading weekly club activities to organising exciting events. Becoming an ambassador was truly the highlight of Year 12.

LUNA, DEPUTY AMBASSADOR

I joined RAIS£ in Year 9, when I eagerly partook in the many of their activities. I had witnessed not only the exciting charitable and creative opportunities, but also what an exceptional community it fosters between different year groups. The Prep Bursary Fund Every child deserves the best possible start in life. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Prep Bursary Fund is helping to make that possible, opening the doors of a Latymer education to children who will thrive here, regardless of their financial circumstances. This year, that mission felt especially meaningful as we celebrated 75 years of Latymer Prep at Rivercourt House. Since the Prep first opened its doors on this site in 1951, it has grown into the vibrant, nurturing school it is today. Throughout those 75 years, one thing has remained constant: it is the people – pupils, parents, alumni, staff, and friends – who have shaped its character and strengthened its community. That enduring sense of community continues to shape the Prep’s future. Every child who joins brings fresh perspectives, new friendships, and unique talents that enrich school life for everyone. This September, two new pupils will begin their Latymer journey with bursary support, another step towards ensuring every child has the best possible start in life.

This spring, Prep pupils in Years 3-6 took part in a two-month entrepreneurship challenge, turning just £5 into thriving businesses, with all earnings donated to the Prep Bursary Fund. With support from their families, staff, and the wider community, pupils showed remarkable creativity, launching everything from handmade bookmarks to Latymerthemed merchandise and even local business partnerships! This was a brilliant demonstration in turning ideas into impact, proving that even the smallest seed can grow into something meaningful.

From joining Latymer in Year 4 to now serving as School Captain, Adeline knows first hand how bursaries can change the trajectory of someone’s life, and the importance of belonging from the very beginning. Because of the diversity of background, experience and perspective that the bursary programme brings, children joining Latymer will see a school community that reflects the world around them. They won’t walk into that sports hall for assembly on their first day at Latymer wondering whether there is anyone else like them. Instead, they’ll know from the very beginning that they belong. Thank you from every student whose life has been changed by the opportunities this school provides. From every child whose potential was recognised, whose confidence was built, whose ambitions were raised, and whose future became a little brighter because a collection of people, some whom they have never met, chose to invest in them. Your commitment does far more than just keep children walking through the gates of King Street every day. It gives children a second chance. It opens doors that otherwise remain closed. And it ensures that talent, ambition and potential are never lost simply because opportunity is out of reach.

A final word from Amanda Scott I am a repeat offender when it comes to taking on new challenges with zero experience. From my early career in investment banking, following a degree in early C20 History and mediaeval Italian poetry, to later setting up a bespoke cashmere company, a lack of experience has never held me back. So naturally, when I spotted the advertisement for the Director of Development at Latymer, I thought “I could do that”. Luckily for me, the three people interviewing me that day agreed and so I joined Latymer 17 years ago. Recently I was reflecting on how I achieved success in these three very different careers and I realised it was down to my education. Not the dates I learnt in History nor the Latin verbs I recited nor the periodic table I memorised, but the self-confidence and ways of thinking my independent school education had given me. I had been taught always to be enquiring, to question the status quo, to tackle problems and new situations by thinking out of the box, and by using past learning to tackle future challenges. I know from experience that this is how an independent school education enriches your life, and that is even more valuable than the exam certificates you collect along the way. That’s what we pass on the young people who come through Latymer’s gates every day.

When I joined Latymer, 3% of students were supported by a bursary. Now, 1 in 4 of Latymer’s students are able to attend this wonderful school thanks to a bursary. Since Amanda joined us in 2009… Over

750

students have been supported by a bursary

10

£66.8m has been raised

During my tenure alone, some 750 young people have benefitted from our bursary programme directly; and indirectly their classmates have benefitted from their presence and their friendship. I know it will continue for generations yet to come. What made all this possible, and something I’ll miss most about Latymer, is the amazing community of people connected to this remarkable school. So I want to end with some thanks. I have worked with many fantastic colleagues, both in the wider School and in the Foundation Office. Latymer staff routinely give 120% effort every day, because they are passionate about this School and its ethos. I’d like to thank the Heads and Governors with whom I’ve worked. Thank you for being brave enough to hire the person who had the audacity to apply whilst lacking any demonstrable experience in the field. Thank you for supporting the vision of a needs-blind Latymer, interested less in where our students have come from and more in where they are going. And finally, I’d like to thank all the supporters of the Foundation and all our wonderful volunteers. Without you Latymer would not be able to offer these life-changing bursaries. Your generosity is truly humbling, and I cannot tell you how much I’ve appreciated your philanthropic support, as well as your encouragement and advice in difficult times.

Now I’m moving on to new adventures, may I ask you to help safeguard the future of Latymer’s bursary programme? It is the school’s beating heart and it needs your vigilance and support if it is to grow and flourish for generations to come. I shall really miss you all.

And a warm welcome to Alex Fleming Being a teacher showed me the power of education. Since then, I have worked across social mobility, international development and philanthropy, but in each environment one lesson has remained consistent: talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. That idea continues to shape everything we do at the Foundation.

Returning to Latymer this year has felt a little like coming home. Between 2011 and 2013 I taught Philosophy & Religious Studies in the Upper School, although my Head of Department would probably say I spent more time coaching cricket and rugby than teaching. Returning in a different role has been a privilege, reconnecting with parents, Latymerians, volunteers and friends of the Foundation. What has struck me most is the shared belief across this community that a young person’s talent should not be limited by their financial circumstances. It is a belief that lay at the heart of Edward Latymer’s founding vision and remains just as relevant today. Few people have done more than Amanda Scott to ensure that this ethos remains at the heart of the School. Through her leadership, bursaries have once again become central to the School’s mission. The opportunities created for hundreds of young people and their families will be felt for generations, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be building on the extraordinary work she leaves behind. Thank you, Amanda.

This year, together we raised £1.85 million through our Gala to support bursaries in the Prep and Upper School, while our partnerships programme engaged more than 4,000 young people from local schools and communities. This September, we will welcome 46 new students to Latymer on bursaries. As we look ahead, my ambition is not simply to sustain the incredible work of the Latymer Foundation, but to deepen our impact by strengthening our bursary endowment, expanding opportunities for Latymerians, parents and staff to give back, and building partnerships that create opportunity across our local communities.

I am excited for what lies ahead, and I hope you will join us as we build on Edward Latymer’s vision for generations to come.

Latymerians in Action A Latymer education opens doors, but its impact is also measured by what our students go on to do for others. For many Latymerians, the opportunities made possible by the generosity of our community inspire a lifelong commitment to giving back. Here, we meet two alumnae whose careers are creating positive change in very different ways. Their stories are a reminder that widening access to an exceptional education creates a ripple effect, benefitting not only individual students but communities around the world.

As someone who grew up locally and a Latymer bursary pupil in the Sixth Form from 2004-6, I’ve always been energised to play a role in efforts to make the West London neighbourhoods that supported me so well as a young person continue to grow their sense of compassion and belief in inclusion of people of all backgrounds, and in particular those who have been historically marginalised. After school, while living in the U.S in my twenties, I’d closely followed the news about inspirational humanitarian efforts across Europe to support refugees fleeing from the huge escalation in war and conflict in Syria and nearby countries. Once I’d moved back to London, a Hammersmith local, Joanne MacInnes, called out for other volunteers to help create a community space for refugees, and I immediately became involved. We first opened the doors of the West London Welcome (WLW) refugee centre in Hammersmith in 2018. In the beginning it was solely about feel-good community building, but asylum-seeking people in our community were often destitute and traumatised, and we couldn’t ignore their urgent needs. Some had just escaped their trafficker and didn’t know what to do next; others had never accessed their right to advice from a legal aid lawyer. We soon developed our own in-house advice and advocacy expertise to find solutions. 12

Today I’m the Deputy Director of WLW, which is the main refugee centre this side of London, with 11 staff and 135 volunteers providing holistic support for 300 people weekly from 70 different countries. We run our welcoming, colourful centre collaboratively with those we support, and provide everything from English classes and casework to food, creative activities and essential practical items. We love watching people slowly transform from isolated individuals to beloved members of the community as they build their first friendships in London, and our intensive casework and work with lawyers enables hundreds to rebuild their lives here in safety. Latymer students have for years been on the forefront of efforts amongst young people to support refugees. Students have frequently visited Calais to distribute clothes and food to refugees, and many volunteer with us at WLW, from using their brilliant language skills for translation at the centre to assisting caseworkers and even running improv classes. At a time of increasing hostility to refugees and migrants globally, we’re so lucky to have incredible support from local people, who volunteer, donate and help us with myth-bust growing misinformation about migration. We rely on this local support hugely and couldn’t run the centre without the generous people of Hammersmith, including Latymerians. LEYLA, CLASS OF 2006

injustices faced by Indigenous communities as a result of climate change and realised I wanted to shift my career. I didn’t want to focus only on animals and plants; I wanted to bring human rights into conservation. Today, I work at Cool Earth in policy and advocacy, lobbying governments to change laws so that Indigenous peoples are protected and deforestation is reduced. It feels like the right intersection of my education, my values and the skills I’ve developed – including the Spanish I learnt at Latymer, which I use every day. I was born in the Czech Republic but grew up in London. My family immigrated to this country for better opportunities. I think my mum always cared about education and wanted the best for us, but we didn’t have the means to go to a school like Latymer. Receiving a bursary made all the difference. I don’t think I fully understood what it meant at ten years old but it was obvious how much it meant to my mum. She worked as a waitress for most of my childhood and spent countless hours tutoring my brother and me herself because we couldn’t afford tutors. It’s really thanks to her that we got anywhere that we did. At Latymer, I loved science and maths, and the science block was genuinely an amazing place to learn. It pushed me to work harder, especially in biology, which I went on to study at the University of Bristol before completing a Master’s degree. I was also lucky to have teachers who made such an impression on me. Dr Hardy brought biology to life, Mr Ashby brought warmth and kindness during the stresses of Sixth Form, and Mr Haines somehow made maths fun. Those are the teachers I still remember most. After university, I spent a couple of years working in tropical ecology in rainforests across Central and South America. Through that work, I became increasingly aware of the

Growing up, my education was free, at Latymer and in my out of school activities like ballet. People were so generous, so I always grew up wanting to give back. I just knew I was never not going to work for a charity. Latymer also gave me opportunities to travel at a young age through the amazing trips, which really broadened my horizons and made an international career feel possible. To everyone who supports Latymer’s bursary programme, thank you. It massively helped my family and made opportunities possible for both me and my brother. Education is fundamental. I genuinely believe that investing in education is one of the kindest things you can do for the next generation. Bursary students already have an amazing set of skills: we’re resilient, adaptable and able to move between different worlds. I would tell the kids at Latymer now that the sky’s the limit. Go for it. We have had so many informative and helpful assemblies and talks which helped guide the whole uni process and made it much more manageable.

Latymer has given every student more than academic success: it’s given us soft skills, it’s given us curiosity, it’s helped us accept people with other views, it’s built our ability to cope with stress and kept us busy, but above all, it’s given us opportunities which we never would have had elsewhere. Thanks to our wonderful careers advisor, Mr Couch, I gained insights into an industry that I never knew was achievable for me. Like so many other Latymerians, I’ve been given the chance to drive my aspirations forward, and my dream to be the first pilot in my family has become a possibility, as I’m now lucky to be a Gliding Scholar and top applicant for selection to attend a fully sponsored flight school.

In truth, education wasn’t always a safe space for me. In primary school, I lost out on so much due to my misbehaviour. I never wanted to learn from my teachers, because I never received respect or understanding from them. But when I started here, that all changed, and my potential flourished, because I suddenly felt seen and heard by the adults around me. My mum, who’s an amazing, hard working nurse for the NHS, my teachers and I knew from reception that I had ADHD, but it was only at Latymer with my bursary place and funding that I was able to get my diagnosis. And it’s so much more than a label. It really has changed my life, by allowing me to further understand myself, understand where I fit in society, and understand how to navigate through the differences I face. And it’s all thanks to you. This is the impact your generosity has had. CHRISTIAN, SCHOOL CAPTAIN 15

This year, our partnerships programme brought transformative academic and extracurricular opportunities to more than 4,000 local children and young people through a wide range of free activities and our core programmes. These opportunities are only possible thanks to the generosity of our parents, alumni and supporters, and the dedication of the staff and students who give their time so generously. Our Core Programmes

Our core partnerships programmes continued to inspire and challenge local young people throughout the year, creating opportunities to build confidence, develop new skills and broaden aspirations. Bright Sparks welcomed 57 Year 5 pupils for a series of workshops designed to prepare them for independent school entrance examinations. Alongside academic sessions in Maths, English and Science, children explored inspiring books presented by our librarians, while their parents attended workshops on bursaries and the admissions process at Latymer and beyond. We are especially delighted that six pupils from last year’s programme will join Latymer in Year 7 this September! Our STEM Academy brought together 24 Year 7 and 8 students for an exciting introduction to coding and robotics. Guided by Latymer Computing staff and Year 12 volunteers, participants developed programming skills before putting their robotic cars to the test in a competitive race.

May I just take this moment to thank you so, so much for the opportunity you’ve given all the children to take part in such a fantastic and worthwhile project. Watching my little boy walk out of your school and telling me in great detail what they’ve got up to this week with such energy and happiness was a genuine pleasure. (Although tiring!) Latymer in the Community Our partnerships strengthen the whole Latymer community. While creating lasting opportunities for the young people and organisations we work with, they also encourage our students to give back through volunteering, mentoring and sharing their skills. A cornerstone of the Sixth Form experience, the Service in the Community programme encourages every Year 12 student to give their time and talents to organisations across west London. Placements ranged from primary schools, charities and community groups to libraries, Scouts, hospitals, sports clubs, homeless shelters and Latymer’s own partnerships programmes. Many students chose to continue volunteering beyond their required commitment, reflecting the rewarding relationships they had built and the lasting impact of their experience.

Activities Week

While Latymer students explored the UK and beyond during Activities Week, our commitment to the local community continued closer to home.

Partner school pupils visited Latymer for practical Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Music workshops, while our teachers travelled to local schools to support across subjects including English, Drama, Spanish, History and Religion & Philosophy. At the same time, members of the Latymer Foundation team volunteered with organisations taking part in our Service in the Community programme: helping prepare meals at The Upper Room, supporting families at Shepherd’s Bush Families Project, and assisting at Queen’s Manor Primary School. These experiences not only provided crucial support to our partners, but reinforced a defining part of our Latymer ethos: using our knowledge, skills and time to make a meaningful difference to others.

Legacies: Opening the Door for the Next Generation This year, our first Legacies Week gave us a chance to recognise something that reaches far beyond a single week: the enduring generosity of the Latymer community and the opportunities it creates for generations to come. Gifts in wills have funded 228 years of free Latymer education to date. As we celebrated this remarkable impact, we asked three 1624 Society members why they have chosen to leave a gift to Latymer and what they hope their generosity will make possible.

I always get the feeling that everything Latymer does is unique to Latymer. They’re always in the vanguard, thinking up new wonderful things to do. The bursary programme is just amazing. Really, really wonderful and reading the stories from the students it supports is just tearjerkingly inspirational. I love that it never stops, it just grows and grows. MOIRA, FORMER PARENT

I went to Latymer as a direct grant pupil, but that scheme is no longer available. But Latymer does offer bursaries to young people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford to go to the school. That meant a lot to me. Just to help at least one student get the same sort of experience that I had. That’s what it’s all about. ROBERT, CLASS OF 1968

1624 Society

The 1624 Society was created to recognise those who have made provision for the Latymer Foundation in their will. Legacies play a key role in building our endowment and help us to protect our founder’s legacy for future generations of Latymerians. LATYMERIANS

By contributing towards my bursary, you have opened a door for me and a new chapter in my future. I truly enjoy studying and always dreamed of having access to excellent education and having all those conversations I wanted to have with classmates who are as interested as I am. Your generosity made it possible for me to keep dreaming, to apply to Latymer and win a place at this wonderful school. Without your support, my dreams might well have remained just that, dreams.
