US Latymerians have a proud history of supporting bursary students, and donations made by Latymerians living, working or studying in the US have given five young people the opportunity of a life-changing education in Latymer’s Sixth Form. You can read an update from one of our former bursary holders below. We need your help to continue to support these talented young people. The US Latymerian Bursary Appeal relies on gifts of all sizes and each one makes an impact. The current US Latymerian bursary holder is one of 240 students across the School who began this academic year at Latymer funded by a bursary. This is thanks to the amazing generosity of our global Latymer community. The continued support of our donors will enable us to reach the goal of our Inspiring Minds campaign – to offer bursaries to 1 in 4 of our students by 2024, the 400th anniversary of the Latymer Foundation.
This year, your support is more important to us than ever as we navigate the aftermath of the pandemic, which has disproportionately impacted the most disadvantaged in our community. Your gift to the US Latymerian Bursary could help make the dream of a Latymer education a reality for another young person, transforming their life prospects. Make your donation
Gifts of all sizes help us to fund the US Latymerian Bursary. You can support the Bursary by making a one-off gift, a Leadership Gift ($2,685 or more per academic year) or a regular gift. Regular giving is hugely important as it allows us to plan ahead for next year’s funding. Donations can be made from a UK bank account, or through the British Schools and Universities Foundation (BSUF).
There are various ways in which you can donate: Checks
• Please make checks payable to ‘‘British Schools and Universities Foundation, Inc’’.
• In your gift, you can express a preference for support of ‘‘The Latymer Foundation at Hammersmith/US Latymerian Bursary’’. This should be indicated by a notation on the check, as well as your transmittal letter. • Mail your check to: 575 Madison Avenue, Suite 1006, New York, NY 10022-2511.
Postmark on or before December 31 to qualify for current-year tax deduction. st
Credit cards
• Securely donate by credit card at Network for Good. • This can be both a one-time or recurring donation.
Network for Good will deduct 3% from your donation for processing, or you can opt to cover this in your donation. Note that when gifts are made online, your receipt for tax purposes will come from Network for Good.

* BSUF is a non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organisation recognised as a 501(c)3 by the IRS. Contributions to BSUF are deductible for US Federal income tax purposes and earn the same tax relief as any other donations made to US charities. To make a gift and take a US income tax deduction, you may make a donation to BSUF (Federal Tax ID 13-616-1189). You should express a preference for “The Latymer Foundation at Hammersmith/US Latymerian Bursary” in your transmittal letter. Such preferences are respected by BSUF but all grants are made at its sole discretion, as required by the IRS.
Bursary recipient update
Liam James (2020) Former US Latymerian bursary holder, Liam James (2020), met David Cressy (1963) for tea in Claremont, California during the summer. David is Research Professor in Arts and Humanities at Claremont Graduate University and Liam is studying at Claremont McKenna College. While at Latymer, Liam wrote:
Thanks to the education at Latymer, I am confident that I can thrive in the US. Latymer’s rejection of the extremely narrow UK three-subject focus, through electives and the Extended Project dissertation to name but a few opportunities, will prove invaluable for the broad scope of a liberal arts education, and Latymer’s championing of extra-curricular activities will allow me to thrive.
His latest update confirms the continuing impact of his Latymer education, made possible by the generosity of US-based Latymerians:
I have really enjoyed my first in-person semester at Claremont McKenna College (CMC) in sunny Los Angeles. Through applying to CMC’s selective PPE program, I have decided that I will be a PPE & Economics Dual Major, and I look forward to my studies in these fields. In my free time I have enjoyed participating in CMC’s Model UN team, Debate union and going on CMC-sponsored trips, doing things such as surfing in Venice Beach and day trips to see LA Galaxy play or visiting Santa Monica. The community is vibrant and welcoming and I look forward to my years ahead.”
