"La vida mía"
by Christy Martinez-Garcia
This month's cover demonstrates symbols reflective of my journey. In 16 years as the publisher and founder of Latino Lubbock Magazine I've only appeared on the cover once, however, many of the themes of my covers reflect my life or influences from my Latino/Hispanic culture growing up in the Arnett Benson barrio surrounded by mi familia. And, as we continue to observe Hispanic Heritage Month I thought it would be good to demonstrate how a person's environment can impact who they become. The cover reflects symbols that influenced my journey as a girl, to my family, to my strive for a higher education to the city in which I grew up in, which is better explained in this month’s Word from the Publisher. I urge you to please read it. We appreciate your support and Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! ¡Feliz mes de la Herencia Hispana!
