Louisiana Tech is 29-18 this season and coming off a 2-1 series win at New Mexico State to move into a tie for third place with the Aggies in the CUSA standings. The Bulldogs took games one and two of the series by the scores of 11-7 and 5-4 before falling in the finale 6-0. >> Freshman Mattison Buster was phenomenal last week with a 1.50 ERA and four strikeouts in 9.1 innings pitched while helping the Bulldogs earn a series win at New Mexico State. She earned her second career save in a series clinching victory at New Mexico State on Saturday. The Sulphur Springs, Texas product, yielded just two hits and one run with a strikeout in three innings of work. >> Center fielder Alexis Gilio leads LA Tech with a .359 batting average (Min. 100 at-bats) and 52 hits, 18 RBI, 29 Runs scored, 19 walks and a team-leading 13 stolen bases. Defensively Gilio has committed two errors in 85 chances. Gilio has robbed two home runs this season (at Jax State, at Ole Miss). >> Nicole Hammoude leads LA Tech with 30 RBI and is tied with Kylie Neel for the team-lead in home runs this season with five. >> Catcher Brooke Diaz batted .500 last week with six hits, four RBI, two doubles and two walks while helping Louisiana Tech earn a series victory at New Mexico State. She recorded a hit in each of the Bulldogs’ four games while increasing her reached-base streak to five games. >> Opponents are hitting .262 against the Bulldogs’ pitching staff in 2024. LA Tech holds a team ERA of 2.92 and a 1.31 WHIP in 318.1 innings pitched this season. In the last two seasons the Bulldog pitchers have held opponents to two runs or less in 50 of their 102 games played. >> Allie Floyd leads LA Tech in innings pitched (126.0) and strikeouts (72) this season while owning a 2.78 ERA. She has a 13-6 record and five saves this season. Floyd has held opponents to a .244 batting average in 2024. >> Brook Melnychuk is 10-7 this season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts. Opposing hitters are batting .247 against her. >> LA Tech is led by head coach Josh Taylor who is 100-62 in three seasons at Tech and 333-230 in his career, with prior stops at Nevada (2017-2021) and Feather River College (2009-2012). Taylor was the second fastest LA Tech head coach to reach the 100-win mark trailing only NFCA Hall of Famer Bill Galloway who accomplished the feat in 132 games. >> The Bulldogs and Cowgirls will be meeting for the 91st time on Tuesday and the third time this season. LA Tech leads the all-time series 59-31 and won the first two meeting this season. Tech took the first game 8-0 (6 inn.), at the Purple and Gold Challenge (March 3). Two days later the Bulldogs defeated the Cowgirls 3-1 in Lake Charles. >>
