Louisiana Tech is 23-6 this season and coming off a 8-0 run-rule (5 inn.) win over Grambling State. Nicole Hammoude highlighted the LA Tech offense by hitting a first-inning grand slam to open the scoring. The grand slam was her third home run of the season, tying Claire Raley for the team lead. Hammoude has homered in back-to-back games. >> Hammoude leads LA Tech with 24 RBI this season and is tied with Raley for the team-lead in home runs with three. >> Third baseman Claire Raley is coming off a phenomenal week in which she batted .615 with eight hits, one double, five runs scored, one walk, and a stolen base. Raley has recorded three hits in each of her last two games. As a result of her efforts, she was named Conference USA Player of the Week. The Clovis, Calif., product is batting .320 with a team-leading 21 runs scored and 50 total bases. >> Louisiana Tech checked in at No. 37 in the latest NCAA RPI Rankings on March 25, the best among all Conference USA schools. >> LA Tech has won its first three conference series, marking the first time since 2010 that Tech has accomplished the feat when the Bulldogs were a member of the WAC. >> Opponents are hitting .230 against the Bulldogs’ pitching staff in 2024. LA Tech holds a team ERA of 1.95 and a 1.10 WHIP in 197 innings pitched this season. In the last two seasons the Bulldog pitchers have held opponents to two runs or less in 46 of their 84 games played. >> Allie Floyd leads leads LA Tech in innings pitched (83.1) and strikeouts (56) this season while owning a 1.51 ERA. She has a 11-1 record and four saves this season. Floyd leads CUSA and ranks 11th nationally in victories. >> Brook Melnychuk is 7-4 this season with a 2.01 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts. Opposing hitters are batting .207 against her. >> Center fielder Alexis Gilio has been the Dogs’ best hitter this season. She leads LA Tech with a .435 batting average and 37 hits, 12 RBI, 20 Runs scored, 13 walks and a team-leading nine stolen bases. Defensively Gilio has not committed an error in 49 chances. >> Second baseman Caroline Easom is batting .386 with 34 hits, six doubles, 20 RBI, and seven runs scored this season. >> LA Tech is led by head coach Josh Taylor who is 94-50 in three seasons at Tech and 327-218 in his career, with prior stops at Nevada (2017-2021) and Feather River College (2009-2012). >> The Bulldogs and the Flames will be meeting for the third, fourth and fifth times this week. Liberty leads the all-time series 2-0 with a pair of wins in 2016. >>
