Louisiana Tech is 22-6 this season and coming off a thrilling series win against WKU. The Bulldogs defeated the Hilltoppers by the scores of 5-3 and 10-4 in the series opener and finale to earn their third-straight Conference USA series win. >> In the series finale win, Tech registered 10 hits as six different Bulldogs recorded hits and five Bulldogs drove in runs. Redshirt-junior shortstop Nicole Hammoude drove in four runs, three of which came on a tape-measure threerun home run in the bottom of the third inning. >> Third baseman Claire Raley is coming off a phenomenal week in which she batted .615 with eight hits, one double, five runs scored, one walk, and a stolen base. Raley has recorded three hits in each of her last two games. As a result of her efforts, she was named Conference USA Player of the Week. The Clovis, Calif., product is batting .326 with a team-leading three home runs, four triples, 21 runs scored and 50 total bases. >> Louisiana Tech checked in at No. 37 in the latest NCAA RPI Rankings on March 25, the best among all Conference USA schools. >> Opponents are hitting .233 against the Bulldogs’ pitching staff in 2024. LA Tech holds a team ERA of 2.01 and a 1.12 WHIP in 192 innings pitched this season. In the last two seasons the Bulldog pitchers have held opponents to two runs or less in 45 of their 83 games played. >> Allie Floyd leads leads LA Tech in innings pitched (83.1) and strikeouts (56) this season while owning a 1.51 ERA. She has a 11-1 record and four saves this season. Floyd leads CUSA and ranks 11th nationally in victories. >> Brook Melnychuk is 7-4 this season with a 2.01 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts. Opposing hitters are batting .207 against her. >> Center fielder Alexis Gilio has been the Dogs’best hitter this season. She leads LA Tech with a .440 batting average and 37 hits, 12 RBI, 18 Runs scored, 12 walks and a team-leading nine stolen bases. Defensively Gilio has not committed an error in 49 chances. Gilio ranks second in CUSA and 35th nationally in batting average. >> Second baseman Caroline Easom is batting .395 with 34 hits, six doubles, 20 RBI, and seven runs scored this season. >> LA Tech is led by head coach Josh Taylor who is 93-50 in three seasons at Tech and 326-218 in his career, with prior stops at Nevada (2017-2021) and Feather River College (2009-2012). >> The Bulldogs and Tigers will be meeting for the 23rd time on Tuesday. LA Tech leads the all-time series 22-0 and has shutout Grambling State in 12 of the 22 meetings. >>
