LOUISIANA TECH BULLDOGS (12-10, 5-6 c-usa)

• Louisiana Tech faces Rice for a second time this season as the two teams meet up on Thursday night at 6 p.m. inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court. • LA Tech snapped its two-game losing streak this past Saturday, defeating UTSA in San Antonio by a final score of 66-55. After a sluggish first half, the Bulldogs shot 59.3 per-cent from the field in the second half as they completed the sweep over the Roadrun-ners while also extending their winning streak in the series to six games. • Isaiah Crawford and Cobe Williams were a tough tandem at UTSA, combining for 37 points (56 percent of the team’s scoring), 13 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. • It was an odd game between LA Tech and UTSA from a fouls and free throw attempts standpoint. There was a total of 13 free throws attempted by both teams, the fewest in a Bulldog game since 2015. There was also just 18 total fouls called (nine each), which is the fewest in a Bulldog game in the last 30 years. • Cobe Williams’ streak of four straight games with 20+ points ended at UTSA after scoring 18. He did continue his streak of games with at least 16 points, extending that to 12 games which is the longest streak of anyone in C-USA this season and the third longest streak of any Bulldog in the last 20 years. • There were a handful of milestones hit by Bulldogs in the win over the Roadrun-ners. Cobe Williams reached 300 career assists, Keaston Willis reached 150 career threepointers made (as a Bulldog), and Isaiah Crawford reached 100 career steals. • The Big Three of Cobe Williams (19.6), Keaston Willis (12.6), and Isaiah Crawford (12.6) have accounted for 65 percent of the Bulldogs scoring in C-USA action. All three rank in the top 15 in scoring during league play only, making LA Tech the only team in the league with three players in the top 15. • LA Tech has had a lot of success against Rice since the two became C-USA foes. The Bulldogs have won 14 of the 16 matchups, including the last six. The last two wins have been tough to come by though, defeating the Owls 83-79 last season and 88-82 in overtime this season (both meetings happened in Houston).

A LOUISIANA TECH WIN WOULD...

• Stop the Bulldogs from dropping back-to-back games at home, something that has happened only once in the last five seasons. LA Tech is 65-9 at home since the 2018-19 season. • Be the seventh straight victory over Rice, matching the longest winning streak in the series for the Bulldogs (won seven straight between Feb. 15, 2014 and Jan. 19, 2017). • Be the ninth consecutive win over the Owls in Ruston. LA Tech has not lost to Rice inside the Thomas Assembly Center since March 3, 2005. The average margin of victory in their eight home victories is 22.6 (Bulldogs are averaging 81.0 points per game).
