Pencil Sketches: Design and Communication Graphics Project 2024: These sketches are from a design project I completed this year. The first slide shows my freehand sketches from the Fortebraccio Light by Luceplan. The second slide shows my own light design inspired by the Constellations and the Sputnik satellite of 1957 I really wanted to capture the light and the darkness of each individual part as well as their 3D features.
Architectural perspective drawing and model
Plastic Etching with development sketches. This was based on a photo I took while visiting Creevykeel Court Cairn in County Sligo.
I experimented using both red and black ink. I used a fineliner pen for the sketches.
Rock Studies: I then decided to explore rocks further.These were painted using watercolours, and experiments with pencil and graphite, as well as using salt to create unusual patterns and textures.

Etching and Monoprinting This was a piece I completed in school, based on the ring forts seen throughout Ireland. The prints on the right were made using the Monoprint technique. The images on the left are from the same project.

These two pieces were directly inspired by the above photo, which I took during Summer of 2023. I used watercolours for the study on the right and acrylic and paint pens on plywood for the painting on the right.

Lino Print: This lino print was based on the tree house in my garden, which my dad built in 2013, with some help from my brother and I. This treehouse inspired the tree paintings on the previous slide also seeing the canopy of leaves so high up.

Batiks- The second Batik (above) was inspired by a Monet painting, pictured on the right. The first batik(on the left) was inspired by a beautiful flower I found in my garden.
Egg Studies:
Egg studies done in a variety of mediums. I began with a quick marker sketch of an egg focusing mainly on colour (Right) I then decided to use clay to make a model and then painted it. The painting below was done with acrylics on wood. The final piece is on the far left, depicting a Ramen bowl.

Dublin Model 2023: Development sketches from a model I made of various prominent buildings in Dublin, including the Spire, Georgian buildings, the Guiness factory wall and the Poolbeg Towers.
Traditional Irish buildings: Railway tower: This model was made with a combination of hand-made and Laser cut elements. The house in the middle is made from clay and inspired by traditional Irish cottage. These four pieces share the theme of traditional Irish buildings. The house on the bottom left was drawn in procreate, while the house above that is acrylic on wood.
Fish Studies: Collection of fish drawings. The drawing on the left was originally a sketch in my sketchbook, and then drawn over in procreate. The drawing below was entirely drawn on procreate.
Koi Fish screen print 2024: After completing the drawings on the previous slides I decided to make this screen print of a Koi fish. Firstly, I created my design, then cut out three separate stencils. I printed on both paper and fabric.
Junk Kouture
Junk Kouture project 2022- I completed this project in 2022 with two friends. We based our design on bees and created everything using only recycled materials, including: Recycled plastic, fruit netting, cable ties and plastic bags. I created the wings using wire and fruit netting and the headpiece using cable ties and netting. The bodice was made with plastic bags and crochet.
‘Starman’ 2023 For this piece, I wanted to tell a story about a character looking off into the distance, silhouetted by the moon, with a spaceship. I began sketching the character in my sketchbook and completed it in Procreate. I wanted to incorporate texture and pattern into the piece, as seen in the rays and background lines. I got the artwork printed onto birch plywood.I was inspired
Sister Act Poster 2023: I designed this poster based on the popular 1991 film series Sister Act. I wanted the poster to be brightly colored, with the main characters in the center. I first made some quick sketches and mind maps of the elements I wanted to include (bottom right). I also experimented with fonts and layouts. I had a few different versions throughout the process (as shown above). The final piece is to the left.
‘Spiltmilk’ poster 2021 I designed this poster for a concert, as part of the Spilt Milk festival. I started with quick sketches, developing ideas. The final design is on the right.
Portraits on Procreate of my cousin (above) and my brother (right)
I choose to use a digital medium for these pieces to create a softness/smoothness which I find harder to create with traditional materials. I really enjoyed capturing the eyes in each piece.
Procreate drawing: This is a line drawing I made on Procreate. I referenced the above photo of my granny, uncle and grandad (left to right) I wanted to capture the detailed background and detail in the clothing
‘Selkie’ Mural, 2022 This mural was created for a restaurant and was painted on a large wooden circle. I first developed my idea in Procreate, drawing inspiration from local mountains and the mythical Selkie creature. I wanted to include sea-themed elements such as shells. I used acrylic and coloured pencils.
Character design: Both portraits were drawn using Procreate.
Procreate Digital pieces: These two pieces were created about the same time. The drawing on the right began as a sketch in my sketchbook and evolved into a finished piece. The flowers were inspired by wildflowers I discovered in the field. I first experimented with watercolor. The image on the left was inspired by a 2017 photo taken by Sam Khoury for 'Dazed' magazine. The photograph is of Sang Woo Kim, an artist.
Study of facial features, texture and highlights. For this piece I wanted to create a character that looked like a bee. I really focused on highlights and texture on the characters face, as well as the texture of the hair. The sketch at the top is my original sketch from 2020, which inspired this piece.
