Marriott Hotels INTRODUCES DAY USE ROOMS AS DEMAND GROWS FOR FLEXIBLE, PRIVATE SPACES IN LONDON
Selected Marriott properties in London have introduced day use rooms, giving guests access to a hotel room during the day without booking an overnight stay.
The offer responds to the changing ways people are using the city, from hybrid workers and commuters looking for a quiet place between meetings, to business travellers and visitors needing space to work, rest, change or pause before their next plan.
For hotels, day use rooms also create an opportunity to make better use of daytime inventory, driving incremental revenue beyond the traditional
overnight model while reaching new guest segments.
With warmer weather increasing demand for cool, quiet indoor spaces away from crowded cafés, stations and public areas, the offer provides access to a guest room, desk space, Wi-Fi and private bathroom in key London locations.
Anne Legrand, Area General Manager for Central London Hotels and General Manager for London Marriott County Hall said: “Hotels have always been part of how people experience London, but the way guests use them is changing. The need is not always a full overnight
stay; sometimes it is a few hours of privacy, a reliable place to work, or a calm space between commitments. Our London Day Use Rooms offer recognises that shift, supporting guests during the day while making better use of the spaces we already have.”
Participating hotels include:
• London Marriott Hotel County Hall: A landmark riverside hotel on London’s South Bank, moments from Westminster Bridge, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.
• London Marriott Hotel Kensington: A well-connected West London hotel close to Gloucester Road, Earl’s Court, South Kensington, Kensington High Street and Olympia London.
• London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale: A quieter North West London option close to Maida Vale, Kilburn and St John’s Wood.
• London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch: A newly refurbished central London hotel near Oxford Street, Hyde Park, Marylebone and Paddington.
• London Marriott Hotel Regent’s Park: A North London hotel close to Regent’s Park, Primrose Hill, Camden and St John’s Wood.
HOSPITALITY EQUIPMENT SUPPLIERS BACK INDUSTRY CALL FOR 10% VAT
Foodservice and hospitality equipment suppliers have added their support to an industry-wide call for VAT in hospitality venues to be cut to 10%.
High-speed oven manufacturer Merrychef and water filter specialist BRITA Professional have backed #VATsTheProblem, an initiative spearheaded by chef Tom Kerridge calling on the government to reduce
VAT for hospitality venues from 20% to 10%.
Tom explains “This campaign reaches far deeper than just the front-line positioning of pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, bars and hotels.
“We all know that hospitality is built upon relationships with supply chains. These are building blocks that the
individual businesses are built upon. So, whilst this campaign hits the front end, it makes a big difference to everybody who is working or has an attachment with hospitality. We continue to thank the supply chains for all of their support.”
Merrychef managing director Colin Lacey said: “Operators are facing what can only be described as a relentless accumulation of cost pressures. Since
London City Airport TO CELEBRATE FOUR DECADES OF AVIATION WITH NEW LUXURY
PRE-FLIGHT HOSPITALITY
As it approaches its 40th year in 2027, London City Airport is announcing it will open its first luxury pre-flight hospitality experience, in partnership with Swissport International’s airport hospitality brand, Aspire Pre Flight Hospitality.
Known since 1987 for its attractive customer offer of domestic and international travel achieved with ease, the announcement comes at a historic time for London City Airport as it moves ahead with its ambitious growth plans to reach passenger numbers of nine million a year.
With construction well underway, the lounge will be open by early 2027 to any passengers who wish to elevate their pre-flight experience.
A modern luxury design aesthetic will welcome guests as they access the space via a 5* hotel-like lobby within the departures lounge. The conveniently located lobby means the transition from the security lane to total relaxation will be seamless. Once inside, customers will experience a beautifully curated interior with a view of London City Airport’s unique runway.
The bespoke features are designed for an international audience, including a centrepiece cocktail bar and barista station serving locally roasted coffee. These will be complemented by an everevolving artisanal food and drinks menu inspired by adventure and the city of London.
Covid, the sector has absorbed significant increases in energy costs, wage inflation, National Insurance contributions and wider operating expenses, all while consumers themselves are becoming more cautious with spending.
“From our conversations with customers, the challenge isn’t a lack of ambition, it’s confidence. Businesses are being asked to grow and modernise at a time when the cost of doing business continues to rise. For many operators, it feels like death by a thousand cuts.
“Hospitality is one of the UK’s most important industries, creating jobs,
EXPERIENCE
As part of London City Airport’s continued commitment to both business travellers and upscale leisure travellers, there will be a dedicated workspace with extensive seating and private booths to provide privacy for calls.

The introduction of this exclusive experience is answering a clear demand from passengers and will elevate our unrivalled customer offer and reputation as London’s most loved airport. We’re delighted to be partnering with Aspire Pre-Flight Hospitality on this project, who have a proven track record of designing and operating luxury lounges in airports around the world.”
Karen Cox, CEO United Kingdom & Ireland, Swissport International says: “The pre-flight experience market is in high growth driven by the new demands of the discerning traveller. Aspire is leading the way, constantly innovating and improving its guest experience to reflect this. supporting communities and driving economic activity. We believe measures that improve cash flow and encourage investment are critical to the sector’s future, which is why Merrychef supports the industry’s call for a reduced VAT rate for hospitality through the #VATsTheProblem campaign.”
The petition, which has more than 200,000 signatures, calls on the government to bring hospitality VAT in line with European countries such as France, Spain and Italy, where it is 10%.
BRITA Professional UK sales director Samantha Scoles added: “At BRITA, we
The announcement follows London City Airport’s major upgrade to its main departure lounge area, which was completed in 2024, demonstrating the airport’s continued commitment to growth and future focussed strategy.
The bespoke lounge, which is unaffiliated with any airline, will be accessible to all passengers travelling through London City Airport, via online or walk-in purchase and, in time, through an annual membership.
work closely with hospitality operators, and we see first-hand the pressures they are facing. Rising costs, tighter margins and increasing operational demands continue to challenge businesses across the sector. At the same time, we see the vital role hospitality plays in communities, local economies and employment.
The campaign is also supported by major hospitality groups, including UKHospitality, the British Beer and Pub Association, the British Institute of Innkeeping and CODE Hospitality.

UKHospitality LAUNCHES NUTRITION GUIDE
UKHospitality’s Nutrition Guide, launched at Caravan Covent Garden, offers practical and accessible support for hospitality businesses wanting to enhance their healthy menu options.
Primarily aimed at chefs and catering managers, the guide covers food preparation, designing healthier meals and menus, and responsibly marketing food.
The publication of the guide is another demonstration of UKHospitality’s steadfast commitment to supporting its members across the wider food agenda, particularly when demand for nutrition and healthy eating continues to increase.
With a multitude of cost and regulatory pressures facing businesses, the guide can particularly support SMEs that want to make progress in this space but may not have the resource available to do so alone.
Allen Simpson, Chief Executive of UKHospitality, said: “Hospitality businesses have made huge strides to support healthier eating. As a sector, we continue to adapt our offering to support an increasingly healthconscious consumer, while maintaining our high standards of delicious food and memorable experiences. Our new Nutrition Guide supports those efforts. Crucially, it gives SMEs a go-to guide that can support them to make progress across menu and dish design, at a time when resource and cost pressures may have prevented them from doing so.”
Wan Mak, Head of Nutrition and Dietetics, Sodexo UK & Ireland, and Chair of UKHospitality’s Nutrition Group, said: “Our industry has shown remarkable resilience and innovation, and this Nutrition Guide builds on that progress by equipping chefs, catering operators and training providers with practical tools to put nutrition at the heart of their offer. The guide will strengthen confidence, knowledge and standards across the sector, helping to create food that is delicious, safe and nutritious, while supporting healthier choices and developing future talent across the out of home sector.”
NOËL & MARQUET INVITES YOU TO EMBRACE THE TIMELESS APPEAL OF ART DECO IN CONTEMPORARY INTERIORS
With their collection of decorative profiles, wall elements and architectural details NOËL & MARQUET is highlighting the enduring influence of Art Deco and reinterpreting one of design’s most iconic aesthetics for showing how it can be included in today’s interiors.
Emerging in the 1920s and 1930s, Art Deco became synonymous with glamour, symmetry and confidence. Defined by bold geometric lines, elegant curves and rich visual
contrast, the style continues to inspire contemporary interiors, from statement architecture such as the Michelin Building in London to decorative detailing and furniture. While traditional Art Deco schemes can feel highly formal for modern living, its distinctive motifs and sense of sophistication remain highly desirable.
Today, designers and homeowners are increasingly drawing on Art Deco influences in a more subtle, adaptable way.
“Defined by bold geometric lines, elegant curves and rich visual contrast, the style continues to inspire contemporary interiors, from statement architecture such as the Michelin Building in London to decorative detailing and furniture.”
Decorative wall panelling and mouldings are no longer confined to hallways or dining rooms; thanks to advances in durability and moisture resistance, 3D wall panels and profiles can now be used throughout the home, including kitchens and bathrooms, making it easier to introduce a refined Deco-inspired look in any room.
NOËL & MARQUET’s Art Deco-inspired profiles translate this design language into clean, architectural forms that unlike styles from other eras sit comfortably within today’s modern schemes. Cornices, chair rails, wall panels, lighting profiles and skirtings are designed to add structure, rhythm and character, whether framing a wall, defining a ceiling or creating a polished transition between wall and floor.
The collection combines refined surfaces with practical performance. Designed and produced in Belgium, NOËL & MARQUET’s ranges include ready-to-paint profiles that gives designers and consumers the freedom to embrace classic Deco hues such as jewel tones, deep contrasts, metallic accents or work with a softer contemporary palette.
The renewed interest in Art Deco reflects a wider appetite for expressive yet enduring design. By pairing decorative detail with contemporary practicality, NOËL & MARQUET offers a way to bring the elegance of the era into modern homes with a fresh and accessible twist.

A PALM SPRINGS–MEETS–ITALIAN MODERNIST BAR IN NYC BY Legaeard Studio
In the heart of downtown Manhattan, the Hyatt Union Square unveils a striking transformation: a fully reimagined lobby and cocktail lounge, envisioned as a dreamlike blend of stylish hospitality and midcentury allure. Brought to life by New York-based Legeard Studio, the debut adds a sophisticated new layer to the neighborhood’s storied past.
The project began with a complete gut renovation, rethinking the double-height interiors to create a space that feels equal parts hotel and cultural neighborhood salon. Palm Springs modernism meets Milanese elegance upon arrival, where a bespoke patterned tile floor sets a tone that is both retro and contemporary. A richly veined reception desk anchors the entry beneath a monumental painting commissioned from local artist Joe Henry Baker, while a Bauhaus-inspired stained-glass wall creates a dramatic backdrop, casting filtered light in bold blocks of color. Overhead, a cluster of sculptural lantern pendants recalls Isamu Noguchi, their warm glow softening the architectural volume.
From grandeur, the design pivots to intimacy. A guest lounge wrapped in warm wood paneling channels the relaxed comfort of 1970s sofa pits, layered with a playful rug and polished vintage accents. Just beyond, a towering installation of lush greenery rises as a living partition, dividing the lobby while cloaking the cocktail bar in a sense of discovery.
Inside, the cocktail lounge showcases carefully curated textures and colors
inspired by nature, with soaring columns encased in diamond-patterned woodwork and Murano glass-inspired sconces. Custom furnishings nod to midcentury masters, while vintage pieces are reupholstered in soft, elevated fabrics. Circular booths gather around Sergio Mazza’s iconic Alfa lamps, their halos of light inspiring intimacy and conversation.
The impressive bar emerges as the central showpiece, with a Charlotte Perriand-inspired bottle shelf rising before a stunning expanse of Verde Antigua marble. Above it, a vast plaster relief installation ripples across the wall, catching light and shadow in sculptural layers. Three cascading chandeliers, reminiscent of antique Venetian glasswork, float above with a theatrical presence. By night, the lounge transforms into an immersive destination where dim lighting, warm textures, and a curated soundtrack conjure a distinctly New York energy that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
Located at the crossroads of downtown Manhattan, Union Square has long served as a cultural hub shaped by creativity and community. With its renewed identity, the Hyatt Union Square reintroduces itself as an upscale neighborhood anchor, welcoming guests and locals into a space where timeless craftsmanship meets the evolving rhythm of downtown. More than a renovation, the transformation marks a thoughtful reinvention of the hotel’s role within the district.
JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED
We take a peek behind the scenes of
Sedbergh Soap Company and meet
founder,
Dorthe Pratt
Upon entering Sedbergh Soap Company, you are met with a sensational scent and shelves of jars labelled with intriguing names like Highland Verbena and Bog Myrtle. And this is where founder Dorthe Pratt lights up: 'This is where it all happens, this is the heart of the business where I tinker with ingredients, and new concepts take form,' she says with passion in her voice. 'I love to collaborate with people who appreciate the highquality ingredients and skill that go into our products.'
Now one such collaboration with Monachyle Mhor Hotel in the Trossachs, to create Dr Osbourne’s Botanical Collection, a series of organic bath and skincare products, has scooped three awards at the Health and Wellbeing Awards 2025.
With 14 products over four scents, the judges were spoilt for choice.
Lisa Lewis of Monachyle Mhor says: 'We're very excited, Sedbergh Soap and Mhor have worked together for almost 20 years. I'm often asked why we are not using Scottish soap in our highland hotel, my answer is simply because discovering Dorthe and Sedbergh Soap Co always felt like a natural fit: an independent, organically grown company, with integrity at its core. Our trust in Dorthe to understand our vision feels natural in every way.'
So, who is Dr Osbourne? A bit of research suggests the doctor was a dashing adventurer who travelled the world in search of healing botanicals, which he brought home to share with his friends. Tom Lewis, chef patron at Monachyle Mhor explains: 'Yes, Dr Osbourne was a real person but as it is up here, stories are added to over time.
'Dr Osbourne is part of the fabric of our hotel, and I think of him as a summary of all the people who have inspired me in my life.' Tom adds: 'Herbs are our heroes. They each have their own super-powers and we’re just at the start of the discovery. Dr Osbourne’s botanicals thrive here with us in our highland landscape, against all odds. The first Dr Osbourne's products were in fact our gins, which we created with a local herbalist and distiller.'
With so much going on, what might the doctor prescribe next? 'Over the years we had often discussed a collaboration to create something Mhor, with a luxury spa in mind. As time passed, we realised that our surroundings here at Monachyle Mhor are nature’s natural spa. Dorthe is already busy creating spa products to work in harmony with the landscape,' Lisa concludes.

The Drey TEAMS UP WITH Tiny Explorers TO SIMPLIFY FAMILY TRAVEL IN LONDON
Travelling to London with young children often means packing half the house. Earl’s Court hotel The Drey has found a better way.
The hotel has announced a new partnership with Tiny Explorers, the London-based baby equipment rental service, giving families a simpler, lighter way to visit the capital. Guests can browse and book a curated range of baby and toddler equipment through a dedicated link on The Drey’s website, including the Babyzen Yoyo pram and the Doona travel system, with everything delivered to the hotel ahead of arrival. Families travel light; their kit is waiting when they check in.
The partnership sits naturally alongside The Drey’s wider ethos. Built around a staff-light, room-only model that strips out the facilities most guests never use, the hotel keeps its rates genuinely affordable without compromising on design or comfort. It is a particularly compelling offer for families, who tend to spend their time out in the city rather than lingering in a hotel lobby. Combined with flexible room types designed specifically for families and groups, it makes The Drey a smart, easy choice for a London city break with children.
The Drey already caters well for guests with children, offering a collection of four and six-person family rooms designed to make sharing feel easy, comfortable
and considered. Options include The Nest for 4 and The Nook for 4, both featuring king-size bunk beds, alongside The Warren for 6, which combines a king-size bunk bed with a twin bunk bed. Accessible versions are also available, including The Accessible Nest for 4 and The Accessible Warren for 6, offering step-free layouts and roll-in showers. Little guests are also welcomed with a children’s travel guide and activity book, giving younger explorers a head start
As sustainability reshapes the standards of luxury hospitality, design and environmental responsibility are no longer separate considerations, they are inseparable. Responding to this shift, Groupe GM, a global leader in premium guest amenities, unveils Ecofill Stonecast: a next-generation evolution
on the city before they’ve even left the room.
Its Earl’s Court location puts guests within easy reach of some of London’s most loved family destinations, including the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the wide open spaces of Hyde Park.
Online check-in, keyless entry and a dedicated guest app mean there are no queues and no fuss on arrival, and the Tiny Explorers partnership ensures the kit is already there when they walk through the door. With family-sized rooms, affordable rates, thoughtful extras for children and baby equipment ready on arrival, The Drey is positioning itself as one of the capital’s most straightforward choices for a family city stay.
All Tiny Explorers equipment is deepcleaned, safety-checked and inspected before each rental, so parents can travel with full confidence that what is waiting for them at The Drey is every bit as safe and well-maintained as the kit they use at home.
Kieran James, General Manager of The Drey, comments: “Families have enough to think about when they travel. We want The Drey to be the easy part. Working with Tiny Explorers means parents can pack light and still have everything they need the moment they walk through the door.

material elevates the dispenser from a mere functional item to a distinctive element of the guest experience and interior design.
Designed for real-world demands
Ecofill, the patented, refillable, and safe dispenser system, has been meticulously refined through years of expertise and client feedback. Trusted by prestigious hotels and groups worldwide, Ecofill has become an integral part of the modern guest experience.
In contrast to many bulk refill systems that pose hygiene and bacterial risks, Ecofill eliminates uncontrolled bulk refilling by utilising sealed, fully traceable pouches, ensuring product integrity and safety from factory to guestroom. The system streamlines hotel operations by enabling staff to replace pouches in under 30 seconds, combining efficiency with high standards of cleanliness and reliability.
Families can book Tiny Explorers equipment directly through The Drey’s website, with all items delivered to the hotel ahead of check-in.

SWEDISH PACKAGING-TECH STARTUP MEADOW ENTERS THE HOSPITALITY SECTOR WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE MEADOW KAPSUL™ SLEEVELOCK™, A CIRCULAR WALL-MOUNTED DISPENSER SYSTEM FOR HOTELS, SALONS AND SPAS
Meadow, the award-winning Swedish packaging technology company and one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2026, has launched the MEADOW KAPSUL™ SleeveLock™, a wallmounted dispenser system for personal care products. The dispenser is designed specifically for hotel groups, salons, spas and businesses across the wider hospitality sector. Built on Meadow's MEADOW KAPSUL™ technology, the system can be refilled directly in the room in 22 seconds and is aligned with incoming EU and US single-use plastic regulations. Meadow is now in active conversations with hotel groups and expects pilot programmes to happen in 2026.
For hospitality workers, single-use plastic is becoming both a regulatory and operational problem. The EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and California's SB54 are among a growing wave of frameworks targeting small-format single-use plastic packaging, with several major hotel chains already committed to phasing out miniature toiletry bottles by 2027. Existing alternatives have not solved the problem at scale: bulk refill systems require timeconsuming back-of-house decanting and introduce cross-contamination risk, while standard refillable dispensers are slow to change and difficult to audit consistently across multiple properties. The MEADOW KAPSUL™ SleeveLock™ is designed to remove those trade-offs entirely.
The MEADOW KAPSUL™ SleeveLock™ replaces conventional single-use amenity bottles with a circular system for toiletries, customisable finishes and labelling offer bespoke branding opportunities, designed for mid to high-end hospitality facilities. The launch expands the potential applications of the traditional aluminium can beyond beverages and into the hospitality sector for the first time. The MEADOW KAPSUL™ SleeveLock™ is available at an industry competitive price point. Global and local hotel amenity suppliers such as Alba 1913, a personal care supplier to the hotel industry, are already in advanced talks for early adoption.
The launch is underpinned by Meadow's global commercial partnership with Ball Corporation, a leading sustainable aluminium container provider, and DRT Holdings, the largest global supplier of easy-open end system parts, giving Meadow the industrial capability to replace billions of linear containers. The company's supply chain also includes Stephen Gould, who are producing dispensers. By combining aluminium’s circular properties with a system designed for operational use in hospitality environments, the solution addresses both sustainability and usability challenges.
MEADOW KAPSUL™ SleeveLock™ Product Features
• Just over 20-second refill: When compared to the four minutes it can take to refill a traditional bulk dispenser bottle, a pre-filled cartridge is loaded into a secure wall-mounted bracket. The aluminium can that goes inside the customer dispenser is replaced directly in the guest room in 22 seconds, with no funnels, spouts or decanting required. The system is lighter and easier to carry than large bulk containers, and has been designed to deliver predictable room turnaround times and faster staff onboarding across regions.
• Customisable fill level indicator: The system uses a discreet, customisable fill level indicator for staff to know when to refill it when it is time to change, making it straightforward to train, audit and scale consistently across multiple locations.
• Tamper-free hygiene system: The MEADOW KAPSUL™ SleeveLock™ system is tamper-free as standard. A complete product change at each refill mitigates crosscontamination risk. The pump change requires no finger contact and the smooth wipeclean exterior has no waterpooling features, reducing handling, mess and variability across locations.
• Discreet wall-mounted design with flexible branding: The modern wall-mounted design is suited to mid to high-end properties, with customisable finishes and labelling to support branding opportunities.
Tigermilk BRINGS HACIENDA GRANDEUR TO THE HEART OF East London
Their modern South American inspired interior brings life to their largest site to London.
Following its successful opening in May, Tigermilk Spitalfields’s interior has emerged as one of the defining elements of the new flagship restaurant by Alexis and Nina Melikov, the group’s largest site to date.
Designed by Studio Leche, Tigermilk’s in-house design studio, the space brings together hacienda-inspired architecture, layered materials and a warm, transportive atmosphere that has become central to the guest experience. Conceived as an escape in the heart of Spitalfields, the ambition was to build an environment that guests would immediately want to stay in, rather than one designed purely to be photographed.

With its new 280-cover restaurant, haciendainspired interiors and striking luminescent bar stocked with more than 2700 bottles, Tigermilk Spitalfields invites guests into what feels like the brand’s thirteenth home.
Central patios, generous proportions, fountains, handcrafted materials and lush greenery give the space its structure and soul, evoking the kind of environment that takes decades to settle into its surroundings. Antique furniture sits alongside bespoke pieces, and reclaimed terracotta, natural stone, marble and aged timber are used throughout, materials that carry history and wear it well.
“People rarely talk about specific design features. They talk about the atmosphere,” adds Alexis. “If people leave believing the space possesses a history, then we have succeeded in creating something that feels authentic rather than constructed.”
A considered selection of suppliers and craftspeople underpins the interior. Sogni and Pooky provide the lighting, Pierre Frey and Morris the fabrics and upholstery, and Mandarin Stone the marble and stone surfaces. Flexhouse - responsible for custom joinery, millwork and bespoke fabrication - also contributed to the furniture alongside vintage pieces and Leta, while Resources delivered the decorative wall finishes. Together they bring a layered quality to the space, as though each element has its own provenance and story.

HOW STAYCATIONS ARE CREATING A NEW LUXURY OPPORTUNITY FOR UK HOTELS
By Catherine Morris, Managing Director at Tradelinens
For years, staycations have been seen as a seasonal trend, shaped by school holidays, tighter household budgets or exceptional events such as the pandemic. But changing consumer behaviour suggests a deeper shift is underway.
Our recent research found that more than a third of Britons are cutting back on overseas holidays this year, choosing smaller, more frequent experiences closer to home in favour of one major trip abroad.
We’re witnessing the rise of the ‘micro luxury’; a premium dinner, a spa day or a mini break can feel more attainable,
repeatable and emotionally valuable than a costly long-haul holiday. For operators, that means the guest experience needs to work harder in shorter windows. A one-night stay or weekend break has to deliver a real sense of restoration.
The rise of the sleepcation
One of the clearest signs of this shift and a prime example of a ‘micro luxury’ is the rise of the sleepcation. Almost a quarter of Londoners in our research said they had booked a hotel stay purely to catch up on sleep, compared with a national average of one in ten. The trend is especially strong among millennials, with 18% of 35 to 44-yearolds saying they had booked a stay for this reason. Sleep is no longer just a basic expectation of the room; it is becoming part of the reason people book. Guests are increasingly using hotels not only as a base for sightseeing or special occasions, but as places to reset and recover.
Hoteliers should take this opportunity to differentiate through detail. The feel of the sheets, the weight of the duvet, the quality of the pillows all contribute significantly to the guest experience. And, as the textiles guests have the most direct contact with, bedding and towels are sensory experiences in their
own right; how they feel, as much as how they look, can play a significant role in conscious and subconscious feelings of relaxation. These elements may seem operational, but to the guest they are emotional, shaping whether a stay feels memorable and worth repeating.
Home from home
There is a lack of confidence when it comes to holiday rentals, though. Almost a third of those booking rental properties over hotels said they would take their own bedding with them, while nearly a quarter would take bedding for their pet. If guests feel they need to bring the basics themselves, the accommodation experience is already falling short.
All year-round indulgence
The ‘micro luxury’ trend extends beyond hotel stays. Our research found that consumers cutting back on foreign travel are redirecting spend towards hospitality experiences such as restaurant visits, spa days, gym memberships and personal training. That points to a broader appetite for year-round indulgence, a positive message for UK hospitality.
Consumers are not rejecting luxury; they are redefining it. They want comfort without complication, escape without long-haul travel and indulgence that feels accessible enough to enjoy more often. Operators that recognise this shift can move the conversation beyond the staycation and towards a more resilient, all-yearround model of domestic demand.

The Craft Guild of Chefs has announced the 10 talented chefs through to the final of Young National Chef of the Year (YNCOTY), following the much-anticipated return of live semi-finals for the first time since 2019.
The London heat at Capital City College Westminster took place yesterday, following last week’s opening semifinal at Sheffield College, with chefs across both cook-offs competing for a place in this year’s final.
Inez Roggema, chef de partie from The Ledbury and Alex Williams, chef de partie at Mallory Court Country House Hotel & Spa were seeded straight to the final after achieving top spots in the Graduate Awards and British Culinary Federation’s Young Chef of the Year respectively. A place in the final will also be awarded to the highest achiever in the kitchen category of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Annual Awards for Excellence.
Following the cook-off, Chair of YNCOTY, Tom Shepherd, confirmed the following chefs have also secured their place in the final:

Competitors were challenged to demonstrate strong technical skills starting with a butchery test using a whole Gressingham duck before serving up their own duck main course using a Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce or Char Siu Sauce. David Mulcahy, competition director and Vice-President of the Craft Guild of Chefs, said: “It was so good to see the young chefs back in a live semi-final where they faced the challenge of a new environment to cook in, the pressure of a two-hour time limit and some of the top chefs in the UK watching their every move.
“The judges were impressed with the high standard across both heats. To reach the final is a significant milestone in any young chef’s career. I would particularly like to thank the judges involved this year for adding their expertise and engaging so positively with the young chefs throughout the competition.”
Tom Shepherd, chair of judges, added: “The level of cooking across both heats made selecting our finalists difficult but I’m confident we’ve got a very exciting final ahead of us in October. As judges, we were looking for chefs who have strong technical skills, who can create delicious flavours and showed a real understanding of the brief that I set.

WHY MISOOL IS 2026’S WORLD’S BEST DIVING DESTINATION:
Atzaró Collection unveils Raja Ampat’s iconic dive sites
As global attention turns to ocean conservation, Atzaró Collection shines a spotlight on the region of Misool in Raja Ampat, Indonesia - one of the world’s leading dive destinations for 2026, thanks to its extraordinary biodiversity and some of the most pristine, unspoilt coral reefs on the planet.
The islands are accessed aboard the award-winning charter yacht Prana by Atzaró, a beautifully crafted wooden phinisi designed for scuba diving and snorkelling adventures as well as the ultimate in barefoot luxury islandhopping. With 900 sqm of space, and nine lavish suites, life onboard is rich with fine dining, a wellness-focused spa, spectacular yoga deck, cinema under the stars and a professional crew to provide the best of service. Winner of a place on the coveted Condé Nast Traveller Gold List, Prana by Atzaró is the ultimate luxury travel experience for discerning adventure seekers.
The Signature Dive Sites Defining Raja Ampat
The Daram Islands: A Kaleidoscope of Life
Among the most revered dive locations in Raja Ampat, the Daram Islands, east of Misool in calm conditions, offer an extraordinary concentration of marine life and remain a personal favourite among divers. A series of exposed rocky pinnacles rise from the sea, with sites such as Many Colours, Andiamo, Candy Store, and Andy’s Ultimate each revealing a different facet of this underwater world.
where both reef manta rays and oceanic manta rays can be seen together. A submerged pinnacle rising from around 5 metres to over 30 metres, it functions as a natural cleaning station, drawing mantas into slow, looping formations as smaller fish attend to them.
Surrounded by schooling trevally, barracuda, sweetlips, fusiliers, and yellow snapper, along with black-tip sharks and red snapper, the site is alive with constant movement and energy. The top of the pinnacle is covered in healthy coral interwoven with whip corals and large barrel sponges, adding texture and colour to this already dramatic underwater landscape.
These waters remain one of the planet’s most intact reef systems - a rare example of marine biodiversity thriving at scale.
“ “
Located in the heart of the Coral Triangle, Raja Ampat is widely recognised as the most biodiverse marine environment on Earth, home to more than 75% of known coral species and an astonishing abundance of marine life. Increasingly, it represents a shift in modern dive travel - from heavily visited reef systems, to ecosystems still functioning at their full natural scale.
Misool’s remoteness is central to this distinction. With access primarily by sea rather than direct air routes, visitor numbers remain naturally limited, allowing Raja Ampat to remain one of the last great marine regions - where biodiversity thrives largely undisturbed, and where the underwater world retains a rare sense of scale, abundance and authenticity.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the southern reaches of the archipelago, within Misool, where long-standing conservation, dramatic reef formations and powerful currents have created one of the last true strongholds of ocean life. Sailing through these pristine waters, Prana by Atzaró offers rare access to a collection of signature dive sites that define why Raja Ampat is one of the most exceptional diving experiences in the world.
Vast schools of chevron barracuda, batfish, sweetlips, fusiliers, bumphead parrotfish, and big eye trevally create shifting silver clouds, while grey reef, white tip, and black tip sharks, along with giant groupers and Napoleon wrasse, patrol the currents.
Rare pygmy seahorses cling to gorgonian sea fans, while nudibranchs, shrimp, and candy crabs inhabit rich soft corals. Reef octopus are also frequently seen, alongside healthy hard coral in the shallows, including staghorn, brain, and pillar corals.
Magic Mountain: Where Mantas Gather
Magic Mountain (Karang Bayangan) is one of the region’s most iconic dive sites and one of the few places in the world
Boo Window & Boo Point: An Underwater Icon
Boo Window is instantly recognisable: a natural submerged archway carved through the reef, framing the deep blue beyond and creating one of the most photographed underwater scenes in Indonesia. The site sits around a small island with multiple entry points depending on current, with shallow reefs from around 5 metres ideal for snorkellers and deeper walls dropping beyond 30 metres.
Nearby, Boo Point on the eastern side is a highly active manta cleaning station, where reef mantas glide effortlessly above thriving coral gardens. The surrounding water is filled with movement - batfish that often follow divers in playful curiosity, and yellowtail barracuda, alongside black tip sharks. The reef structure is equally rich, with barrel sponges, whip corals, gorgonian and sea fans, creating a dense, layered habitat.
Four Kings: The Power of the Pinnacles
Four Kings - named after the literal translation of Raja Ampat, “Four Kings” - is a dramatic formation of four submerged pinnacles, each with its own distinct ecosystem. Rising from around 5 metres to beyond 30 metres, the site is so extensive it typically requires two dives to fully explore.
The tops of the pinnacles act as cleaning stations for reef manta rays while spotted eagle rays are frequently encountered gliding between the formations, adding scale and elegance to the scene. Strong currents draw in vast schools of chevron barracuda, batfish, sweetlips, fusiliers and parrotfish.
The reef is filled with life in constant motion - damselfish and cardinalfish sheltering in crevices alongside colourful wrasse and coral shrimpfish.
Neptune’s Fan Sea: A Living Coral Tapestry
Neptune’s Fan Sea is a celebration of coral in its most abundant form. Located in the channel between Wayil Batan and Walib Islands, the site is renowned for its extraordinary density of life, with soft corals, whip corals, and sea fans stretching from the surface down to around 28 metres. It is also highly accessible for snorkellers, with the reef rising close to the top of the water column.
The walls are densely covered in colourful gorgonian sea fans, Dendronepthya soft corals, and sponges, to the point where bare rock is almost impossible to find. Rather than large predators, the focus here is on intricate reef ecosystems,
where smaller species thrive in the shelter of the coral structure.
Scorpionfish and stonefish lie camouflaged among the reef, while yellow-edged moray eels weave through crevices. The water is alive with damselfish, anemonefish, angelfish, wrasse, butterflyfish, pufferfish, and coral sea trout, alongside hawksbill turtles and multiple species of pygmy seahorses hidden within the coral branches.
Celebrating the Ocean
Prana by Atzaró highlights the importance of protecting marine ecosystems like those found in Raja Ampat.
These waters remain one of the planet’s most intact reef systems - a rare example of marine biodiversity thriving at scale. Experiencing them first-hand offers not only extraordinary encounters, but also
a deeper appreciation of the oceans and their future.
With its refined design, slow-travel ethos, and access to some of the world’s most exceptional dive sites, Prana by Atzaró represents a meaningful way to celebrate and safeguard the natural world.
Seasonal Voyages for 2026/27
Raja Ampat: December to April - over 1,500 islands, turquoise waters and untouched coral reefs.
The Spice Islands: May & November - rich in history, volcanic landscapes, and secluded beaches.
Komodo National Park: June to October - pink sand beaches, crystal waters, and legendary Komodo dragons.
Full Prana by Atzaró yacht charter rates start at $20,000 per night, depending on season.

HERITAGE-LED ALFRESCO LUXURY AT Titanic Hotel Liverpool
Titanic Hotel Liverpool has designed its outdoor spaces to act as an organic extension of the property’s historic identity. This philosophy is beautifully epitomized by the Colonnades.
Stretching seamlessly along the entire waterside facade at the back of the hotel, this expansive terrace serves as a stunning open-air extension of both the popular Rum Bar and the theatre-style restaurant, Stanley’s Bar & Grill. Rather than relying on temporary installations, the hotel has focused on a permanent, premium alfresco destination that connects visitors directly to the industrial soul of the city.
Dining on the Colonnades allows guests to sit directly beneath the original cast-iron columns while looking across the waters of Stanley Dock at the monumental Tobacco Warehouse. The majestic scale of the Victorian architecture provides a dramatic backdrop that enhances the guest experience, replacing a generic outdoor
terrace with an atmospheric waterfront setting steeped in history. By anchoring the space within its original industrial framework and preserving the raw textures of the stone and brickwork, the hotel has successfully created an immersive environment that honors Liverpool’s rich mercantile past while delivering a premium lifestyle experience.
The atmosphere shifts seamlessly from daytime tranquility to evening elegance. A defining feature of the Colonnades experience is its flexible dual-menu approach, allowing guests to order from the two onsite dining establishments. During the day, the space serves as a calm waterfront escape where casual diners can opt for lighter selections from the Rum Bar menu, such as a flavorful Cajun Chicken Ciabatta, a crisp classic Caesar Salad, or fresh Poached Salmon served with dill crème fraîche.
For those seeking a more substantial lunch or dinner right on the dockside, guests can order directly from the Stanley’s Bar & Grill menu. This showcases a diverse array of hearty, comforting classics, including traditional Beer Battered Fish and Chips, a plantbased Grilled Kofta Kebab served with flatbread and chickpea hummus, and premium 28-day dry-aged steaks fresh from the char-grill. As dusk falls, subtle lighting accentuates the historic red-brick facade, and the terrace becomes a prime spot for a luxury evening drink right at the water’s edge, attracting a vibrant mix of hotel residents and local city diners.
Complementing the food offering is a targeted beverage selection that celebrates Stanley Dock’s history as a major international trading hub. The bar boasts an impressive collection of over 60 rums sourced from across the globe, which take center stage in signature summer cocktails like the Titanic Mai Tai and the complex Jungle Bird. Alongside the rum menu, the bar offers an expansive wine list featuring crisp, summer-ready varietals like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Italian Gavi di Gavi, alongside a premium selection of Lanson Champagnes—ideal for sunset toasts by the water.
By prioritizing architectural integrity, scenic waterfront views, and a completely flexible dual food and beverage offering, Titanic Hotel Liverpool has created a timeless destination. The integration of both menus with the historic charm of the Colonnades shows how a well-curated dining strategy can breathe new life into heritage spaces, establishing a standout summer destination on Liverpool’s famous waterfront.

It’ s a neighbourhood that appeals equally to business travellers on extended stays and leisure guests exploring the city.
IN LIFE
Set within a reimagined Georgian townhouse and with an individual entrance on Seymour Street, Mour will be an intimate 60-seater restaurant including a 20-seater sun-lit courtyard open all year round courtesy of its retractable roof.

tapestries and artefacts will sit alongside clean lines, marble accents and considered fabrics giving the feeling of an elevated, well-loved home. Step outside, and the courtyard will transport you somewhere closer to Tuscany: a calm retreat in the middle of busy Marylebone.
For Saachi Sehgal, the restaurant is a deeply personal project. He and his sister, Sienna, grew up spending time at their family-run Leonard Hotel next door, and that sense of ease and belonging became the blueprint; a space where the setting feels considered, but never formal - a genuine home away from home.
The name Mour is a subtle nod to its home on Seymour Street, whilst also encapsulating the warm and generous ethos of the restaurant - “a place to celebrate ‘the more’ in life”, says Saachi, “the longer lunches, the second bottle, the conversations that spill into the evening”.
The result is something that Marylebone has been missing: an all-day dining destination that moves with the rhythm of the neighbourhood from morning through to late evening.
Mour will mark a new chapter for The Leonard - reimagining a longstanding Marylebone address through a contemporary lens.

WHY THE FUTURE OF LUXURY HOSPITALITY DEPENDS ON A NEW KIND OF LEADER
By Carlos Díez de la Lastra, CEO of Les Roches
Luxury hospitality is not simply evolving, it is being fundamentally redefined. What was once centred on ownership, status and visible symbols of success has shifted decisively toward experience,
emotion and meaning. Today, luxury is less about what guests possess and more about how they feel, how deeply they connect, and how personally relevant each moment becomes.
This transformation is structural. Experiential luxury – travel, hospitality, wellness and fine dining – is now the primary engine of growth in the global luxury economy, while many traditional product driven segments face maturity or decline (Bain & Company & Altagamma, Luxury Goods Worldwide Market Study 2025). At the same time, high net worth consumers are reallocating spending toward immersive experiences that reflect their identity, values and sense of purpose (McKinsey & Company, State of Luxury 2025).
As a result, hospitality now sits at the very centre of luxury’s future. Yet while capital continues to flow into architecture, design and technology, the industry risks underinvesting in the one factor that truly defines experience: leadership.
If luxury hospitality organisations continue to educate, hire and promote leaders primarily for operational control
rather than emotional intelligence, they will become more efficient yet increasingly forgettable. In an experience-led economy, excellence can no longer be delivered through systems and standards alone. It is created through human connection.
The future of luxury hospitality therefore depends on a new kind of leader.
As luxury becomes less transactional and more relational, the industry requires hybrid capability leaders –individuals who combine emotional intelligence, cultural fluency and creativity with digital knowledge and data awareness. Technology, particularly artificial intelligence, is rapidly transforming hospitality, enabling hyper personalisation, predictive service design and operational efficiency at large scale.
Yet the brands that outperform are those that treat AI as an enabler rather than a substitute, allowing technology to handle data and repetition while leaders focus on judgement, empathy and relationship building.
Artificial intelligence will not dilute luxury but it will expose it. Brands that have not invested deeply in human capability will quickly discover that data alone cannot replace intuition, trust or cultural sensitivity (McKinsey; BCG, Hospitality Horizons 2026).
At the same time, luxury itself is becoming more intimate and intentional. Guests increasingly favour smaller, more curated environments such as boutique properties, low occupancy concepts and experiences characterised by scarcity, privacy and personal relevance. Exclusivity is no longer defined by price or scale, but by access, anticipation and authenticity.
Wellness has also moved from an amenity to a strategic pillar of luxury hospitality. What began as spa indulgence has evolved into holistic wellbeing encompassing mental health, longevity, sleep quality, nutrition and reconnection with nature. Luxury is now seen as an investment in quality of life, not merely lifestyle.
Sustainability, meanwhile, has become non negotiable. For today’s luxury guests, environmental and social responsibility are no longer optional signals; they are prerequisites. Responsible design, ethical sourcing and meaningful engagement with local communities are now inseparable from perceptions of quality and credibility. These shifts in guest expectations are mirrored equally by changes in talent
expectations. Young professionals entering hospitality today are not simply seeking a role; they are seeking alignment, growth and purpose. Research consistently shows that purpose and values are decisive factors in career choice and retention, particularly among Gen Z and Millennials (Deloitte, Global 2025 Gen Z and Millennial Survey).
Yet while the industry frequently speaks about talent shortages, it rarely questions how leaders are prepared in the first place. In an experienced luxury economy, educating for efficiency rather than emotional intelligence is no longer sufficient. Leadership readiness must be redefined: earlier, deeper and with far greater emphasis on human capability, and industry exposure alongside technological knowledge.
Luxury hospitality’s leadership challenge begins long before hiring. As the industry shifts toward experience and human connection, leadership preparation must evolve accordingly placing emotional intelligence alongside technical capability. Failing to do so risks slowing the industry’s relevance over time.
This calls for a closer and more deliberate integration between education and business. Academic institutions and hospitality organisations can no longer operate on parallel tracks. Curricula must evolve in step with guest expectations, embedding real world complexity, cultural intelligence, ethical leadership and emotional intelligence into the formation of future leaders. Learning must be continuous, experiential and
purpose driven not confined to the early stages of a career.
The organisations that succeed in this environment are those that make a clear promise to their people: that in creating exceptional places and experiences, individuals also create their own growth, identity and legacy. When that promise is lived through inclusive policies, continuous development and shared achievement, loyalty follows, particularly among younger leaders who value authenticity.
Ultimately, the future of luxury hospitality will not be shaped by architecture, algorithms or scale alone. It will be defined by people.
In a world increasingly optimised for efficiency, the ultimate differentiator remains human connection and thus, the ability to inspire trust, foster belonging and create meaning. The leaders of tomorrow must be trained to think relationally rather than transactionally, to manage emotion as carefully as performance.
Talent strategy is therefore no longer a support function. It is a leadership mandate. The institutions and organisations that recognise this and invest accordingly will shape not only the future of hospitality, but the future of luxury itself.
Luxury hospitality’s next era will not be defined by the experiences we design, but by the leaders we educate because the future of luxury is ultimately a human one.

Glion Institute of Higher Education BRINGS INDUSTRY EXPERTS TOGETHER IN MILAN TO EXPLORE HOW GEN ALPHA WILL REDEFINE LUXURY
As the luxury and hospitality industries prepare for one of the most significant generational shifts in decades, Glion Institute of Higher Education gathered leading voices from hospitality, branding, luxury and talent management at the Bulgari Hotel Milano for an exclusive roundtable entitled “Gen Alpha: The Generation That Will Reinvent Luxury”.
Moderated by luxury and hospitality journalist Sara Magro, the discussion explored how Generation Alpha – the generation born after 2010 – is expected to profoundly reshape the codes, expectations and business models of luxury in the years ahead. According to Bain & Company, younger generations including Gen Z and Gen Alpha are projected to represent up to 80% of global luxury purchases by 2030, while Gen Alpha itself is expected to become the largest generation in history, with more than two billion individuals globally. Raised entirely in the age of artificial intelligence, hyperconnectivity and permanent digital immersion, Gen Alpha is already influencing brand perception, digital culture and purchasing behaviours long before becoming a fully active consumer generation.
The event highlighted how Glion remains closely attuned to the evolving dynamics
shaping the future of luxury hospitality, while actively preparing students and industry partners for the transformations already impacting the sector.
The roundtable brought together:
• Giovanni Manfredini, Head of Guest Experience & Event Management Specialisation at Glion Institute of Higher Education
• Margot Canfeur, Director of L’Amour Agency
• Stephen Alden, Glion Alumnus & former CEO of Raffles Hotels & Orient Express
• Serena Dognini, HR Manager of Bulgari Hotel Milano
Redefining the codes of luxury for a new generation
Throughout the discussion, speakers examined how younger generations are redefining luxury through new expectations around authenticity, sustainability, personalisation, emotional value and cultural relevance. Particular attention was also given to the growing tension between accessibility and exclusivity in an era dominated by social media visibility and permanent digital exposure.
Giovanni Manfredini commented: “For Gen Alpha, luxury will no longer simply be synonymous with exclusivity, but rather with a deeply personal experience built around identity, emotions and individual values. Today’s younger consumers seek authenticity, transparency and meaningful connections with brands: the product alone is no longer enough – what truly matters is how an experience makes you feel. The future evolution of the sector will therefore depend on brands’ ability to create coherent, human and personalised experiential ecosystems.”
The conversation further explored the evolution of luxury hospitality toward more emotional, immersive and experience-driven models, where human connection and meaning increasingly outweigh traditional status symbols. Speakers highlighted how hospitality brands are progressively becoming cultural ecosystems, sitting at the crossroads of lifestyle, wellness, communication and experiential design.
Margot Canfeur added:
“Luxury has become culturally accessible through social media, creators and digital content, but precisely because of this, brands must rediscover authenticity and intimacy.”
“Gen Alpha has grown up in the age of algorithms and discovers the world through platforms, influencers and digital communities: this is why brands are now called to build increasingly deep emotional relationships, creating experiences and content capable of conveying meaning, desire and a sense of belonging.”
Balancing technology and human connection
Another major theme addressed during the roundtable was the impact of artificial intelligence and technology on luxury experiences. While AI-powered personalisation, operational optimisation and predictive services are expected to transform the industry, participants emphasised the importance of preserving emotional intelligence, empathy and human interaction as central pillars of hospitality.
Stephen Alden stated: “Artificial intelligence will profoundly transform many operational aspects of the industry, from service personalisation to the efficiency of experiences. However, the true value of luxury will continue to be human: emotional connection, the
memory of how an experience made you feel, and the ability to inspire and create wonder will remain central elements in building loyalty and desirability. More than ever, luxury must be capable of creating hyper-personalised experiences that reflect people’s identities and generate longlasting relationships over time.”
Rethinking talent, leadership and hospitality culture
The discussion also focused on the future of work and leadership in luxury hospitality. As younger generations develop new expectations around flexibility, purpose, inclusivity and professional fulfilment, institutions and employers alike are being challenged to rethink how talent is educated, managed and retained.
Serena Dognini concluded: “Younger generations are looking for purpose, personal growth, flexibility and authentic experiences in the workplace. In luxury hospitality, it therefore becomes essential to value people, listen to them, and make them feel like active protagonists of their professional journey, creating environments based on authenticity, wellbeing, inclusivity and team spirit. Today’s young talents are not only looking for a prestigious brand, but for organisations capable of offering continuous training, genuine attention to people, and a corporate culture aligned with their values.”
Anticipating the future of luxury hospitality
Beyond consumer behaviour, speakers agreed that Gen Alpha is already emerging as a transformative cultural force capable of influencing luxury long before becoming a fully active consumer generation. The May discussion highlighted the importance for brands and institutions to anticipate these shifts today rather than simply reacting to them tomorrow.
By hosting this discussion in Milan –one of Europe’s leading capitals for luxury, fashion and lifestyle innovation – Glion reinforced its positioning at the intersection of hospitality, luxury business education and forward-thinking industry dialogue.
As the boundaries between hospitality, luxury, technology, wellness and culture continue to blur, Glion aims to continue fostering conversations that help shape not only the next generation of professionals, but also the future direction of the luxury and hospitality industries themselves.

Nobu Residences At Ogami ON EGYPT’S NORTH COAST
SODIC has celebrated the opening of Nobu New Cairo at Eastown District New Cairo (EDNC), bringing the globally renowned hospitality and dining brand to Egypt’s capital for the first time. The opening marks a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Nobu and SODIC, a collaboration that contributes to the new chapter in luxury hospitality and lifestyle experiences being shaped across Egypt.
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa travelled to Cairo to mark the occasion, hosting an exclusive preview event that welcomed leading figures from Egypt’s hospitality, business, cultural, and lifestyle communities for a first look at the restaurant ahead of its public debut.
Throughout the evening, guests experienced the elements that have defined Nobu for more than three decades: Japanese cuisine with Peruvian influence, thoughtful design, and the spirit of kokoro - the Japanese philosophy of acting from the heart that guides
every Nobu experience. Signature dishes including Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Jalapeño, and Nobu’s acclaimed sushi selection were served in an environment that reflects both the brand’s global identity and the culture of the city it now calls home.
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa commented: “It has been wonderful to spend time in Egypt and experience the warmth, culture, and energy that make this country so special. Seeing the vision we have built alongside SODIC continue to take shape is incredibly exciting.
“Every Nobu destination is inspired by its surroundings and community, and we are proud to be growing our presence in Egypt through experiences that bring people together.”
The opening of Nobu New Cairo forms part of a landmark week for the brand in Egypt. Just days earlier, Robert De Niro joined executives from Nobu and SODIC in London to unveil Nobu Residences
at OGAMI, introducing the residential component of the North Coast partnership. Together, these milestones underscore Egypt’s growing importance within Nobu’s global expansion strategy and reinforce the strength of the longterm partnership between the two companies.
During his visit, Chef Nobu also travelled to OGAMI on Egypt’s North Coast to experience first-hand the destination that will soon welcome Nobu restaurant, a Nobu hotel, and branded residences, bringing the full Nobu lifestyle experience to one of the Mediterranean’s most exciting emerging destinations.
Ayman Amer, General Manager of SODIC, said: “The opening of Nobu New Cairo represents an important milestone in our long-term partnership with Nobu and reflects our shared ambition to bring world-class hospitality experiences to Egypt.
“Together, we are creating destinations that seamlessly integrate hospitality, design, wellness, and residential living, setting a new benchmark for lifestyle-led development across the country.”
As the North Coast season approaches, Nobu North Coast at OGAMI prepares to welcome guests for its second season this July. Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) has named Michel Roux, one of the world’s most renowned chefs, as the latest Langham Luminary for The Langham Hotels & Resorts’ (The Langham’s) global campaign, “Your Story. Our Legacy”. The latest chapter sees Roux reflect on his family’s enduring connection to The Langham as he leads a personal culinary exploration through London, the city that has defined much of his career and continues to nurture his craft.
“Michel Roux’s passion for food, dedication to culinary craft and longstanding relationship with The Langham make him a natural addition to our Langham Luminaries lineup,” LHG Chief Executive Officer Bob van den Oord said. “His story is one of curiosity, discovery and a deep appreciation for people and place – qualities that align closely with the values of our flagship brand.”
Born into a legendary culinary family, Roux has dedicated his life to gastronomy. For over three decades, he led his family’s acclaimed restaurant, Le Gavroche, upholding its legacy as the first restaurant in the UK to achieve the triple distinction of one, two, and three Michelin stars. He is also a familiar face to audiences worldwide, fronting much-loved television programmes including Kitchen Impossible, Michel Roux’s French Country Cooking and Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef. Roux has brought that same exacting standard, warmth and personality to The Langham, London, where his decadelong consultancy has been instrumental in shaping the hotel’s culinary identity, from restaurant concepts and in-room dining to its signature Afternoon Tea.
Roux continually strives to deliver a dining experience that is refined and elegant yet approachable, marrying classical French technique with exceptional British ingredients.
Michel Roux
commented:
“Comfort food for me is something that’s been lovingly cooked. And it doesn’t have to be fanciful. That’s what I want to transmit in my food, especially at The Wigmore.”
London’s exceptional food scene remains a constant source of inspiration for Roux, particularly in his South London neighbourhood, where he is drawn to its character, green spaces and sense of ease. In his campaign film, he brings viewers along to some of his favourite local addresses, such as Trinity, the Michelinstarred restaurant just a short stroll from his home, bijou bakery Miel and cheese specialist La Fromagerie.
Launched in January 2025, the “Your Story. Our Legacy.” brand campaign spotlights leading figures from culture, design, and gastronomy whose personal journeys reflect the multifaceted spirit of The Langham – a brand shaped over 160 years by creativity and meaningful connection. Known collectively as Langham Luminaries, the distinguished global roster now includes Roux alongside celebrated musical theatre star Ayanga, Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell, and entertainment icon Dannii Minogue, among others.
