Dr. John K. Coleman, a native of Boley, Oklahoma, came to Langston University as a freshman in 1961. He graduated in 1965, and after earning his PhD from the University of Oklahoma in 1976 and completing post doctoral studies in 1978, Dr. Coleman bounced between universities until Dr. Ernest Holloway called him in 1993 asking him to return to Langston University as a professor.
Since then, Dr. Coleman has pushed for academic excellence from all of his students. After over 30 years of dedication to Langston University, he will finally be retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 academic school year. Learn more about his life and legacy inside.
