Notes from the Editor
Elegance is the word...
If you are planning a wedding in 2026 or beyond, there is one word to keep in mind: elegance.
Should a bride be frightened off by that one simple word, rest assured that “elegance” can mean many things and it doesn’t require a huge budget. It can be touches of beauty in wedding florals, perhaps with velvety ribbons; a gown with an extra-long train; dramatic makeup; or for those who want to go all out, a venue with sweeping views, chandeliers or other special styles.
In this issue, we dive deep into elegance with a photo shoot in a very special place: the Tilton Mansion in Tilton, N.H. Historically, the mansion was built and became the residence of Charles Tilton, a local man who went west and made his fortune. Upon returing to New Hampshire, he built the mansion. It stands today with recent upgrades.
We were kindly given access for a day of wedding style photography with some top wedding professionals and a beautiful, elegant model.
The results of that day are shown in this issue starting on page 31.
Throughout the 2026 issue of Lakes Region Bride, there are wedding planning tips and ideas galore as well as the area’s wedding professionals whose services are listed within.
We wish you a wonderful wedding, be it large or small, casual or formal.
Let elegance lead the way.

Explains Valerie of Forever Awaits by Valerie, who created the event, “This styled shoot explored how lighting and greenery can transform a wedding space without relying on traditional florals. To reinforce the concept, the ceremony and reception were designed primarily with greenery. I created all the garland installations, a major visual element throughout the shoot, while the florist contributed a plant-based bouquet and boutonniere to complement the greenery-forward aesthetic.
“The ceremony aisle was lined with lights leading to a greenerydraped altar, and we captured it in both daylight and nighttime to show how lighting can create two drastically different, but equally

“Every detail was intentionally designed to show how lighting and greenery alone can create a magical wedding environment.”

Tablescapes featured layered textures, white chiffon accents, white taper candles in gold holders and greenery runners. A cozy studio-inspired lounge with rentals from Vintage Love Event Rentals completed the look, emphasizing warmth, intimacy and style. Every detail was intentionally designed to show how lighting and greenery alone can create a magical wedding environment.
Says Valerie, “It was a joy to collaborate with an incredible team of local vendors who helped bring this vision to life.”

A floral centerpiece brings a splash of summer beauty to the table.

Navy floor length cloth in Rattan fabric with velvet napkins in Merlot and Sunshine echo the colors of autumn. Walnut crossback chairs with burgundy cushion covers, rattan chargers topped with gold rimmed dinner and salad plates, accented with gold hammered flatware, indigo water goblets, wine glasses and gold rimmed flutes are perfection. Brass candlestick holders with golden beeswax candles and burgundy pillar containers with gold beeswax pillar candles create a warm glow. Seasonal floral hues are upscale and elegant.

Winter in all its quiet beauty is created with a floor length cloth in Iridescent Crush with an ice blue overlay in matte, white chairs, modern china dinner and salad plates with stainless flatware in New Rim, cut glass cocktail/water glasses, and clear crystal beads sprinkled throughout. Silver taper candles shine in glass holders. A centerpiece of white florals speaks of winter elegance.

Yoga and celebrations go together. If those celebrations take place in a special location, things are sure to be wonderful.
One such place is the renovated Tetley-Sakansky Mill at 151 Elm Street in Lakeport. Built in 1890 for the Tetley Box Company, it was a major industry in Laconia. Founded by Englishman John Tetley, the mill was a thriving business.
Says Amy Jones, co-owner of 151 Studio in the mill building, “For the past 10 years, we’ve proudly called this beautiful, light-filled studio home. The building is home to a vibrant fitness community in the Lakes Region through a wide variety of movement offerings.
“Over time, we recognized a growing need for an affordable yet elevated event space for bridal showers, baby showers, bachelorette celebrations, and intimate gatherings.”
Located along the Winnipesaukee River, the studio features original warm hardwood floors, soft cream walls, and abundant natural sunlight pouring through large windows. The airy, neutral aesthetic creates a timeless backdrop that can be styled effortlessly to reflect any celebration—romantic, modern, or minimal.
The unique space offers bachelorette (and other) parties that can feature yoga as part of the event; or simply plan and host a celebration in the space for a party done your way. www.studio151fitness.com
Beloved pets can part of a wedding. Some couples want their family dog in the wedding photos and some want to include their pet in the wedding ceremony.
Including your dog in the wedding takes some pre-planning, and the Four Paws Inn, with locations in Meredith and Albany, NH, can help.
Says Four Paw Inn owner Cristy Martel, “Having your dog in the wedding photos is a great memory. Some of our clients have their dog be in the ceremony with flowers (or the rings) or at the reception for a short time.”
Including a pet at the wedding requires someone to watch over the dog during the celebration. Continues Cristy, “Four Paws can provide all the help a couple can need. Your pup will be well-cared for, and you can focus on family, friends and the day. The dog can join the fun with the right help from us.
“We have over 30 staff, two locations, a dog bus, and two groomers. And we offer all day cage free daycare, boarding, grooming and transportation to and from weddings.”
A Four Paws staff person will stay with the dog the entire time and keep the pup clean and not jumping. Staff will provide water and towels to keep the pup picture-perfect for the big day.
Cristy’s advice for couples who want to have their pet at the wedding, “Hire someone to help! Having the dog in the pictures is a great memory.” www.thefourpawsinn.com

Wedding planning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the right support, you can enjoy every step and make the journey as memorable as the day itself.
Getting engaged is one of those moments many people dream about long before it happens. You may have imagined your future wedding/marriage for years, pinned inspiration to a wedding Pinterest board, or thought about what your day might look like. And then it happens. You’re engaged. Cue the excitement and the happy tears, because yes, you absolutely should be excited.
But not long after the celebrations begin, that excitement can quickly turn into an overwhelming feeling. As soon as you start sharing the news, the questions begin. Friends and family ask what will be the date of your wedding? Where will it be? While well-intentioned, those questions can leave you unsure of where to start planning the wedding.
If this seems familiar, know that feeling overwhelmed at the start of wedding planning is completely normal.
Before diving into details like tablescapes, color palettes, or décor, pause and look at the bigger picture. Sit down together and talk about what truly matters to you as a couple. Is it amazing food? A packed dance floor? A beautiful setting? An intimate experience with your closest people?
These conversations establish your priorities and guide decisions throughout the planning process. When you’re clear on your priorities, a planner can help translate them into actionable steps, making sure your vision comes to life without unnecessary stress.
Once aligned, you can begin narrowing in on guest count, overall vibe, season, and location. Not every decision needs to be made at once; wedding planning works best when taken step by step.
One of the biggest stressors couples face is planning without structure. Establishing a realistic budget and timeline early isn’t about limiting your dreams but rather about giving them direction.
A planner can help you set a budget that reflects your priorities and create a timeline that keeps everything on track. They manage the details, so you can focus on enjoying the engagement instead of getting lost in logistics. Social media inspiration is great, but a planner helps make ideas achievable in reality, keeping your day uniquely yours.
Many couples hire a wedding planner because they don’t want to feel overwhelmed during what should be one of the most exciting seasons of their lives. A planner allows you to truly enjoy

your engagement, stay present on your wedding day, and soak in every meaningful moment instead of worrying about logistics.
Planning a wedding takes time: researching vendors, scheduling calls, reviewing contracts, making countless detailed decisions, and weaving it all into one cohesive vision. A planner takes on those tasks, keeping everything organized and intentional so you don’t have to carry the weight alone.
Things will inevitably come up. Timelines shift, weather changes, logistics evolve. A planner problem-solves behind the scenes so you can stay focused on celebrating. With a planner’s support, your wedding can feel seamless, joyful, and exactly the way you imagined it would be.
“Instead
Wedding planning is about celebrating your relationship and the life you’re building together. It shouldn’t feel like a second full-time job or a source of constant stress. Things will arise and it is all part of the planning process.
Instead of chasing perfection, focus on the experience. This includes the laughter, the little moments, and the memories you’re creating with your partner and loved ones. Asking for help, whether from a planner, vendors, or supportive friends and family, isn’t a weakness. It’s a way to protect your time, energy, and joy.

By starting with a clear vision, creating a realistic framework, and focusing on what truly matters to you as a couple, wedding planning can feel intentional, exciting and manageable. A wedding planner can guide you through every step, keeping timelines on track, managing details, and handling surprises so you can enjoy the process fully.
With thoughtful planning and the right support, you can create a wedding day that reflects your dreams and the memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime. Focus on the experience, not perfection, and celebrate every step along the way.

The incredible lush greenery and secret paths and florals at Tarbin Gardens make it the perfect place for an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception. The bride knows the gardens well, as she grew up at the location; her father, Richard, and grandmother, Jacky, tend the gardens lovingly. On the wedding day, guests mingled as they waited for the ceremony which was held in a special garden spot. Following the ceremony, the celebration took place at a tented location on the property.

Reception Menu Mains (All Pizza): Cassette Pizza (Cheese), Vinyl Pizza (Pepperoni), The Solid-State Pizza (Pineapple, Cherry & Hot Honey), Custom Request Caprese Pizza – Bride’s Choice (Tomatoes, Ricotta, Basil, Balsamic), Custom Request Pepperoni, Mushroom Ricotta Pizza – Groom’s Choice
Reception Menu Sides: Caprese Salad, Salami and Vegetarian Antipasto, Garlic Knots
Says bride Lindsey, “Pizza is our favorite food! James worked at Sal’s Pizza in Concord when I met him. He made me heart-shaped pizzas for Valentine’s Day while he worked there and since then, we love to try new pizza places.”
Lindsey explains about the beautiful surroundings, “The gardens have age. They’re peaceful and full of life and layers. There are flowers big and small, mushrooms grow, chipmunks scamper by, birds sing and butterflies waft through. The gardens decorate themselves. I felt I was merely complementing and personalizing for my wedding, adding a sign and vase of flowers here and there. The reception tent came with lights and a chandelier; I only decorated the tables.
“I grew up here and have watched every change and improvement happen. I witnessed my Dad’s hobby become a business dreamt up by him and my grandmother to share his beautiful gardens. I started to work in the business (in 2019). I watched couples ask to have their wedding here.
“We didn’t offer weddings but they could envision it, so we made it happen! I decided to dedicate my life to these gardens and the couples who wanted to be wed here.”
Lindsey reflects, “Years into the future, I became one of those couples. Having my wedding here meant everything. It is my family’s pride and joy and I spent the best day of my life here! From a business perspective, it gave me the opportunity to truly test the quality of our business and services.”

Autumn in all its splendor describes the wedding of Nicole and Brian. The day was full of family and friends and celebration. With just under a year to plan the wedding, the couple chose the Newfound Lake area, where they have ties with family living in the region. “We have spent nearly every holiday weekend (and plenty more) in the area, and it is truly our home-away-from-home and a place we cherish,” says Nicole. She continues, “Our color scheme was a warm, autumn palette. Primary tones were rich rust colors, burnt orange, terracotta and copper, with supporting hues of soft blush, dusty rose, muted peach and warm champagne among other colors.”
The ceremony was held on the lawn of the Newfound Lake Inn, Bristol, NH, with the reception in the dining room at the inn.

Bride Jessica says, “We both grew up spending summers on Lake Winnipesaukee, which has always been a special place for us. I spent childhood summers at Pleasant Valley Camp in Wolfeboro, while Charlie grew up visiting his family’s cottage on Winter Harbor. In 2020, I purchased Sweet Pea Cottage in Moultonborough, creating a second home for myself and my family. Although Charlie grew up in Massachusetts, his love for the Lakes Region led him to buy his first home in Tuftonboro in early 2022.” The couple, who married at the Inn on Main in Wolfeboro on August 31, 2025, live out of state, but they return to the Lakes Region in the summer. It is the special place that brought them together. With 80 guests at the wedding, Jessica says, “We wanted to keep all our wedding vendors and our location local to Wolfeboro, a place that means so much to us. From the moment we toured the Inn on Main, we knew it was the one. The second we walked into the barn, it felt warm, inviting and effortlessly beautiful.” continued on page 76

If you are a bride and your mother is a floral designer, your wedding flowers are sure to be beautiful. When Karlyn, whose mother is Susan Brown, owner of Lakes Region Floral Studio, got married to John on Nov. 1, 2025, she knew she did not need to worry about the flowers. But she may not have planned on the pull-out-all-thestops beauty her mother created for this special wedding day. Susan probably thought to herself, “It’s not every day a mom gets to design her daughter’s wedding flowers!”
Held at the Owl’s Nest in Thornton, Karlyn and John welcomed 110 guests to celebrate their big day. Photographer Alexsandra Wiciel captured all aspects of the day, from getting ready to first look, family photos, the glorious outdoor ceremony with a floral covered arbor, to the indoor celebration. For the flowers, Karlyn says, “I gave my mom the very basics of what I wanted, and she worked her magic with everything - including the colors.” continued on page 62

continued from page 58
Says mom/floral designer Susan, “Karlyn wasn’t too picky about the flowers. I came up with some ideas based on what I knew she would like or not like...to be honest she told me to do whatever I thought would look nice. She’s not a pastel kind of person and prefers rusts, blues and deep reds. I tell my other brides...everything doesn’t have to ‘match, match’ - it just has to be a part of the same story, so I made sure the colors would go with the maid’s dresses instead of trying to match a blue color to them. She did have two specific requests: floral hoops for the bridesmaids and smilax (the vining greenery) on the venue’s beams. Some flowers I used included toffee roses, Moab roses, chocolate cosmos, white scabiosa, chocolate lace, panda anemones, sweet peas, cymbidium orchids, chocolate ranunculus, copper beach - the red leaves), red peonies for the bride and the mother of the bride, rosanne terracotta lisianthus, butterfly ranunculus, and kibo clematis, plus a few other textured blooms.”
Karlyn’s gorgeous gown was a show stopper and was from A Day to Remember Bridal Boutique in Concord. (The gown is Alanis Love by Enzoani.”) continued on page 75

The thoughtfully designed details, rustic elegance, and cozy atmosphere made it feel both special and comfortable. Says Jessica, “The staff and manager, Lyla, at the Inn on Main were wonderful to work with, organized, responsive, and genuinely kind, which made the entire planning process easy and stress-free from start to finish. They had just recently renovated the outdoor area, adding a stunning tent and an outdoor bar, which created a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.”
Jessica continues, “I could instantly picture our summer wedding there. We also had a Welcome Party the day before the wedding, generously hosted by Charlie’s mom, Gina, under the beautiful tent. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend and spend time with our guests in a charming, welcoming setting.
“Having the Inn on Main for the entire weekend made everything feel intimate and connected.
