Meet the Judges

Ken Badger

Ken Badger is a proud graduate of the barber program at Lakeland College where he earned recognition on the Dean’s Honour Roll. Since completing his training, Ken has built a strong presence in the barbering industry as a professional barber, men’s program facilitator, motivational speaker, and Master Certified Life Coach. He provides barbering services at community events and leads men’s and youth development programs throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan, combining technical skill with mentorship and leadership.

Trysta Badger

Trysta Badger is a certified personal trainer, hairstylist, makeup educator, and program facilitator with a strong focus on confidencebuilding and professional development. She specializes in bridal styling and updos, delivering polished, structured work rooted in both creativity and longevity. Through her programming and workshops, she empowers youth and adults to build selfesteem, discipline, and practical life skills that extend beyond the beauty industry. Together, Ken and Trysta bring real-world industry experience, mentorship, and a commitment to excellence. They are honoured to return to support and judge the next generation of emerging talent at the Border Beauty Showcase.

Jennie Coulson

With over 18 years of experience behind the chair, Jennie Coulson has built her career on skill, creativity and genuine relationships with her clients.

Working from her home-based studio allows her to provide a personalized, comfortable experience where attention to detail and quality come first.

She’s passionate about helping people feel confident in their hair while keeping things simple, natural and authentic.

Amy Johnson

With an impressive career spanning over 16 years, Amy Johnson has traversed various roles within the professional beauty industry, showcasing her versatility and expertise. From being a hairstylist and makeup artist to taking on the mantle of brand manager and platform artist, Amy’s journey has been marked by continuous growth and exploration.

Currently stationed as a salon business consultant and educator in western Canada, Amy’s impact extends beyond borders. Her extensive travels across North America, attending conferences and providing education, reflect her dedication to connecting and growing alongside fellow beauty industry professionals. Amy Johnson’s dynamic career trajectory is a testament to her unwavering passion and commitment to the ever-evolving world of beauty.

Elizabeth Muzichuk

Elizabeth Muzichuk is a seasoned, award-winning hairstylist with 23 years of experience in the industry. Trained behind the chair, rather than through traditional schooling, she has mastered her craft with hands-on expertise. Known for her artistry and personalized care, she’s built a loyal following and has been honoured with awards and opportunities over her career.

Amber Rempel is the owner of Elle Joie Day Spa in St. Walburg, Sask. She is a wife, entrepreneur and serial manifester. Amber has been a RMT for 17 years and a Certified Aesthetician for 15 years. Amber has taken numerous courses to advance her practice and techniques which brings big city vibes to rural Saskatchewan.

Brooklyn Steward

With over 12 years of experience in the hairstyling industry, Brooklyn brings a wealth of knowledge, precision, and passion to her role as a judge. Having transitioned from working behind the chair to focusing on education and mentorship, she has a keen eye for technique, creativity, and execution. As a dedicated mom of two, she understands the balance of dedication and discipline needed to succeed in the industry. Brooklyn is committed to recognizing and celebrating excellence in hairstyling, ensuring that talent and skill are acknowledged at the highest level.

Karissa Squire

Karissa Squire’s story is one of ambition, talent, and a relentless pursuit of her dreams in the beauty industry. Straight out of high school, this small-town girl set her sights high and embarked on a transformative journey that would take her from the heartland to the global stage.

Karissa’s odyssey began with a move to Vancouver, where she enrolled in the renowned Blanche Macdonald Global Makeup Program, launching a career that would see her become a makeup artist celebrated internationally.

In the whirlwind that followed, Karissa found herself at the epicenter of glamour, participating in makeup shoots in iconic cities such as Paris, London, Cannes, and New York. Her artistic touch graced the faces of some of the most beautiful and gracious NHL wives, creating gala looks that reflected both inner and outer beauty.

Karissa is also known for her almost decadelong expertise in Halloween makeup. From transforming Connor McDavid, Jack Campbell, Cam Talbot, Codi Ceci, Tyson Barrie, and many more with imaginative and awe-inspiring looks.

Daphne Voth-Hoggan

In 2004, Daphne became an educator for OPI, expanding into professional brand education and mentorship. In 2016, she joined International Beauty Services and discovered Bodyography, a clean, skincareinfused makeup line that aligned with her belief that professional performance and ingredient integrity should coexist.

Today, Daphne serves as brand manager and educator for Bodyography Canada. She works directly with salons, medi clinics, retail boutiques, and beauty professionals across Canada, providing advanced product education, retail strategy training, and service integration support.

Daphne has worked backstage and alongside leading professional brands including Kevin.Murphy, Eleven Australia, and more, supporting major Canadian education tours runway events and fashion shows across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

In addition to salon education, she works closely with beauty schools, mentoring future artists in makeup application, complexion mastery, clean beauty principles, and retail confidence, while helping artists build profitable, modern beauty careers.

DJ Regan Thompson

Prairie Panda is a Canadian DJ known for his highenergy mixes and unique blend of electronic music with a taste of all genres. Hailing from the Canadian prairies, leaving an unforgettable experience on the dance floor.
