ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM

BELIEVE. ACHIEVE.

Supporting access to postsecondary education by providing opportunity to students who experience socio-economic barriers. OUR SINCERE GRATITUDE

Thank you Lakehead donors for your generous support as the Achievement Program continue to expand its reach, build programming, and encourage students along their journeys to post-secondary education.

“The Achievement Program helped me in so many ways and gave me the opportunity to meet many great people. I learned financial and life skills in the program. I enjoyed every part of it!"

Donors' funds are the backbone of the Program’s staffing and programming, making every aspect possible. It’s been another successful year of working to remove barriers for students. In 2023– 2024, Lakehead University’s Achievement Program delivered impactful programming to 380 active participants from 40 different schools in and around Thunder Bay—an increase of 25% from last year.

This year's highlights include a significant milestone: the recruitment of three part-time staff mentors who are also Achievement Program alumni. It is a remarkable turning point to have former students who have benefited from the Program to now contribute to their delivery. Lakehead held the second annual Indigenous Cultural Celebration, summer camp, student speaker series, high school conference, and our 6th annual Career & Undergraduate Exploration Day. A new initiative was launched called “After School With the Thunderwolves,” which focuses on reaching participants in grade 9 and above. Because of your vital support, students feel encouraged to Dream. Believe. Achieve.

“The Days on Campus really inspired me to come here, even though I had lots of educational and family setbacks that made it really hard. But the Achievement Program was here to support me in any way that I needed.”
