Thursday 24th December 2020
On arrival, take a seat in the Orangery and enjoy the relaxing sounds from our pianist Karen West, where you will be served an array of delicious cakes, delicately prepared finger sandwiches, plus more at our cocktail afternoon tea.
In the evening, join our General Manager and his team in the Orangery for a sparkling wine and canapés reception before proceeding to the 2 AA Rosette Lake View restaurant for a sumptuous four course welcome dinner with a delicious dessert buffet.
Later, experience the beauty of the lake and mountain scenery at night on a candlelit stroll down to the Victorian gazebo. By the lakeshore we will enjoy a mulled wine or hot toddy, roasted chestnuts and marshmallows.
Christmas Day
Friday 25th December 2020
Start Christmas Day with a traditional Cumbrian breakfast and a glass of Bucks Fizz. Afterwards, take part in our candy cane treasure hunt around the gardens - it’s the perfect way to build up an appetite for our Head Chef’s fabulous six course Christmas Day lunch.
The afternoon is for relaxation, so settle down for the Queen’s speech at 3pm where you can help yourself to our indulgent hot chocolate station. Expect the full works - milk and white chocolate, Nutella, whipped cream, mini marshmallows and more. Father Christmas will be making an appearance, along with Robin the Cartoonist, who will provide you with a unique memento of your stay with us.
In the evening, enjoy a Christmas Gala buffet, where you will sample some traditional local delicacies, followed by a light-hearted quiz, our Christmas cake competition and a fun, mince pie blind tasting, with prizes to be won.
Saturday 26th December 2020
Breakfast on Boxing Day would not be the same without a glass of the renowned Inn on the Lake hot punch. After breakfast we have arranged a guided walk from the hotel to a special location where you will see the Lake District at its most spectacular. On your return, soup, sandwiches and sweet treats await in front of the roaring lounge fire.
In the afternoon (weather permitting) gather the family for a ride on an Ullswater Steamer, admire the beautiful scenery, as you gently cruise along the lake, with a glass of hot mulled wine, mince pie and a slice of Christmas cake.
Later on, dress to impress for a photo in front of the Christmas tree, followed by a splendid six course black-tie dinner.
27th December
Following breakfast, for those of our guests who leave us today, we bid you a fond farewell and hope you have had a fantastic Christmas with us. If you wish to extend your break for a few more days, please call our reservations department on 0800 840 1245.
Afterwards, join us at the James Bond themed casino tables where the first dry Martini –shaken, not stirred – is on us. Have a flutter with fun money for a chance to win a magnum of champagne. If you feel like dancing, enjoy live entertainment from Destiny Duo,

In the evening, join our General Manager and his team for a sparkling wine and canapés reception before proceeding to the 2 AA Rosette Lake View restaurant for a four course dinner with a delicious dessert buffet.
Afterwards, join us on a candlelit walk to the Victorian gazebo by the lake for a hot toddy, toasted chestnuts and marshmallows. With only the light from our lanterns and the moonlight bouncing off the lake and surrounding mountains, you’ll feel as if you are in a Winter Wonderland.
Thursday 31st December 2020
See in the New Year in style, with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast and a glass of Bucks Fizz. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely morning with a stroll to the spectacular Aira Force waterfall, or join our fun treasure hunt around the hotel grounds, followed by soup, sandwiches and delicious sweet treats in front of the roaring fire.
In the afternoon, gather the family for a ride on an Ullswater Steamer around the lake (weather permitting). Admire the beautiful scenery, with a glass of hot mulled wine, a mince pie and slice of Christmas cake.
Later, dress to impress for a photo in front of the Christmas tree, which is then yours to take home as a memento of your stay. Tonight’s six course black-tie dinner has been prepared by our Head Chef and his team throughout the day, so you can look forward to a unique dining experience with live entertainment from Destiny Duo.
Raise your glass for a Champagne toast and night time snack on the stroke of midnight with our traditional piper, then carry on dancing until 1am.
Friday 1st January 2021
There is no need to hurry down to breakfast if you have had a late night, because today we are serving a jazz brunch from 10am to 2pm. Start with a Bucks Fizz and then make your way to the fabulous hot and cold buffet. Relax and recover from last night’s festivities whilst listening to our jazz band, with sounds from New Orleans and Mississippi.
If you feel fresh air is on the agenda, then why not join our guide, who will take you on a nottoo strenuous New Year’s Day walk to a local beauty spot? In the afternoon, help yourself to our indulgent hot chocolate station, where you can expect the full works - milk and white chocolate, Nutella, whipped cream, mini marshmallows and more.
Make time to pose for a fun illustration from Robin the Cartoonist before your sparkling four course farewell dinner. Later, join us for a bit of light-hearted fun in the lounges where your knowledge of all things trivial will be tested to the full with our special New Year’s quiz – with prizes to be won. Then put your taste buds to the test in our fun mince pie blind tasting.
