Nafplion Nafplia Palace Depart Athens and head to the Corinth Canal that separates the Greek mainland from the Peloponnese. The historic canal was many years in the making having been first proposed in the 7th century BCE and then attempted in 67 AD by Nero. Ultimately, the final construction was completed in 1893. Tour the Peloponnese and visit the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, known for its acoustics and aesthetics. Check into your luxury sea view bungalow in Nafplion. Venture out to Olympia to explore the birthplace of the Olympic Games and home of the Greek mythology gods and step inside its archaeological museum. Monemvasia Hotel Kinsterna Drive to the fortified town of Mystras, an UNESCO World Heritage Site near ancient Sparta.
