Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the examination season, I want to take this opportunity to share some practical information about these important assessments. It is important that over the Easter holiday, your daughters get a good rest and take a break. Those in 3rds-U4 should not spend time revising. There will be time next term, in lessons and in homework time for them to prepare adequately for their exams. Those in L5th may choose to spend a bit of time over the holiday consolidating their knowledge in some areas. However, they too need a good rest after a busy term. L6 pupils might choose to do a little more and are likely to be set work by their teachers. As ever, we would encourage all of the pupils to engage in some reading for pleasure over the holiday too.
Parents will find a lot of important information about the examinations, here: Lady Eleanor Holles. There are materials designed to help you support your daughters in the preparation for their examinations and in managing their reactions to the outcomes. There are useful guides for pupils on how to revise and how to focus. This includes the guides commissioned from Professor Carl Hendrick (a former teacher in a leading independent school and educational researcher and author) who produced four short films on how children learn and how a parent can support their child with their learning. These cover how the brain works, meaningful learning, effective study techniques and activities which support learning. The password to access these films is: CarlxLEH2024
L5 and L6 pupils will receive their summer examination timetables next week When finalized at the start of next term, exam timetables for 3rds-U4 will also be shared with pupils and available via the same link above for parents. Departments will publish the content for the examinations to pupils by Wednesday 29th April.
On the next page you will find further details relevant to specific year groups. As was the case last year, changes in government guidance on attendance means some of the arrangements are different to previous years, so do look at them carefully.

• By Wednesday 29th April all examination content published on the school’s intranet for pupils
• From Monday 11th May homework focused on revision
• From Monday 18th May no new content will be covered in lessons, all lessons will focus on revision
• In exam week (1st – 5th June): There are no extra-curricular clubs/individual music/drama lessons during this week and no late coaches during this week
• On Friday 5th June: U4 examinations will finish at 4pm. 3rds and L4 will finish at lunchtime. Those 3rds and L4 involved in the Middle School Production will then have rehearsals in the afternoon. The rest of Middle School will have a PE session.
L5
L6
• By Wednesday 29th April all examination content will be published on the school’s intranet for pupils
• From Wednesday 6th May homework focused on revision
• From Monday 11th May no new content will be covered in lessons, all lessons will focus on revision
• L5 need to be in school on 18th/19th May but will be in supervised study sessions during the day, so they may organise their revision to suit their personal needs
• Exams take place from the 20th-22nd May and then 1st-5th June
• Students are expected to attend school from 8.45-4pm during the exam period. Study spaces will be provided in school for them to be able to revise between exams
• There are no extra-curricular clubs/individual music/drama lessons during their examination period
• There are no late coaches from 1st-5th June
• By Wednesday 29th April all examination content will be published on the school’s intranet for pupils
• From Wednesday 6th May homework should be focused on revision
• From Monday 11th May no new content will be covered in lessons, all lessons will focus on revision
• Study leave starts on 19th May. L6 only need to come into school for their examinations.
Results
The results will be published on My School Portal on 19th June.
• For L5 and L6, there will be the exam percentage and a GCSE/A level Grade.
• For 3rds to U4 there will be the exam percentage and the median (middle mark for all pupils sitting that paper).
• Teachers will give feedback to pupils on the examinations in the week beginning 8th June.
• There will also be comments in the reports published for 3rds, L4 and L5 at the very end of the summer term about how pupils can develop in their learning.
