At LEH, we believe that when pupils feel happy, confident, and valued, they thrive, not just academically, but in every area of life. That’s why wellbeing isn’t an afterthought here, it’s embedded in everything we do. Our pastoral care programme is built around four key pillars: developing a healthy sense of self; providing practical tools for emotional resilience; promoting kindness and self-compassion; and encouraging every pupil to become the best version of herself. Once a year, the entire school pauses lessons for Wellbeing Day, a celebration of balance, reflection and self-care. It’s a space to recharge, to try something new, and to build habits that support lifelong wellbeing.

LEH LIFE ADVICE: SKILLS FOR NOW AND THE FUTURE Our LEH Life Advice programme forms the backbone of our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education. It equips pupils with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to navigate life both through school and beyond. From managing relationships, digital safety and appropriate use of AI, to understanding identity, wellbeing and global citizenship, it helps our girls grow into thoughtful, resilient and compassionate young adults.

ALWAYS SOMEONE TO TURN TO Every pupil is known, supported and encouraged. Each has a Form Tutor who acts as their daily mentor, helping them flourish both academically and emotionally. Heads of Year and senior pastoral staff are always available for chats, along with a full-time, self-referral counselling service, two friendly, accessible school nurses and a team of trained Sixth Form Peer Mentors for drop-in chats and advice. Lunchtime sessions and initiatives led by older pupils, promote a culture of empathy and openness. Our school dog, Gus, comes to LEH every week and walks with our pupils.

FRIENDSHIPS THAT LAST A LIFETIME LEH is a school full of opportunities, challenges and friendships. Our close-knit year groups and thriving House system help pupils build strong connections - not just within their year, but across the school and on the school coaches. These friendships become lasting support networks, stretching well beyond their school days into the world of university, work, and life beyond.

CHAMPIONING DIGITAL SAFETY We take online wellbeing seriously. Our Digital Safety Coordinator oversees a robust digital mentorship programme where trained Sixth Form Digital Leaders and Form Group Reps help younger pupils navigate the digital world confidently and responsibly. From social media to screen time the use of AI, our pupils are equipped to make wise, informed choices online.

PARTNERSHIP WITH PARENTS We want parents to feel confident, informed and supported, in addition to regular parent-teacher meetings. Parents can reach out at any time to the Head, Deputy Head (Pastoral), or Heads of Year via the My Parent Portal. The Head runs regular face-to-face and online Forums to share updates and progress against our strategic objectives, and to answer any questions that parents have. We also carry out frequent parent and pupil surveys. LEH provides all parents with access to The Wellbeing Hub, an expert-led, evidence-based resource for meeting the social, emotional, and educational needs of children and young people and their families. The Hub provides weekly pod casts, webinars on current topics affecting youth mental health and parenting along with access to over 2,000 expert-led, evidence-based resources on issues like nutrition, sleep, exam stress, social media, sibling dynamics, and so much more - helping parents navigate the teenage years with confidence.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AT LEH BY A THIRDS (YEAR 7) PUPIL My day at LEH begins with a coach journey to school – the perfect time to catch up with friends and chat about life. We arrive with time to spare before the 8:45am registration, and I usually relax in the Form Room while getting my things ready for the day. We aren’t allowed to use phones in school, and we have to lock them away in a pouch as soon as we arrive. At first, I wasn’t sure about this, but it actually means we spend more meaningful time with friends before school and during break and lunch. I think that’s why it was really easy to make new friends when I joined LEH. My first lesson is PE. In the winter, we play netball or lacrosse along with other sports like badminton and gymnastics – or we might swim in our amazing pool. It’s honestly enormous, and I still can’t believe we get to use it. Today, though, it’s athletics. That means anything from soaring over hurdles to launching a javelin or flying into the long jump pit – it’s always fun and different and we are lucky to have all the sports facilities in the school grounds. Next up is Spanish. I love learning languages at LEH, they’re exciting and full of variety. I’m studying Spanish and Latin. The lessons are creative and interactive, which really helps me enjoy them. The teachers are always kind and happy to help if you get stuck with anything. We use a mix of digital and paper-based activities in our lessons. Sometimes we use our iPads – I especially like using them for more creative activities like Drama.

After break, it’s time for Chemistry. We always get excited if we walk in and see an experiment kit set up. We do seperate sciences so I also study Biology and Physics, Biology is my current favourite! Then it’s off to Textiles, where we’re currently sewing our own iPad cases. I love how practical and hands-on it is. Lunchtime is one of my favourite parts of the day. We’ve got over an hour to relax, explore the spacious fields or take part in one of the 100+ clubs on offer. You can change clubs every term so there a chance to try lots. In the Dining Hall, there’s loads of choice: hot meals including vegetarian and vegan options, soups, salads, pasta, jacket potatoes – and best of all, the Build-Your-Own Sub sandwich bar! My afternoon lessons are English, Maths and Geography. I don’t really have a least favourite subject – I enjoy them all in different ways. In English, we get to read brilliant books and try lots of different types of creative writing. In Maths, I enjoy it when we use our iPads to answer questions and work through challenges. In Geography, we might head outside to investigate something in the field or stay in the classroom for group activities. At 4pm, the bell rings, but for me, the day’s not quite over. I’m currently rehearsing for the Middle School production of Shrek so am off to final rehearsals. I love it! Some days, I stay for after-school sport, like netball training or matches. It’s great to keep active and spend more time with friends. And I don’t need to worry about getting home - the 6pm late coach takes care of that!

LIFE AT LEH SENIOR SCHOOL Life in the Senior School at LEH is about more than lessons, it’s about discovering who you are, what you love, and how you want to make your mark. A BOLD BEGINNING From the start, pupils dive into a rich and varied curriculum designed to spark ideas, stretch thinking, and unlock potential. THE GCSE YEARS When it’s time to choose GCSEs, your daughter can build a study programme that reflects her strengths, interests, and ambitions. Most pupils study ten subjects, including English and Mathematics, at least one modern language, a humanities subject and sciences – either combined or separate. She’ll be supported to make informed choices and be inspired to follow wherever her curiosity leads.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM SPORT FOR ALL Sport plays a vibrant role in life at LEH. With 16 different sports played across the year and a wide range of inter-school team opportunities, there is something for everyone, whether pupils are looking to stay active, play for enjoyment, or compete at the highest level. We are proud of our long-standing reputation for sporting excellence. Our beautiful grounds and exceptional onsite facilities allow most sports to be played on campus, and our teams regularly compete, and succeed, in local, regional, and national competitions. We are also proud to have several pupils representing their country at National level in gymnastics, swimming, lacrosse, rowing, fencing, karate, and more. We also have a dedicated Talented & Aspiring Athlete Programme, open to any pupil who wants to meet a sporting ambition, offering specialist mentoring, training flexibility, and tailored pastoral support, helping pupils balance academic demands with elite sporting ambitions. SERIOUS ABOUT DRAMA At LEH we’re serious about drama. Whether touring original productions to local primary schools, staging a West End musical with Hampton School, or running a show from behind the scenes, we offer every pupil the chance to perform, create and take part. Recent productions have included an award-winning production of 42nd Street, Shrek, as well as original plays developed through our award-winning Write the Girl initiative. This programme commissions professional playwrights to create new work for large female casts, giving our pupils the rare opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals from page to stage. Pupils can also develop their skills through our Speech and Drama programme, which offers one-to-one tuition in Acting, Prose, and Public Speaking. Many go on to earn top results in external exams – and valuable UCAS points – as they progress through the school. Our Drama department has been awarded Trinity Champion Centre status, in recognition of our outstanding exam results, innovations in teaching and our excellent programme of performance events.

Enrichment extends beyond the stage. We host regular workshops with leading theatre companies such as Splendid and Paper Birds. Along with a lunchtime Drama club we run initiatives such as Monologue Mondays, a chance for budding actors to perform solo pieces, The Company a joint Upper School Drama Society with Hampton School; a hotlycontested House Film Festival and a Theatre in Education Project to educate about the benefits of performing arts throughout society. All of this takes place in and around our purpose-built 240-seat theatre, part of a vibrant Arts Centre that includes a rehearsal suite, studio theatre, green room, seminar room, and the Music and Art departments – a true hub for creativity and performance.

MUSIC WITH PASSION LEH’s Music Department buzzes with energy, from our 21 orchestras, ensembles and jazz bands to our six choirs and rock groups and dazzling concerts. Musicians of all levels thrive here. We run a full programme of ABRSM preparation and through our Friday Live! lunchtime events and informal Concerts open to parents, giving budding performers the opportunity to share their talents with the rest of the school. Our state-of-the-art facilities include practice rooms, a Steinway Concert Grand piano, and a cutting-edge recording studio. From classical masterpieces to musical theatre hits, LEH’s music scene is vibrant and diverse. Individual lessons cover a wide range of instruments – from flute to guitar, percussion to singing – inspiring every student to find their sound.

A PLACE OF POSSIBILITIES Being an LEH pupil is about far more than the brilliant and inspiring education received in the classroom – it’s about embracing every opportunity the school has to offer. And there’s a lot to choose from. As part of our mission to nurture bold, resilient, and engaged young girls, our co-curricular programme of over 100 clubs is wide-ranging, enriching, and invigorating. From Creative Arts, Chess and Food in the News to Sport, Model United Nations, Programming and Fencing, we aim to offer something for everyone. Along with extra-curricular clubs, our House system brings pupils together across year groups, providing opportunities to meet new friends, share talents, explore new interests, and develop key skills. GIVING BACK We empower and encourage our pupils to give back – to each other, to the school community, and to the world beyond. From mentoring younger pupils and volunteering at local schools, to leading the SHINE Saturday programme or hosting Model UN conferences for nearby state schools, our students actively engage with the wider community. Sixth Formers take on a wide range of leadership roles, from House Captains to Charity Committee members, Digital Mentors to Eco-squad representatives – all developing the confidence, compassion and sense of responsibility to make a meaningful difference.

LIFE AFTER SENIOR SCHOOL TRANSITION TO SIXTH FORM The end of Senior School seems a long way off, however as every parent knows, time flies! As our pupils near the end of their LEH Senior School journey, we ensure that the transition to Sixth Form is an easy one. From Lower 5 (Year 10) we run a Life as a Sixth Former day to introduce them to the move towards greater independence, depth of study and increased responsibility. LEH Sixth Formers enjoy their own dedicated Sixth Form Centre offering a vibrant common room with café and Library and study spaces – where they can study, socialise, and develop the self-management skills that will prepare them for life beyond school.
