A Note from our Executive Director
When audiences take their seats for Hadestown: Teen Edition this weekend, they'll see talented young performers bringing a remarkable story to life. What they won't see is the extraordinary journey that brought them here.
In just four weeks, high school students from the School District of La Crosse and surrounding communities have dedicated themselves to learning all of the music, choreography, dialogue, and staging for this production in just over 100 hours, transforming a group of individual students into a true theatrical company. Along the way, they've built confidence, developed leadership skills, forged lasting friendships, and discovered what can happen when creativity and teamwork come together.
This production is also a celebration of the incredible growth of our Altra Star Academy educational programs. Just three years ago, our summer programs served 182 students. This year, we've already welcomed 267 young artists, 83 of which worked on this production, with almost another 100 middle school students starting work on their own production next week, bringing our summer total this year to 365 students. This is a testament to the growing demand for high-quality arts education throughout the Coulee Region. It is inspiring to see so many young people choosing to spend their summer creating, collaborating, and challenging themselves through theatre.
Growth like this doesn't happen by accident. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our Director of Education, Katelyn Klieve, whose leadership and tireless coordination make not only this production, but all of our youth programming, possible. Special thanks also go to director Mary Cate Wesling and the entire production team for sharing their talents, patience, and passion with these students. Their dedication has created an environment where young artists can thrive both on and off the stage while working with theatre professionals.
One of my favorite parts of this production stands behind the actors. Much of the scenery you'll see this weekend was built by students enrolled in our technical theatre classes. These young carpenters, painters, and backstage technicians remind us that theatre is truly a collaborative art, with every role—onstage and behind the scenes—playing an essential part in bringing a story to life.
As proud as we are of what these students have accomplished, our summer isn't over yet. As I mentioned before, our middle school performers will take the stage in The Music Man Jr., continuing a summer filled with creativity, learning, and unforgettable experiences. I hope you'll join us in celebrating them as well during their performances in August.

Director’s Note
Greek mythology is the one of the oldest forms of storytelling that we have. It is also one of the oldest forms of theatre from which the modern world draws reference. It’s fitting that we would produce a show with these themes and motifs in conjunction with the school district of La Crosse. It is so important for us to teach these students about the parts of the world that theatre comes from and how to pass it along efficiently in this modern world.
Thankfully the students are more knowledgeable about this show than me! The moment we announced this show, our students’ excitement poured from every school we have represented onstage. Their passion rolls off of them in waves that translate into an incredible performance for our audiences. Their dedication to their craft is one to be admired. I can’t wait for you to view their hard work over 4 weeks today!
These 4 weeks have been an incredible experience for both staff and students. There has been moments of gut-wrenching laughter and proud tears from counselors and students alike. Theatre is such an important educational tool for children to learn and use, and they have soaked up all of our lessons like the smart sponges they are. I am excited for their education to continue under Katelyn Klieve, who begins teaching theatre at Central High School this fall!
Katelyn is the person who has built this education program, which is in conjunction with a school district and involves students from districts all over the region, into what it looks like today. She nurtures these students from pre-K through high school, the students adore her and she loves them like they are her own children. Her dedication to the arts and educating her students through the world of theatre is one that leaves me in awe. We in the coulee region beyond are lucky to have her, she deserves every word of praise towards this program.
I’d like to dedicate this production to one of my best friends, Katelyn Klieve. To the world we dream about with this program, and the world you are actively creating now.

Who's Who
Anessa Baldridge
(Worker) Anessa is sixteen years old and is going to be a junior this upcoming school year at Central High School. She has been in six other productions brought by LCT where she starred as Brigitta in The Sound of Music, Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie, and Middle Elsa in Frozen Jr. This is Anessa’s first time doing a show that she’s never heard of before, and she is excited to see how much work they can accomplish! Outside of school she likes to hangout with friends, ride horses, and she’s actively involved with show choir. She wants to thank her family and the directors of Hadestown, as they’re the ones who pushed her into this production and are giving her a chance.
Jack Bockenhauer (Worker) I have loved how positive everybody is while I have been here, and I am so glad I am able to participate in events like this. In the past I have done things like, lion in the wizard of oz, and flounder in the little mermaid. I’m going to high school next year, and am excited to see what I get to do after this.
Emberlyn Breeden (Worker) I’m going to be in 9th grade. This is my 3rd musical. I’m so happy to be in theater with friends.
Laken Buchholtz (Persephone) Laken is thrilled to portray Persephone in her senior year production at LCT after having recently been Miss Honey (Matilda), Vera (She Kills Monsters), and Jenny and Abbie (One Christmas Eve at Evergreen Mall). From her years at camp she has learned the importance of being brave and to believing in herself, especially on stage. Enjoy the show!
Roman Chrest (Worker)
Roman is incredibly excited to be onstage for the last time in the Star Academy. Previously, they have been in Legally Blonde (Emmett), Mean Girls (Mr. Duvall), and Once Upon a Mattress (Ensemble). He would like to thank his family for always supporting him. Roman is excited to continue pursuing musical theatre at UW-L! Ivy Clark (Worker) This is Ivy’s 4th production at LCT, and last summer she played Sir Harry in Once Upon a Mattress. She is an upcoming junior at Laurel High School, and enjoys participating in theatre, band, and screenwriting during the year.She would like to thank her friends and family for supporting her throughout her theatre career, and is very excited to do even more LCT productions in the future!

Alicia Clark (Worker) This is Alicia's third year at LCT, previously doing Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Once Upon a Matress. When she is not on stage, you can find her doing art or reading. She also enjoys playing different instruments, such as clarinet and piano.
Joyce Cleveland (Worker) This is Joyce's second show and decided to do it because of her friends. Next year she will attend Central High School and will be enrolled in their Robed Choir and Chamber Orchestra. She wants to thank her mom and dad for making her busy schedule work and getting her to rehearsal and work every night. Joyce would also like to thank her friends, Ari, Lola, Lily, and Ella for encouraging her to do the musical and make new friends throughout the process. This musical has been such a fun musical and one of Joyce's favorite to work on.
Billy Denny-Omdahl
(Worker) Billy is a junior at La Crescent High School and is excited for his first experience with LCT. His favorite past shows, both musicals and plays, include Descendants (Ben), The Addams Family (Ancestor), and The Yellow Wallpaper (John). He would like to thank everyone who has supported him throughout his musical journey and continues to do so.
Hailey Dockendorff (Ensemble) Hailey is so excited to perform with the talented cast of Hadestown Teen Edition. This is her fourth year in the LCT youth summer shows, and it is always the highlight of her summer. She performed in her first musical (The Wizard of Oz) at only 3 years old as a sweet little munchkin. Some of her favorite musicals in which she has performed include Grease: School Version (Patty Simcox), Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical (Patty), Matilda Jr (Matilda) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Ensemble). Bethany Eber (Fate ) Bethany is excited to be a part of her 6th production with LCT and the La Crosse school district with a couple of her favorite shows being Matilda and The Wizard of Oz. She would like to thank her family and friends for always showing up and supporting her in whatever she is doing. This is Emma's first high school musical and she is so grateful to be apart of it! She has been in three other musicals; her last musical was The Wizard of Oz as Toto. She goes to Logan Middle School and is going into 8th grade. She would like to thank everyone in this musical, as this production was a very supportive environment for her first high school musical. She hopes to be able to be in many more musicals to come.

(Fate) Jaycie is excited to be back on the LCT stage this summer as Fate 3. Charlotte Rasmussen (Worker) Charlotte is beyond excited to perform in such a unique production! Her previous musical performances include Bye Bye Birdie 2024 (ensemble), Beauty and the Beast 2025 (Silly Girl), Camp Rock 2025 (Ensemble and Georgia Farlow), and The Wizard of Oz 2026 (The Wicked Witch). Anna Reinemer (Worker) This is Anna's 5th show, and 2nd LCT summer production. She loves Greek mythology and is excited to be a part of this musical. Her previous shows have included Bye Bye Birdie (Ensemble), Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Kid #2), Beauty and the Beast (Narrator), and The Lightning Thief (Bus Passenger #2). In her free time, Anna likes to read, write, design buildings, play chess, and practice violin, and will be a sophomore at Logan High School.

Apart from theatre Emmie is a dancer at LaCrosse Dance Centre and participates in the annual nutcracker ballet along with many other productions throughout the year in dance. Avery will be a Sophomore at Logan High School. This is her 6th LCT show. Delaney Small (Worker)
Delaney is thrilled to be back on the LCT stage! She has had a passion for theater as long as she can remember and is always so excited to share it with the audience! You may have previously seen her as Baby June in “Gypsy”, or in the Youth Ensemble in “Frozen”. She would like to thank her vocal coach for always helping with music, her family and friends for supporting her, and the entire production team for making this show the best show that it can be!
Kenzie Smith (Worker)
I'm happy to be a part of this play. I've been in three previous plays: The Walking Dwarves, Witches in Salem, and The Lightning Thief. I will be a junior this year where I will be busy with Robed Choir, Show Choir, and hopefully next season's play. In my free time you can find me at the library or with my cat watching a good tv show. I want to thank my mom for waking me up in the summer and my best friend for always being so supportive and encouraging<3 . Im so happy to be in this play!
Morgan Sommerfeldt (Worker) Morgan is excited to be on the LCT stage again! Previously she was seen in Oliver! as Youth Ensemble. She is a student at G-E-T High School and you can catch her there in November as Pinocchio in Shrek the Musical. She would like to thank her mom and brother for having to put up with her random bursting into song or choreo that might've driven them crazy. She hopes everyone loves the show!

Olivia is very excited to be in her third production at LCT! She has been doing acting at Holmen for three years now. Kieralynn Tupper (Hermes) All aboard!!!
Kieralynn is very excited to be performing as Hermes in LCT’s Hadestown. She is an upcoming Senior at Tomah High School. She has previously been onstage in 12 other shows. Hadestown is her 5th time onstage at LCT, some of her past shows including Oliver! (Dodger), Mean Girls (Sonja Acquino), and many more. When not on stage, Kiera enjoys sculpting and singing. She would like to thank everyone who supported her through this incredible and fun process, and hopes that you enjoy this sad tale.
Sophia Tzavaras (Worker) Sophia is thrilled to be taking the stage for their fifth show! Moving into the 9th grade, they have previously appeared in Bye Bye Birdie (Ensemble), Beauty and the Beast (Ensemble), Camp Rock (Sander Loya), and The Wizard of Oz (Oz). For them, the best parts of theater are the deep sense of community and choreography. They are incredibly proud to be a part of the Hadestown cast and hope you enjoy the show!
Lily Vue (Worker) Lily is extremely excited to be apart of Hadestown: Teen Edition! She has been in two other stories already told; Silena Beauregard/ Janis Joplin/Ensemble in The Lightning Thief, and Martha Corey/Farmer George in Witches?! In Salem?! Being apart of Hadestown: Teen Edition was super fun for her, and she recommends other students giving theatre a chance.
Juniper Waller (Worker) Juni is truly so excited to be a part of this production of Hadestown! In the fall, they will be a Senior at GET High. This is Juni's 8th overall production, and their 3rd at LCT. Some past shows include Once Upon a Mattress (Queen Aggravain), Sister Act (Pit Band), and Mean Girls: Teen Edition (u/s Janis). She didn't know much about this show going in, but after finishing the show, it's proven to be a lot of fun, even when she wasn't a named role. Previous theatre roles include: Conductor/ensemble in Bye Bye Birdie, Farmer in Witches!? In Salem!?, and Nun/ ensemble in The Sound Of Music. She hopes to keep growing her roles as a Central High School student before her graduation in 2028 and vows to try her best in anything she plays. She could never have gotten here without the support of her mother, her sister, and her music teachers, namely Ian Schultz. We hope you enjoy the show!

Lailah Winters (Worker)
Lailah is super duper excited to be included in the cast of Hadestown!! Past shows include: The wizard of Oz (munchkin, emerald city citizen/ensemble). She is a student at Logan High School and would like to thank her friends, and family, but most importantly her mom for helping her fall in love with the idea of preforming and the interest in musical theater. Oki now enjoy the show!!
Archie Wolcott (Orpheus)
Archie is delighted to make his LCT debut in Hadestown Teen Edition! Past credits include Ryan/Frump in Between the Lines and Pit Musician in the Addams Family, both at La Crescent Hokah High School. He will be a senior this fall, and would like to thank the rest of the cast and the production team for putting in so much time and effort to make this production something truly special. Anaïs Mitchell (Playwright) Anaïs Mitchell is a Vermontbased singer-songwriter and the Tony and Grammy award-winning creator of the Broadway musical Hadestown, for which she wrote book, music and lyrics. Hadestown won eight Tony Awards overall, including Best Musical, as well as the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Mitchell was named to TIME’s prestigious TIME100 list in 2020, and her first book, Working on a Song – The Lyrics of Hadestown, was published by Penguin/Plume in the same year. Dubbed by NPR as “one of the greatest songwriters of her generation,” Mitchell comes from the world of narrative folksong, poetry and balladry. Her Grammy-nominated recordings include her recent self-titled album Anaïs Mitchell (2022) and the self-titled debut of her folk-rock band Bonny Light Horseman (2020), whose third album will be released in 2024. Anaïs tours worldwide, and her music has featured in year-end best lists including NPR, The Wall Street Journal, MOJO, Uncut, The Guardian, The Sunday Times and The Observer.

PURCHASING TICKETS
• The box office is open from 3 pm until 5 pm Monday through Friday and for one hour prior to each performance.
• The box office accepts cash, checks, and credit/debit cards.
• Single tickets become available for purchase 60 days before a production’s opening night.
NEED TO EXCHANGE YOUR TICKETS?
Any ticket exchanges must be done through the box office in person or over the phone. Tickets may only be exchanged for another performance of the same show.
UNABLE TO USE YOUR TICKETS?
Please contact the box office to see if an exchange for a different date can be made. On rare occasions, LCT has allowed a ticket for one production to be used at a different production. If no exchanges can be made, the ticket price may be written off as a donation tax credit.
CAMERAS AND/OR RECORDING EQUIPMENT
The use of cameras and/or recording equipment is strictly prohibited in the theatre. If you need to answer a call, please do so in the lobby so as to not disrupt the performance.
GREETING THE ARTISTS
Flowers may be left in the box office for the stage manager to deliver or you may hand them to the cast member once they are in the lobby at the conclusion of the performance. Audience members are not allowed backstage.
BAD WEATHER POLICY
If you have concerns about the weather facing an upcoming performance, please call the box office to double check that the performance will still continue. On rare occasions, LCT has canceled performances due to bad weather or cast conditions. If this occurs, exchanges or refunds will be issued.
BABIES AND SMALL CHILDREN
Every individual, no matter the age, must have a ticket in order to attend the performance. If you would like to bring your children, please purchase seats for them even if they will be seated on someone’s lap.
SEAT RESERVATIONS
Reservations for the general public begin at least 60 days before the opening of each show; season ticket reservations open the week prior. Patron donors may reserve their seats at any time. Please call the box office at 608-784-9292 if you have any questions.
LATE SEATING POLICY
Late arrivals will be seated at the house manager’s discretion during an appropriate point in the performance. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the show begins, we reserve the right to release your seat(s) to someone else.
