Apply Chelating Shampoo Apply Deep Treatment with Power Boosters Spray Moisturizing Mist

Apply Chelating Shampoo to damp hair & work into an abundant lather.

Cleanse the entire hair shaft through the ends to remove any product build-up or mineral deposits.

Apply 1 pump of Deep Treatment with up to 3 pumps of desired Power Booster & blend; refer to chart. Leave in 3-5 minutes. Rinse.

Booster Chart

Cleanse with Keratin Healing Oil Shampoo or appropriate L’ANZA Shampoo. Rinse thoroughly & gently towel blot hair.

Spray Moisturizing Mist evenly throughout the hair.

Comb through & proceed with desired service.

If performing a permanent wave, wait to spray the Moisturizing Mist into the hair until the waving service is completed.

Apply Thermal Therapy – Part A into hair & distribute evenly. Cover hair with a plastic cap & place under medium heat for 10 minutes.

Rinse hair with tepid water & gently towel blot excess water. DO NOT COMB.

PROFESSIONAL USE:

With any L’ANZA decolorizer service—add up to 5 grams of Rapid Bond Reconstructor for every 30 grams of decolorizer formula.

AT-HOME USE:

Treatment: Thoroughly saturate hair & leave in for 2-3 minutes. Rinse.

Leave-In: For coarser hair types apply as often as needed to clean, damp hair to strengthen & heal damaged bonds.

Instructions for Use Test &

Preparation

SENSITIVITY TEST

A preliminary patch test should always be carried out to determine whether a special sensitivity exists. To conduct a patch test, cleanse a small area of skin behind the ear or on the inner surface of the forearm using either soap & water or alcohol. Mix a small quantity of the hair color formula as prepared for actual use (color + developer). Apply to the area & allow to dry completely. After 48 hours, gently wash the test area with soap & water. If no irritation or inflammation is apparent, it is usually assumed that no hypersensitivity to the formula exists. This test should be conducted before each color application. This step is especially crucial if any former allergic reaction has been present at any point.

PREPARATION FOR COLOR SERVICE

The Ultimate Color Service prepares the hair for optimal color results by utilizing the Ultimate Treatment to remove impurities that potentially block color uptake & restores essential proteins & moisture to ensure even color results.

Step 1

Apply Chelating Shampoo to damp hair; lather (do not manipulate scalp). Rinse.

Step 2

Apply 1 pump of Deep Treatment with up to 3 pumps of desired Power Booster blend; see guide for full usage details. Leave in 3-5 minutes. Rinse.

Step 3

Towel dry hair; mist with Healing Moisture Moisturizing Mist & comb through (do not rinse). Proceed with color service.

Utilize the L’ANZA Undertone Chart to determine if you will neutralize, enhance or counteract from your starting point to achieve your target.

Successful Color Formulation

NATURAL LEVEL (NL)

The starting level of virgin hair. This hair has not been previously colored, lightened or chemically altered. This hair usually resides nearest to the scalp.

EXISTING LEVEL (EL)

The starting level of previously colored, lightened or chemically altered hair. This hair usually resides at the mid-lengths and ends.

ROOT

Can you see the natural level or is it previously colored? Be very careful to seek out the true natural level, especially when lightening.

1. Is the end result lighter, darker, or on level?

2. Determine how many levels there are between the starting level and the target result. Or is it on-level?

3. What is the desired target color? Is the color warm, cool or natural?

Once natural & existing levels, target color & level are established, utilize the undertone chart for ÿnal formulation & developer choice. Determine if the formula will be neutralizing, enhancing or counteracting the natural undertone.

Neutralizing Example

Pale Yellow Violet = Neutralize & Balance

Traditional Virgin Color:

Apply color to new growth closest to scalp using lower developer. Apply to mid-lengths & ends utilizing the same color with a higher developer. Begin processing upon application completion.

EXAMPLE New Growth: 5N + 10 volume

Mid-length and ends: 5N + 20 volume

Modern Virgin Color:

1 PART Healing Color Developer (10, 20, 30, 40 Volume)

Apply color to new growth closest to scalp using developer of choice. Throughout mid-lengths & ends, mix 1/2 of the new growth formula + 1/2 of a shade 1 level warmer & 1 level lighter, keeping the same developer. Begin processing upon application completion.

EXAMPLE New Growth: 5N + 20 volume

Mid-length and ends: Equal parts 5N + 6G + 20 volume

Retouch:

Apply color to the new growth. Refresh mid-lengths & ends using L’ANZA Healing Color Demi, Demi Translucent or LIQUIDS.

Post-Color Service:

L’ANZA does not recommend shampooing prior to an on-scalp decolorizer service as this may increase scalp sensitivity. Proper assessment of hair condition is required to determine if hair integrity will be maintained during the decolorizing process.

ENHANCEMENT

MIX IN APPLICATOR BOTTLE

A gentle agitation is all that is needed to mix LIQUIDS! Pour desired amount of LIQUIDS Tone into applicator bottle, then add equal parts LIQUIDS Demi Gloss Activator. Once poured, gently rock the bottle, keeping your gloved finger covering the tip. Do this back and forth 3-5 times.

MIX WITH BOWL & BRUSH

With more agitation, LIQUIDS will thicken appropriately for a bowl and brush application. Pour in desired LIQUIDS tone, then add equal parts LIQUIDS Demi Gloss Activator. Once poured, gently stir the formula in the bowl until your desired consistency is reached.

REFINEMENT OF WARMTH
