Back 2 Uni An event where you'll have the opportunity to meet both new and returning students. It's the perfect way to get acquainted with Lappeenranta's student culture and is often described as an "icebreaker" before the fresher weeks begin. Tutors and fellow students will be there, so there's no need to worry about being left on your own!
Tour de Neon Lappeenranta's own version of the Tour de France, except the setting is the historic Lappeenranta Fortress, and the theme is Enklaavi's signature neon-yellow world. You'll take part in an activity course where you'll discover everything Enklaavi has to offer its members!
Academic Adventure The daytime program of the Academic Adventure consists of fun activity stations run by tutors and other organizations. During AA, you'll get to meet new people outside your tutor group, get to know Enklaavi's important partners, and, of course, have a great time. In the evening, an epic afterparty awaits but the only way to find out what's in store is to show up!

Beach party A traditional end-of-summer celebration on the shores of Lake Saimaa. At this event, freshmen get the chance to carry their tutors into the waters of Saimaa! After the splash, you can warm up under the lights of Las Palmas in downtown Lappeenranta. If you live in Skinnarila, there's no need to worry about bus schedules, transportation will make sure everyone gets to the afterparty and back safely.
Vierula and Chill Fresher weeks are a busy time for the Kuutit, so it's important to remember to relax too. Vierula & Chill is the perfect opportunity to unwind and chat with your new friends about everything that's happened so far. The event includes a sauna, swimming, and decorating your Economics student overalls glasses. Afterward, be sure to continue on in search of tickets to NESU-Enklaavi's legendary Freshers' Sitsit!
Fresher weeks final party Fresher weeks culminate at the final party, held in the parking lot of the Student Union Building (YOLO). Expect amazing performers, activity booths, and plenty of entertainment. It's the perfect way to celebrate the end of Fresher weeks and the beginning of your student life!

Hello freshers and welcome to Enklaavi! The freshman year and especially the Fresher weeks are full of new information. There are many ways to find information about events and other Enklaavi things. Here is a list of ways to find information about upcoming events etc.

The easiest and fastest way to find information about Enklaavi’s events. Most activity revolves around Instagram stories where Enklaavi’s own events as well as other guilds’ events are published. The weekly Newsletter will be published as a shortened version to the stories every Monday. Instagram highlights act as an archive where it is easy to check information about events.
News and actualities are published on Enklaavi’s website. On the front page there is a Google calendar where all Enklaavi’s events are published. It is possible to add this calendar to your own Google calendar, this way all events are easily in one place. More information about events can be found from the Event-tab. This tab holds information about Enklaavi’s biggest events as well as more detailed information about upcoming events.
Links to signups, Eksklaavi (Issuu) and to Flickr (photo archive) can be found on the Instagram profile.
The Weekly Newsletter, where upcoming events and actualities of the upcoming week can be found, is published on Sundays to Enklaavi’s website.

WEEKLY NEWSLETTER: NEWS TAB ON OUR WEBSITE A weekly newsletter is published every Sunday on the Enklaavi website. The newsletter contains more information than Instagram publications. Information about events, schedules (summer schedules of student restaurants, course enrollment) and recruiting information.
TELEGRAM: ENKLAAVI CHAT Group chat for Enklaavi members. Enklaavi chat is updated with news and actualities. The board members send up-to-date information about events and links to both registration and ticket sales. The chat is also an easy and faster way to ask more information about event details.

FRESHERCAPTAINS FRESHERCAPTAINS Hey new Enklaavi students! Welcome to Lappeenranta and huge congratulations on getting your study place. You must have worked really hard for this achievement, so be proud of yourselves! Whether Lappeenranta was your first choice or not, I hope you've come here with an open mind, ready to challenge yourselves and meet new people, because there will be a lot of them :) So, who am I actually? I'm Mikael Niemelä (Miksu among friends), and I'll be acting as your fresher captain this year. I'm 21 years old, starting my second year here, and I'm from a small enclave, a city called Kauniainen, which is surrounded by Espoo. I went to primary, middle, and high school there, which is why moving here to Lappeenranta felt very exciting and a bit scary. Luckily, the fear quickly faded away once I got to know the local student community and culture. In Skinnarila, it's easy to meet like-minded people through various clubs and extracurricular activities. Our student culture is also maintained by a phenomenon unique to Lappeenranta: the Skinnarilan henki (the spirit of Skinnarila). Skinnarilan henki ensures that everyone feels comfortable in Skinnarila regardless of their background or appearance. It unites all of us LUT students, so be brave and get to know students from other fields too. Well, what is my role as your fresher captain? My job is to make sure that all freshers enjoy their time in Lappeenranta as much as possible. I aim to do this by hanging out with you at events, on campus, and possibly in our free time :) Working alongside me is the international fresher captain Otto, who focuses more on welcoming the international freshers here in Skinnarila. We are both here for you people, so feel free to come talk to us or ask anything if something is on your mind. We'll gladly answer all your questions. Remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. Besides us, your awesome tutors and the Enklaavi board will also be helping you. That's enough yapping for now, and it's time to get down to business. Be ready a new semester is around the corner, which of course means that you can feel the Spirit of Skinnarila in the air. This means that our beloved university will be buzzing with old and new students alike, you can sense the excitiment that comes along with the start of a new academic year. However this time it will be your time to integrate to the finnish university life, this is an excellent opportunity for you to start a new chapter in your life. I warmly welcome you with open arms to LUT-University! My Name is Otto Rantanen, and I am the International Fresher Captain of Enklaavi. I am a 21-year-old third-year student. I grew up in Järvenpää but just finished my exchange abroad in The Netherlands and I am ever excited to meet you all during the academic year. And for anyone wondering, I study in the Sustainable International Business program, SIB for short. So, what do the fresher captains actually do? My job as a fresher captain along with Mikael and the Enklaavi tutors is to make sure that your integration to the student community in Skinnarila goes smoothly and with a smile on your face – so if you have any questions regarding studying in Lappeenranta or the student culture, please don't hesitate to contact me via email or telegram. ’ S R O T U T Aria Hello, I’m Aria! I’m 21 years old and originally from the Pori area. I’m starting my third year of the Sustainable International Business programme and I’m going to be an international master’s tutor this fall. Even though I moved to Lappeenranta from the other side of Finland, I can say that I’ve definitely found my place here. Nowadays I spend a lot of my free time doing various student activities and hanging around in Skinnarila. There’s no shortage of things to do here for those who are eager to be involved, after all! Along with student activities, I also enjoy archery, photography, and being outdoors.
I became a tutor because I want to help our new freshers start their studies and show them everything LUT and Skinnarila have to offer. We have an amazing community and student culture that definitely has something for everyone. Getting to be a part of the fresher weeks is also a huge plus, of course!
My own fresher year went by super fast. I got so many new experiences and encounters that helped me grow as a person, probably more than any other year before. I highly recommend you make the most of it, because the connections and experiences you can gain from it are unforgettable. Hi! I'm Amanda, I'm 23 years old, a fifth-year Enklaavi student, and originally from Lahti. I'm majoring in Supply Management, and this fall I'll be one of the tutors for the Finnish-language bachelor's programme. In my free time, I love anything related to music and sports. You'll often find me singing, working out at the gym, or watching Formula 1. I also have two adorable orange cats!
I decided to become a tutor because I wanted to help new freshers feel at home and get to know university life and student culture right from the very beginning. I also enjoy meeting new people, so tutoring felt like the perfect fit for me. What I'm most excited about is getting to know my fresher group and experiencing all the fun events during the fresher weeks together! <3 It's been a while since I was a fresher myself, but one thing I've never forgotten is how much my own tutor helped me settle into a completely new city and environment. They made me feel welcome from day one, and I hope I can do the same for my own freshers. A huge congratulations on your study place, and welcome to LUT and Enklaavi! I can't wait to meet you all!

What is Nesu? Hello new fresher (kuutti), and congratulations on getting into LUT from all of us too! I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of starting my first autumn at LUT, knowing that all the fun was still ahead. Don’t worry though, you don’t need to know everything right away, and you’re not supposed to either. The amazing student community here in Skinnarila, together with us at NESU-Enklaavi, will make sure that alongside lectures, you’ll make lots of new friends, attend fun events and connect with other business students from all around Finland. At first, the term NESU probably doesn’t mean much to anyone, so what exactly is it? NESU stands for Nordiska Ekonomie Studerandes Union. It is a Nordic network for business students that connects students here in Lappeenranta, across Finland and elsewhere in the Nordic countries. Every university city with business students has its own local NESU organisation, and here at LUT, that’s us: NESU-Enklaavi. We promise that during the fresher weeks, you’ll get to know what we do. In a nutshell, the heart of our activities is organising sitz parties. Before starting university, I had no idea what a sitz was either, and the best way to understand it is simply to attend one. A sitz is an academic dinner party where you meet new people, eat, drink, sing and enjoy fun performances and programme numbers throughout the evening. You’ll get your first chance to experience a sitz very soon at Kuutti sitz, and you don’t need to know anything beforehand. During the year, NESU also organises hangout evenings, an excursion and plenty of other fun activities! Everyone is welcome to join NESU activities, and you can always be yourself. What are sitz? Sitz parties are at the heart of NESU. They are difficult to explain beforehand, so the best way to understand them is to experience one yourself. For me, the best part is meeting new people. I have probably made new friends at every sitz I have attended. Sitz parties also include group singing, food, drinks and fun little performances. Students from other business schools often join too, so you can meet people from all around Finland. Every sitz also has a theme, giving you a chance to get creative with your outfit. Your first chance to attend a sitz is right at the beginning of autumn during Kuutti weeka, when NESU-Enklaavi organises KuuttARI-sitz on 7 September. Bring your new friends, find your best “-ari” outfit and join us with an open mind and a good mood. Rumourhas it that the best outfits may even win prizes. The NESU-Enklaavi board is already looking forward to meeting all you new freshers. All of you have an unforgettable autumn full of new friends and experiences ahead. Harassment Contact Persons Events organized by Enklaavi ry are committed to following the Safer Space Principles of the LUT Student Union (LTKY). This means that no form of harassment is tolerated at events organized by Enklaavi or any other student guild. By participating in an Enklaavi event, attendees agree to respect and follow these principles. In accordance with LTKY's principles, harassment, discrimination, and any other inappropriate behavior are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated at our events. More information about the Safer Space Principles can be found on LTKY's website. Unfortunately, uncomfortable situations can still occur, whether unintentionally or intentionally. For this reason, Enklaavi appoints designated harassment contact persons for every event. These individuals can be recognized by their white Ekonomi (Business Student) high-visibility vests. Participants are encouraged to approach them whenever they experience an unpleasant or upsetting situation, no matter how minor it may seem. Every Enklaavi harassment contact person has completed the required training, equipping them with the skills needed to handle a variety of situations. These contact persons consist of members of Enklaavi's Board as well as members of the Events Committee (Event Committee). Harassment contact persons are bound by confidentiality. This means that no one outside the discussion will be informed of what has happened unless the person seeking support wishes otherwise. Support will be provided for as long as it is needed. Contacting a harassment contact person does not automatically lead to further action. You are welcome to talk through what happened and process your feelings without any obligation to pursue the matter further. Harassment contact persons remain impartial, and you are welcome to speak with them about any issue that is weighing on your mind. If you were unable to find a harassment contact person during the event, or if the situation only began to trouble you afterward, you may also get in touch by email.
