Today in Regensburg, Germany we board the ultra-luxurious AmaMagna for an 8 day / 7 night cruise of the romantic Danube. In the evening, we are treated to an AmaWaterways-exclusive Bavarian Oktoberfest celebration complete with music, beer and pretzels.

Five bars, four unique restaurants, heated sun-deck pool and whirlpool, split level decks and a number of unique docking ports along the way – yes, check out the full of ship inclusions and features.

The Danube River, Europe’s second-longest river, flows through 10 countries, creating some of the continent’s most breathtaking landscapes. Locations described as “Pearls on the Danube” with notable “Pearls” including:

Golfers – here we go – playing the Bavarian Quellness & Golf Resort Bad Griesbach.

Regarded as Golf Paradise, the resort is widely regarded as Europe’s No. 1 golf resort, offering 129 golf holes across 10 courses –including five 18-hole Championship courses, three 9-hole layouts, and two 6-hole courses. Several courses were designed by German golf great Bernhard Langer, adding design pedigree and variety. We will be playing the Beckenbauer Course, which was the host of the Porsche European Open 2015 in 2017.

It also features Europe’s largest golf training centre – the Golfodrom® – with over 200 practice tees (many covered/heated), putting greens, chipping areas, and indoor simulator facilities, allowing year round play and practice. The resort has its own PGA Premium Golf Academy, plenty of practice zones, pro services, and regular tournaments for players of all abilities.

Not golfing? Join a walking tour and marvel at Passau’s Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Or take a guided hike up to the Veste Oberhaus fortress. You can also ride to Wernstein on a guided bike tour.

Today we all get to experience the beauty of Salzburg

A full-day excursion is offered to Salzburg, exploring the historic centre, Mirabell Gardens, Residenz Square, and the Old Market. Alternatively, you may choose a full-day excursion to the charming Czech mountain town of Český Krumlov, where you can wander its cobblestone streets, admire the city’s picturesque Baroque and Renaissance-style architecture, and tour Krumlov Castle, one of Europe’s largest castle complexes.

After these full-day excursions, you may opt for a brief walking tour of Linz, or enjoy a more immersive experience with a walking tour through the old city centre, passing the Mozart House, or a bike ride along the city’s famed “Cultural Mile” and the Danube. Later in the day, visit Greinburg Castle, the oldest residential castle in Austria.

Wednesday 1 September 2027

Cruising overnight we arrive at the port of Melk. For non-golfers there are lots of options including a Melk Abbey visit, walk or hiking tours, or a number of cycle tours.

In the morning, you can visit the 900-year-old Melk Abbey situated high atop the granite cliffs of the Danube. You can also opt to join a guided hike to the abbey, with the option to join the guided tour, or you may choose to bike to Marbach before returning to Melk and the ship for lunch. During the afternoon, journey to Spitz and take a guided excursion to Dürnstein to stroll along the cobblestone streets to the Baroque Stiftskirche, with its famed church tower on a walking tour.

More active adventure? Hike to the historic Dürnstein Fortress, cycle through Spitz, or hike around Spitz up to Rotes Tor. In the evening, be treated to an exclusive wine festival where you’ll enjoy some of the region’s famous wines.

Golfers we tackle the picturesque Adamstal.

Golfclub Adamstal, is one of Austria’s most spectacular golf destinations, set in the scenic Alpine foothills near Ramsau, Lower Austria. Golfclub Adamstal boasts a 27-hole facility made up of an 18-hole Championship Course and a 9-hole “Wallerbach” Course

All 27 holes are uniquely integrated into the varied terrain of the Lower Austrian Alpine foothills, with natural streams, elevation changes, forest clearings, and rock formations shaping the routing. The club is nestled in the Austrian Alpine foothills, far from urban noise and surrounded by forests and rolling hills – creating a true nature golf experience. It’s regularly recognised as one of Austria’s top golf courses and features on lists of the Leading Golf Courses Austria since 2002. Adamstal has been awarded Austria’s Golf Course of the Year several times and repeatedly ranks among Europe’s most popular courses in player surveys. Designed by Jeff Howes, the course cleverly uses the natural terrain to create dramatic fairways, strategic challenges, and memorable holes across both courses. Signature holes, which include tough par 4s and dramatic elevation changes, reward strategic play and showcase the Alpine scenery. The varied landscape means the round feels dynamic and visual, with panoramic views of the surroundings enhancing the experience.

Day in Vienna!

Experience the timeless grandeur of Vienna, a city of imperial elegance and cultural brilliance. Your guided city tour unveils its most iconic treasures, from the majestic Opera House to the storied Imperial Palace of the Habsburgs, where centuries of history and refinement come alive. Stroll through Vienna’s historic city centre and marvel at its architectural splendour, or glide along its streets on a bicycle tour, immersing yourself in the rhythm of this vibrant capital.

In the afternoon, step into the world of imperial opulence at Schönbrunn Palace, the resplendent summer residence of the Habsburg emperors. With 1,441 lavishly adorned rooms, this Rococo masterpiece epitomizes Baroque elegance. Your exclusive visit includes a guided tour of the Imperial Apartments, a journey through the Carriage Museum, and a leisurely exploration of the palace’s immaculate gardens, where every fountain, terrace, and flowerbed reflects the grandeur of an imperial era.

Friday 3 September

Today we leave Vienna and cruise in to Bratislava. Golfers will take on the Penati Resort challenge!

Penati Golf Resort is the largest golf facility in Slovakia and is consistently ranked among the Top 100 golf courses in Continental Europe. Penati is regularly featured in international golf rankings, drawing acclaim for its design quality, course conditions, and natural beauty. It has hosted major amateur and professional tournaments, including events on the European Challenge Tour and the Slovak Open Championship. The property sprawls over 217 hectares of gently rolling parkland and forest landscape near the Little Carpathian Mountains, offering scenic views and a tranquil setting for golf and leisure. Around the golf courses are lakes, cycling and hiking trails, tennis courts, and family-friendly recreational opportunities, making it a wellrounded destination beyond golf.

Our challenge is the Legend Course, designed by Nicklaus Design, this championship layout follows USGA standards and features wide, undulating fairways, strategic bunkering, and challenging greens. One of its standout features is a 712m (more than 770 yards) hole with 11 tee options – one of the longest in Central Europe. Anyone want to give it a go?

Walking shoes on, non-golfers will enjoy a tour of Bratislava. Host to the crowning ceremonies of 11 Hungarian kings and queens between 1536 and 1830, Bratislava certainly has earned the title “Coronation City of Kings”. Or join a special “Tastes of Slovakia” tour. For a more active day, hike to its gleaming castle..

Saturday 4 September

We sail in to Budapest today, passing through the scenic Danube Bend where you’ll see some of Hungary’s oldest settlements, including Esztergom, Visegrád and Szentendre.

Budapest offers an unmatched combination of culture and tradition. On the Buda side of the city, follow your guide through the city’s Castle District where you will marvel at the fairytale turrets of Fisherman’s Bastion, gaze upon the breathtaking panorama below and see Matthias Church, renowned for its striking tower and colourful mosaic roof. For a more active tour, hike to Budapest’s Castle Hill – that’s for the non-golfers.

Golfers – our last chance to golf on tour! We travel 50 minutes from the city centre to BotaniQ Golf Club, one of Hungary’s finest!

BotaniQ is a Championship 18-hole golf course set in a scenic valley framed by rolling hills, lakes and forests, originally known as Pannonia Golf & Country Club before being rebranded as part of the BotaniQ Collection. Designed by noted architect Hans G. Erhardt, the course meets high European standards and offers a blend of beauty and challenge for golfers of all levels.

This is where it ends – well for 2027, that is. Our Cruising & Golfing Europe 2027 Extravaganza finishes today after breakfast when we need to disembark the luxurious AmaMagna. Till the next fairway, or river – bon voyage.
