JUNIOR BENJAMIN LAMONTAGNE
Hello, my name is Benjamin Lamontagne and I am a junior member in the Chauvin Beef 4H Club. This is my first year in 4H. I’ve learned so much in my first year already. I’ve attended a couple judging classes and the beef learning event on top of all the other learning events we do during our monthly club meetings. We got to listen to a speaker talk about nutrition during one of our first meetings which I thought was pretty cool. I also learned how to tag a cow properly, so I got to tag Nixon my steer on weigh day. I also got first place in my public speaking event and continued on to Districts public speaking. Let me tell you about my steer Nixon, a tan white face Simmental cross. Nixon really likes to eat his food and lets me snuggle on his back when he is relaxing. He also really loves butt scratches. He gets fed a barley ration with minerals and molasses and free choice hay. I am excited for my very first show and sale. I really hope everyone loves Nixon as much as I do because he really is a great friendly steer. Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers for making the show and sale day possible.

Hi, my name is Barek. This is my first year as a junior after three years in cleaver’s. My steer’s name is Diesel because he is powerful. I love 4-H because I have fun with all the activities with new friends. I also love to play golf, hockey, and baseball. Thank you to all the sponsors that make show day possible!
CYNTHIA LAMONTAGNE

Hi, my name is Cynthia Lamontagne, and this is my first year in 4H. I’m an intermediate member of the Chauvin Beef 4-H Club. I’ve attended quite a few extra courses to learn all I can about 4h and cattle husbandry. During our meetings we have had a few speakers teach us about nutrition and how the rumen works. I’ve also learned the proper placement for ear tags and brisket tags, so I was able to tag my own steer at weigh day. The latest course I attended was the Beef Learning event. I really enjoyed learning about judging and beef nutrition which has helped me with raising my first 4H steer. My steer is named Niles, a red and white Simmental cross, he likes to walk around way more than staying still or being tied up. Niles is always the first one to the feed trough when it’s feeding time. He gets fed a barley, mineral ration with some molasses and free choice hay. I’m really looking forward to having everyone see just how nice he looks in person as pictures just don’t show how great he really looks. Hi, my name is Rylan, this is my second year in the Chauvin 4H Beef Club and this is my Steer Yeti. I picked him as my steer this year because his mom was a bottle baby. She is very quiet therefore Yeti was a quiet calf, and he was used to people. I started feeding him hay, oats and show feed. I am finishing him on barley and finisher ration feed. Thank you to my buyer last year J-GAARD Contracting Ltd. Yeti and I look forward to seeing you on show day June 3rd in Edgerton!
Hi, my name is Grayson and this is my third year in the Chauvin 4H Beef Club. This is my Steer Cheeseball. I chose him as my steer this year because he was a good-sized calf out in the corn field. I started him on hay, oats and starter feed. I am finishing him on barley and finisher ration. Thank you to my buyer last year Green Belt Farms. Cheeseball and I look forward to seeing you on show day!

My name is Evie Beatty, and this is my steer, Pancho. He loves to eat! I got his name from an old country song by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson called “Pancho and Lefty”. He is much bigger than my previous steer and has been a very different challenge. This is my 3rd year in 4H, this is also my first time being president of the club. Hi, my name is Annika white this is my fourth year in 4-H my steers name is rib eye he is a very good boy and loves his butt scratched! I love 4-H because I love working with cows and learning new skills every day in 4-H. I also enjoy playing hockey, curling, softball, golf, and badminton and thank you to our sponsors who make achievement day possible and hope to see you there on June 4 at the Edgerton arena.

Hi, my name is Relynn Freeman, this is my first year in the Chauvin 4-H Beef Club and I am a senior. I have had an amazing year in 4-H so far, I got first place in my club for public speaking and went on to districts. I’ve also gone to many seminars, for example the beef learning event teaching me how to properly trim 4-H steer. Learning how to properly tag and band calves, I have also learned beef nutrition with guest speakers during meetings. I’ve gone to the “you be the judge” which taught me a lot about judging, showing me how to properly word your judging responses with positive and unique comments. Nutless is a red, blaze face Simmental cross steer, he is named this because I love toothless from the show How To Train Your Dragon. I couldn’t name him Toothless because he had teeth, but he is a steer so instead named him Nutless. He loves his treats and cuddles, and he especially loves his pets. He has been a well-mannered and gentle steer though at first he was nervous to stand by himself. He is on a ration of barley, hay, and minerals with molasses as a treat. Thank you to all the generous sponsors and volunteers that make this sale and 4-H possible!

Hi, my name is Archie Schopfer and I am showing a steer this year. His name is Storm Trooper. He can be a little bit sassy but that just makes him more fun. When I go in his pen, he will look for me to play with him. He also really likes getting scratched.

My name is Blake White, I am 7 years old and this is my first year in 4H. This year I have a bottle calf named Cherry because she is red. My favorite part of 4H is doing the crafts and the district dance. I also like playing outside and riding my bike and quad.

If you or your organization have been asked to purchase a steer, but do not want to keep the animal, you may resell it to a commercial buyer for a floor price to be announced prior to the sale.

Purchase Price: 1,250 lbs. x $2.90 = $3,625
Resale Price: 1,250 lbs. x $2.00 = $2,500 Your actual cost: $1,225
Your support as this sale will encourage these 4-Hers to continue their pursuit of the livestock industry. These young people have devoted many hours to the preparations of their animals to present them at this sale of quality beef animals. Remember that these young people have higher costs than commercial cattlemen. Premium prices all them a small margin of profit.
