Clinical Mental Health Counseling Residency Agenda Friday, June 12, 2026 – June 14, 2026 MHC525 GROUP COUNSELING RESIDENCY SCHEDULE Attendance and participation are for all activities throughout the Residency weekend. Residency is an orientation and acclimation to the program. It is an opportunity to interact with faculty and peers while enhancing student learning. Residency is designed to fulfill the requirements of the above course. Due to the nature of the learning environment, students must attend all sections as there are components in which the student presents information relating to the class. Residency is a program and course requirement. Friday, June 12, 2025 Turner Auditorium Arrival & Greetings 8:00 am - 8:15 am Presenter: Dr. Dominguez CACREP 2024 Standards Section 3.E Welcome, Overview of Learning Objectives, & Faculty Introductions 8:15 am - 9:00 am Presenters: Dr. Dominguez, all faculty CACREP 2024 Standards Section 3.E Student Services 9:00 am - 9:30 am Presenter: Heather Cordner Objective: Provide students with information about the university, resources, and services available to students. 9:30 am - 10:00 am Ethics Overview Presenter: MHC525 Faculty Objective: Provide students with clear expectations and procedures for maintaining confidentiality and privacy during their residency experience. The presenter will emphasize the essential role of confidentiality in fostering trust, rapport, and emotional safety within counseling relationships. Content will include the collaborative nature of the counselor–client relationship, establishing and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries, understanding the limits of confidentiality, best practices for protecting client information, and applying these principles with sensitivity to multicultural and diversity considerations (American Counseling Association, 2014).
