Reconnecting the Bayfront: 2019 Erie Charrette

In October 2019, Masters' students from Kent State University & Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative staff convened in Erie, PA for 3 days for the annual Midwest Urban Design Charrette. This year, the students studied Erie's Bayfront, long disconnected from its Downtown and adjacent neighborhoods by infrastructure, topography, and programmatic divisions. The final design ideas were organized into four main goals: Create a public-centered Bayfront; Deploy a range of connection types; Tie in the East & West side neighborhoods; and Highlight Erie's unique heritage. The final work was assembled into this report & published with the support of the Jefferson Educational Society, the local Charrette partner.
