A new year means that many of you have new insurance plans. Please stop by the front desk at your earliest convenience and update your information if your Silver Sneakers, Renew Active, or Silver & Fit plan has changed for 2026, or if you have added one of the benefit plans for the first time. Updating your information in a timely manner will help you avoid fees for the activities you attend.

Reminder Weather Policy: When Johnson City Schools are on a twohour delay, all community centers will open at 10:00 am and close at

regular hours. When Johnson City schools are closed, centers will open at 10:00 am and close at 5:00 pm.

We are currently planning a Historical Marker Ceremony at the Johnson City Senior Center. This marker will recognize the center as the first nationally accredited senior center in the state of Tennessee. If you or someone you know attended the original senior center when it first opened up or anytime during its operation, please let Rachel Evans (Recreation Services Manager) know.

This is a time to get together and work on your skills and share ideas while enjoying the company of other players.

Silk Painting

Painting on silk is a unique and wonderfully creative skill. You will be painting on a long rectangle of silk, using your choice of one of Sherry’s many fascinating techniques. The creative possibilities are endless. Your creation can become a scarf to wear or give as a gift, or to use in your home décor, such as a window or wall hanging! An apron is recommended.

Strolling Seniors Walking Program

This is a partnership with Tri Cities Walking Challenge. This group is simply to get the community moving and socializingwhat better way than walking. Our goal is to be a motivational tool to help achieve a better you. Meet at the Senior Center entrance to walk down to the Tweetsie Trail. The walk will be 2 miles. If you only want to do 1 mile meet the group at the trail head at 8:45am.
