The Johnson City Senior Center is located within Memorial Park Community Center and plans programs of interest for those 50+. The facility includes a fitness room, a computer lab, 2 full size gyms, a billiards room, 3 pools, several meeting/class rooms and 18 pickleball courts (indoor and outdoor)

Decoupage Made Easy

Many surfaces can be decoupaged! We’ll make a set of four ceramic coasters that are hexagon shaped. We’ll perfect the “dry” method of decoupage and seal our project for home use. Coasters also make a great small gift. Choose your design from a variety of instructor provided papers or bring your own paper napkins. Mix and match designs!

Silk Painting Class

Painting on silk is a unique and wonderfully creative skill. You will be painting on a long rectangle of silk, using your choice of one of Sherry’s many fascinating techniques. The creative possibilities are endless. Your creation can become a scarf to wear or give as a gift, or to use in your home décor, such as a window or wall hanging! An apron is recommended.

Earth Day Hike & Scavenger Hunt

Celebrate Earth Day with a fun scavenger hunt and nature outing. Explore Jacob’s Nature Park learn about all the wonders of our Earth and what’s in your own backyard. There will be a short interpretative hike led by our park naturalist, Connie Deegan, and a scavenger hunt for our younger participants. Following the hike there will be an educational seminar going over what was found during the hike! Ages 8+, meet at the outdoor classroom at 1919 Ocala Street at 3:45. Program runs 4-5:15 pm. Hike is easy level. Cost is free, please pre-register. Parking is limited so please consider parking at 1220 King Springs Road and enjoy the short walk to the classroom.

This class incorporates Yoga, Pilates, and mobility exercises for a well-rounded class that will promote both flexibility and relaxation. Participants will need the ability to get up and down off the floor unassisted for this class.

Bays Mountain

Cardio Drumming

Cardio Drumming is a fitness trend that combines drumming with cardiovascular exercise, using exercise balls and drumsticks to create a fullbody, low-impact workout. It’s a fun and engaging way to improve cardiovascular health, coordination, and balance, suitable for various fitness levels and ages.

Join us for a great cardio workout including punches and kicks to get our blood pumping and have a great time! We will hold the class outdoors unless the weather doesn’t cooperate and then we will move indoors.

Arthritis Class

Tuesday and Thursday 11-11:40am

Have a form of arthritis? This is an activity that can help manage the symptoms of arthritis. This class will help get you moving with a low impact exercise. It is held in the Therapy pool which is equipped with a handicap lift.
