Dear Parents/ Carers, Welcome to the first Parent Bulletin of this academic year. It is with regret that this first one will take a more muted approach as we are in this national period of mourning for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

As a school, we have so much to celebrate including the wonderful settled start that our students have made this year, our excellent outcomes at both GCSE and Post 16 and the positive way in which all our students have approached the start of the new academic year. Our next bulletin will be back in our more celebratory style. It was my privilege, along with Ms Preston, Head of Personal Development, to deliver a whole school assembly today paying tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We celebrated her life and contribution to our world and spoke a little about mourning and bereavement to help our students process this historical event in their own individual ways. Those of you who have received our bulletins in the past will know that our Year Progress Leaders always like to say a few words. I felt it appropriate to include these this week. Like me, they are incredibly proud of the start our students have made. I have also included some of the brilliant creative writing pieces our students produced with Miss Woods this week. They are brilliant. Alongside this bulletin you will have received the school’s Home Learning Booklet. This is full of useful information, links and ways to support your child’s home learning. I would, however, like to highlight that next Saturday 24th September is our Year 6 Open Morning where we will be opening our door to prospective parents at the amazing school that I am so proud of. To prepare the school for the event, students will leave the school site at 1:20pm on Friday 23rd September. There will be an extended break to allow all children to access the full complement of hot food and those eligible for free school meals can also collect their lunch before they leave the school site. If you have a child in Year 6 and would like to attend, then please click here for details. All information is available on the school website. We will also be running school tours from Monday 26th to Thursday 29th September which are bookable from the same link.

Some of you may have children that have been asked to support us for the open morning. Your son/daughter will bring a letter home with a permission slip that should be signed and returned to student reception. All students that are helping should be in full school uniform. If your son/daughter is helping, please make arrangements to meet them at the end of the morning. It is always a very busy morning.

I hope you are given the opportunity on Monday to spend valuable time with your friends and family.
