Message from the Headteacher Dear Parents/ Carers,

0pts 2nd 680pts

It’s fast approaching the end of another really busy and productive term for us at Roding Valley High School. We have now come to the end of our pre public examination period for our Year 11 and 13 students and we have been very impressed with the mature attitude displayed by these cohorts towards their exams. Our Year 11 and 13 students are fully aware that the run up to the exam period is now certainly upon us, and that every minute spent with their subject teachers is crucial learning time.

For all Year 11 parents, you will see that a letter recently went out regarding preparation for the exam season, with a timeline for all events related to Year 11. If you want to see this letter, please click here. Ms Wheaton will shortly be writing to Year 13 parents to outline similar plans.

Since the last bulletin, you may have also seen that we opened our brand new building; the Forest Building. The building was officially opened by Barbara Cohen, the Loughton Mayor. She gave a short speech and cut a ribbon to mark this occasion for us. Our students and staff are really enjoying the new, spacious classrooms. It’s also been a busy time in relation to Personal Development in school. Last week, our Year 11 cohort participated in a ‘Drop Down Day’ where they took part in sessions ranging from relationships to finances. Lots of our Year 11 students commented on how useful some of these sessions were to prepare them for life after school. Some of our Year 10 students were also given the opportunity, towards the end of last week, to engage in the Jack Petchey ‘Speak Out’ Challenge. I really look forward to seeing how we progress in this public speaking competition.
