Both our Year 11 and Year 13 cohorts are deep into their Pre Public Examinations (PPEs) and it’s been wonderfully reassuring to see how maturely they have approached these important exams. Once this cycle is complete, our teaching staff will be busy assessing and preparing our students for their ‘closing the gap’ tasks, so that our students know exactly where they performed well and more importantly, what they need to do to improve for the second round of assessments later on this academic year. This week we also marked remembrance and Armistice day with a whole school, virtual, assembly and a series of year group assemblies led by Ms Preston (Head of Personal Development) and Mr Cocker (Head of Humanities). We all stood together and participated in two minutes silence, followed by a powerful message from two of our Year 13 English literature students; Bella and Amber. They spoke so eloquently about their war poetry studies and read a poem by Wilfred Owen. Last week was an exciting week from a trips and visits perspective. A large group of Year 7 students watched Matilda in the West End with Ms Joseph and the Drama department. They were wonderfully behaved and represented our school brilliantly. The beginning of the week also began with a Hospitality and Catering trip to Westminster Kingsway college for our Year 10 and 11 catering students. It was a tremendous opportunity to learn outside of the classroom and improve their GCSE skills in preparation for their practical exam. Food Allergens Reminder - Within a school community there will be students who have some mild allergies whilst others can be more severe and potentially life threatening. With the above in mind we would like to ask you to remind your child(ren) to always ask our canteen staff if they are unsure what ingredients have been used. Also, please ensure if your child has any known allergies we are made aware so we can best support them in school & if required hold medication.
