Dear Parents/Carers As we come towards the end of a long but very fulfilling half-term, I want to start off by saying how incredibly happy we are with the start that has been made to the academic year. Our students and staff have worked very hard over the past 8 weeks to ensure the best possible start to what we expect to be another successful year for Roding Valley. During this time, we have welcomed lots of visitors into our school and each one has commented on the positive atmosphere that they have felt as they have walked around the building and we are really driven to maintain this as the year progresses. Over the last couple of weeks, we have held a number of exciting events in school. Our entire Year 9 cohort experienced a ‘Drop Down Day’ organised by Mrs Preston (Head of Personal Development), from the group ‘Prison Me, No Way!’. The organisation tours around the country educating students on how to stay safe and the consequences that we all face if we make the wrong choices. The organisation commented on how engaged and polite our students were; we were exceptionally proud of them. Ms Wills, Associate Assistant Head Teacher and Head of Year 11, also ran our first ever Roding Valley Foundation Quiz Night. It was so well supported by so many parents, carers and teachers. In fact, we are already organising our next event! If you wish to be a part of the Roding Valley Foundation, then you can contact Ms Wills directly - rwills@rodingvalley.net. It’s also important to mention that both our Year 11 and 13 cohorts will be entering into their first PPE (Pre Public Examination) season of the year when we return after the half term break. I know that they have been working really hard on their ‘RVHS Tried and Tested’ revision techniques. We wish them every success in these upcoming ‘mock’ examinations. Please remember that there are an abundance of helpful resources that students, parents and carers can all access. Please click here to access both the GCSE & A-Level bespoke microsites.
