I hope that you have had a great summer and are enjoying the final few weeks of sun before autumn arrives. I am delighted to welcome our entire school community back for what promises to be an exceptional academic year. We have had a particularly busy start, welcoming our new Year 7 and Year 12 students who have settled in remarkably well. They started a day earlier than the rest of the school as part of their induction and we are delighted with the way in which they have settled in, building new friendships with each other and getting to know their teachers. Each year group has now participated in welcome back assemblies with myself and their respective Head of Year, providing an excellent opportunity to establish expectations and celebrate the year ahead. I am pleased to report that we have welcomed a small number of new staff members to our school. They have now met their classes and have already spoken incredibly highly of our brilliant students. All new staff are enrolled into our induction programme and will continue to be supported by the faculty leads as the year continues. Our summer examination results have been truly exceptional and deserve particular recognition. Our GCSE results showed significantly improved performance across all measures and subjects. In terms of both progress and attainment, we are delighted that our students have performed so well, which is testament to their hard work and the commitment of our teachers and staff. It is difficult to single out one subject over another as all performed incredibly well. These outstanding results have enabled us to enrol a record number of Year 12 students. Our A Level results have been equally impressive, improving for the second consecutive year. Almost 12% per cent of grades awarded at A*, 32% of grades awarded at A*- A, and an incredible 62.5% of grades awarded at A*- B. A quarter of all vocational grades were awarded at distinction*, the highest possible grade. Results for the Extended Project Qualification were also exceptional, with 83% of grades awarded at A*- A. Looking ahead, I am excited to announce that Matilda auditions have generated tremendous enthusiasm, with 63 Year 7 and 8 students already auditioning for roles- a record number! Further details about this year’s production will be shared with you later in the year. Several important dates require your attention. The extra-curricular timetable for 2025-26 can be found here, with all 61 lunchtime and after-school clubs beginning on Monday 15TH September. These are all free of charge, and I encourage every student to participate.
