As we approach the end of a busy half-term at Roding Valley, it’s another opportunity for us to take stock and reflect on what has been - for many reasons a very important year for us as a school. Finally, we have received confirmation from the Department for Education that a new temporary kitchen facility will be funded for us, and although we still await confirmation about the building works needed to fix the RAAC affected building, we will at least have a full kitchen service up and running for the beginning of the new academic year. Our project manager, site team and staff at CLP are working hard to ensure that this happens on schedule and ready for the return of all students. Over the course of the year, I have written about the importance of high standards and high expectations. As a school, we are clear about expectations regarding uniform, attendance and punctuality. I would encourage you to help us maintain these standards by ensuring that your child comes to school in full uniform and wearing it correctly, including whilst travelling to and from school, all students should arrive at school with the correct equipment, on time, every single day. We believe that these high standards help all students to be able to focus on their academic study and the extra-curricular opportunities which we offer. We will, where necessary, use our Student Behaviour and Expectations Policy to sanction students where there are failures to meet our expectations, whilst being alert to the fact that we are working with young people, who will on occasions make mistakes. If you need any support with purchasing a school uniform, then please visit our pre-loved uniform page on the school website for more information. Exam season is now well underway for both year 11 and year 13 students. They have started exceptionally well, and have been incredibly focussed over the past few weeks. We wish them all the best for their examinations and hope that they have a restful and productive half-term break.
