It’s great to be back at school after a wonderful Easter break- we really hope you managed to spend time with your loved ones and have a well-deserved break. We have hit the ground running and we are ready to tackle a really important term. You will be aware that this term contains those very important public examinations for our Year 11 and 13 cohort (Some Year 12 students also have public exams!). Ms Larkin will be writing to all parents of Year 11 students on Monday with some final arrangements, including a link to a very extensive in-school revision programme led by my team between Tuesday 28th - Friday 31st May. Ms Curling will also be doing the same for Year 13. This term will also, of course, be exciting for our Year 9 cohort. After the May half term, Year 9 will be moving into their GCSE option subjects, whereby they will get a ‘flying start’ with their GCSE core content. It has been great to see how excited our Year 9 students have been to embark on the next stage of their GCSE journey. Over the past couple of weeks, I have also had the pleasure of witnessing some excellent enrichment opportunities experienced by our students. Last Wednesday, a group of Year 10 students bravely (and very confidently!) presented their ‘Jack Petchey’ Speak out speeches to Year 7 during their assembly. Each speech was carefully crafted and the topics ranged from ‘how running can improve your mental health’ to ‘encouraging women to remain in sport’. Well done to Mia, Melissa, Isabelle, Zoe, Polinia and Marilyn. A special well done to Mia, who will be representing our school in the regional final on Wednesday! Watch this space for updates on how she gets on.
