As we reach the end of a remarkably busy Spring Term, I know that pupils and staff are very much looking forward to a well-deserved Easter break. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and commitment during this term. Spring is a time filled with potential, and it has been a thrill for all of us to be able to embrace a number of new and exciting opportunities at Roding Valley. We have collated together some of the highlights of the year so far to share with you as we head into the Easter break. Our assembly schedule has been action packed, and has included a number of guest speakers over the course of the year. We have had assemblies on Road Safety, Remembrance, the Holocaust, Black History month and Mental Health and Wellbeing. Alongside these assemblies we celebrated a number of events including World Mental Health Day, Safer Internet Day, Pi Day and also took part in several charity events including Wear Red for Racism. As a community we marked Chinese New Year, Diwali and the beginning of Ramadan in mid march. While we do not all observe this, we can each draw inspiration from Ramadan’s universal principles of gratitude, selflessness and service to reinvigorate our own efforts to advance a more just and equitable world. Eid al-Fitr - which means 'festival of the breaking of the fast - is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, and this year falls during the Easter break. We extend warm wishes to all of our Muslim colleagues, families, students and friends who will be celebrating during this time. We have also held a record number of careers talks so far this year, with speakers from a wide range of industries and companies such as The Times, Higgins Group, BGC Group, OMG Media, Investment 20/20, Media 10 Ltd, Attwaters Jamerson Hill Solicitors, Salesforce, Ernst & Young, Capgemini, Deloitte and Lockton Insurance.
