“There is hope at the end of the road; you just have to keep that faith.” - Ray

Ray’s Resilience: From Hardship to Hope

Ray, who had never experienced homelessness before, found himself living out of his car amid extreme heat. He had always prided himself on his independence and hard work, but mounting pressures led him to a situation he never anticipated. His car, once a refuge, was no longer a viable home as his resources dwindled.

During this challenging time, Ray learned about Hope the Mission’s Tiny Homes Shelter, which provides essential services like meals, showers, and a supportive

community. Initially, Ray hesitated to accept help, feeling that others might be in greater need. His pride made him reluctant, but as his situation became increasingly dire, he recognized that he needed support to move forward.

Dear Friend of Hope,

Fifteen years ago, I felt deeply moved by the needs of the unhoused in our community. In that moment, I felt a profound conviction to start a new Rescue Mission to eradicate homelessness in Los Angeles.

Today, we proudly celebrate our quinceañera—15 years of unwavering service to the poor, the hungry, the hurting, and the homeless. Over the years, we have not only grown but also significantly expanded the depth and quality of our services. From a single vision, we now operate 23 homeless shelters, with 11 more projects in the pipeline.

We've broadened our care to include a dedicated mental health department, outreach teams, traumainformed specialists, and many other critical services to uplift those in need.

As I reflect on these past 15 years, my heart swells with gratitude and excitement for the future. I look forward with great anticipation, knowing that there is so much more we can accomplish together. My prayer is that Hope the Mission will continue to provide compassion and transformation, fulfilling the God ordained sacred work of caring for those less fortunate. None of this would have been possible without YOU—our faithful donors and volunteers. We needed you then, and we will need you even more in the next 15 years as we strive to do even greater things!

With deepest gratitude,
