Well last month’s meeting was bitter sweet wasn’t it? We were so excited that we had the biggest crowd we have had in a long time in anticipation of hearing Larry Goins speak but the problem was Larry was too sick to come himself. The evening did not turn out to be the way it was intended and for this we are truly sorry and so is Larry. In fact, Larry has done a free webinar to make it up. Replay of the recorded webinar is in the works as well. We really do try to offer an assortment of topics and speakers that appeal to everyone but sometimes events are out of our control so we do the best we can. March’s meeting will be a local panel of experts on home energy. This will be led by our very own Eric George, who is a Home Energy Rater and BPI Building Analyst. These experts will share their experience and advice on how to make your home more energy-efficient and comfortable, as well as more healthy and durable. Lower utility payments and more comfortable tenants can increase cash flow and translate to longer-term tenants, less turnover, and a bigger bottom line! We have also had fantastic turnout for the other activities that KREIA puts on for members. Both LOTS (learn on the site) and the networking lunch provide socializing with fellow investors in informal surroundings where you can talk about whatever is on your mind. I highly encourage you to participate in these. Details are on the website. And speaking of the website—the Express Lane Check-in promises to be the best feature to ever come along. You can pre-pay and print a receipt and avoid the line that we sometimes have at the door. The website in general is packed full of information so check it out! Again I want to thank all of the board members and volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to make this club what it is and what it will still become. The elections are coming up in June so if you would like to give back to the club and become involved in it I highly recommend you consider running for one of the positions. Our History… The Energy Pros began in 2005 when a sub-contractor gathered a group of local business owners to sponsor educational seminars in an empty warehouse. These seminars began with four business owners, a speaker and a passion to educate the public. To date, the Energy Pros have educated over 5,300 people and have been involved with the construction of many High Performance Homes. Over the last 3 years, builders in our group have achieved the lowest scoring “HERS” (Home Energy Rating Score) rating in the LGE/KU service area. Our “Pros” are truly dedicated to building and retro-fitting your home in the most efficient way possible!

Nominations 2013 Election Procedures Your President has selected this year’s nominations and elections committee, and we would like to inform you of KREIA’s election procedure, which is as follows. KREIA is run by a Board of Directors consisting of five officers, twelve at-large Board members, the immediate past president, and the parliamentarian. The five officer positions—President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Treasurer-Elect—are filled each year for one-year terms. The twelve at-large Board members are elected for two-year terms, with six new members being elected each year. There are no term limits and all incumbents may run for reelection if they so desire. (As a two-term president, Connie Horsey has chosen not to seek re-election.) Nominations will be taken from the floor at the April and May meetings for the five officer and six at-large Board positions. As in previous years, nominations will be closed after the May meeting. The election will be held at the June regular meeting, and those elected will take office in July. If you would like to nominate someone to run, or would like to run yourself, please contact a me or be prepared to make a nomination from the floor at the April or May meeting. Only serious applicants need apply. The Board sponsors many activities on an ongoing basis, and it is the diligent effort of all the Board members that brings these activities to life. The Board runs primarily through the committee system. Most Board members serve on more than one committee, and many chair a committee. It is simply not possible for someone to serve on the Board without being an active member. If you have any questions about the governing process of KREIA please feel free to give me a call.
