MADEMOISELLE HOLMES, SEASON 2

It’s been great to see the surprise hit Mademoiselle Holmes find its audience, and fans are in luck as a new season is coming out this month! The delightful French mystery series follows Charlie Holmes — the greatgranddaughter of Sherlock Holmes — as she uses her inherited deductive brilliance to solve crimes. And yes, you probably recognize actress Lola Dewaere from her role as Raphaëlle in Astrid. If you’re missing that other beloved French mystery drama, this show is perfect for you. This season on Mademoiselle Holmes, Charlie tries to honor her heritage and Samy leaves forensic medicine, but of course they still encounter surprising cases and mysteries even as they shake things up. In French with English subtitles, Season 2 is exclusively available with KQED Passport starting Friday, April 10

SEEING THE EARTH THROUGH ARIEL’S LENS

KQED Presents and San Francisco-based explorer Ariel Waldman debut this new sixpart docuseries, Life Unearthed with Ariel Waldman. Focusing on Antarctica and the North American prairies, it reveals Earth’s ecosystems through radical shifts in scale, from microscopic wildlife to the planet’s most iconic animals. The series airs every Wednesday of this month and premieres on Wednesday, April 1, at 7:30pm on KQED 9 as well as the PBS App. And, if you’re wanting to see even more outstanding earth-centric shows (in observance of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22), look out for programs in this shade of brown starting on page 4.
