April 23, 2023 Pohnpei—Pohnpei native-born graduate of Pohnpei Islands Central School, and alumnus of the Pohnpei Upward Bound program, Augusto (Gus) Sarino was recently a participating member in the NATO Cyber Live-Fire exercise, “Locked Shields”. He says that though in the Information Technology (IT) realm, and especially the professional ethical hackers’ realm, there were other Micronesian participants from Guam and Saipan, he was the only one with an FSM, and specifically, Pohnpeian heritage.

He is a veteran of both Gulf Wars and also served in Afghanistan. While in the service, he was decorated with a Navy Commendation Medal and both a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
