Magnolia Grove is a historic Greek Revival mansion set on fifteen acres of southern magnolias in Greensboro, Alabama, being renovated into a family home and boutique bed and breakfast with an adjoining wedding and event venue. The project aims to preserve the estate’s architectural heritage while introducing fresh, welcoming elements that reflect the Whitmore family’s lifestyle and hospitality-driven vision. The renovation includes restoring the main residence for private family use, converting select rooms into guest suites, creating a dedicated floral workspace connected to the commercial kitchen for Eleanor Whitmore’s business, designing a bridal dressing room, and utilizing the outdoor barn and magnolia-canopied grounds for ceremonies and gatherings. Eleanor and William Whitmore, who recently relocated from Mobile, Alabama, have twin sons, Clayton and Henry, and are building a family-run business that blends Southern charm, nature, and thoughtful design. Eleanor’s passion for florals and layered, botanical aesthetics influences the playful yet refined character of Magnolia Grove, creating a warm, immersive experience for both family and guests.

Inspired by the art of intaglio, Magnolia Grove’s design captures history through intentional layers etched with care. TThis project is a renovation of a 47,853-squarefoot, four-story boutique hotel located along the Peloponnesian coast of Greece, commissioned by a leading hospitality group under the Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) brand. The scope includes the redesign of public and guest spaces within an existing hillside structure, with careful consideration given to accessibility, circulation, and local building code requirements. The project responds to the region’s competitive boutique hospitality market by prioritizing elevated guest experiences, thoughtful spatial planning, and a strong connection to place, while enhancing the functionality and flow of the existing building. Design decisions emphasize quality materials, curated furnishings, and a balance of contemporary luxury and traditional Greek hospitality, creating spaces that feel both refined and inviting. Sustainable strategies are integrated throughout the project, including energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, and the use of locally sourced materials, supporting long-term environmental responsibility while maintaining a high-end boutique experience.
C O N C E P T S T A T E M E N T :

Set along the Peloponnesian coast of Greece, this boutique hotel blends modern luxury with the timeless tradition of filoxenia. Elevated yet inviting, the interiors pair natural textures, bold accents, and artisanal details to create a refined, welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant, bar, and lounge act as lively gathering spaces centered on locally inspired cuisine and handcrafted cocktails offering guests an immersive experience rooted in Greek hospitality.

The design merges the coastal beauty of Peloponnese with the tradition of filoxenia through natural materials, bold accents, and artisanal details. Challenges included adapting the tiered hillside structure and maintaining ADA/IBC compliance, which were solved by thoughtful spatial planning and layered design elements. Research into Greek hospitality traditions and luxury design trends (Ching, 2018; Bierut, 2021) guided the creation of a refined yet welcoming atmosphere that offers guests an immersive experience.

This senior living and assisted-care community in historic Greenville, Tennessee, is a new construction, multi-story residential building designed to support independence, dignity, and meaningful connection. The project includes independent living apartments, a dedicated assisted living floor, and a first-floor intergenerational daycare center that encourages shared experiences between seniors and children. Organized around a neighborhood cluster model of 8–12 residents, the layout creates intimate, home-like pods centered around shared living and dining spaces while maintaining a clear hierarchy from public to private areas. Central common spaces including a living room, dining area, and library anchor the building and foster daily social interaction, while quieter zones allow residents to retreat and maintain privacy. With sweeping mountain views to the west, intuitive wayfinding, and thoughtfully separated service areas, the design balances safety and security with warmth and residential comfort, creating a community where residents can age with dignity while remaining connected to both one another and the greater Greenville community.

C O N C E P T S T A T E M E N T :

The Southern Charm design concept for this multigenerational facility is centered on creating an environment that fosters comfort, warmth, and connection across all ages. In the assisted living wing, the design blends elegance with coziness, incorporating a soothing green color palette, floral motifs, and natural materials to evoke the peaceful serenity of the Southern landscape. These elements promote relaxation and tranquility, offering residents a refined yet homelike atmosphere.
In the daycare wing, the same Southern Charm aesthetic is applied with playful, soft touches that cater to young children’s sense of wonder and security. Bright, gentle colors, nature-inspired patterns, and tactile materials create a nurturing space that encourages both learning and play while maintaining the warmth and welcoming feel of the overall design.
By harmonizing these spaces, we create a multigenerational environment that celebrates both the wisdom of age and the joy of youth, fostering a sense of community, comfort, and connection for all who call this space home.

Situated on 1,200 acres in the Pocono Mountains, Mountain Camp Retreat blends Scandinavian Hygge with universal accessibility to create a warm, inclusive sanctuary for multigenerational families. The main lodge, overlooking a scenic lake, serves as the heart of the retreat, featuring a flexible activity center for events, dining, and recreation. The second floor, accessible by stairs and an elevator, houses the camp office, conference room, and employee lounge. Surrounding the lodge, cozy cabins offer two bedrooms, sleeping lofts, efficiency kitchens, and open living spaces, designed for comfort and accessibility. Barrier-free pathways, wide doorways, roll-in showers, and adaptive layouts ensure an inclusive experience for all guests. In the off-season, the main lodge hosts banquets, conferences, and special events, making Mountain Camp Retreat a year-round destination for relaxation, connection, and natural beauty.

C O N C E P T S T A T E M E N T :
The design for the Pocono Mountain Camp Project is based upon the idea of Hygge, as exemplified by the people of Denmark. Hygge refers to the idea of home and comfort, and is the action of having minimal things, only things of importance, functionality, and meaning. This idea is appropriate because it reflects the owners Scandinavian roots, as it relates to the program as they aim to accommodate guests of multigenerational families. To express this idea, the plan is to shift our focus on creating a place of comfort and inviting glow to vacationers as they spend their time here in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. This idea is further reinforced by the use of materials through sustainable yet natural materials, a balance of minimalism meeting functionality, harmonious yet quiet textures, and natural lighting.

Located on the 65th floor of Lake Point Tower, this renovation transforms an outdated 1960s kitchen and modernizes the entire unit to create a sophisticated, functional living space.
The redesigned layout features three bedrooms, two and a half baths, a high-end living room, dining area, office, exercise space, and laundry area. Large windows and an open floor plan maximize breathtaking lake views, ensuring seamless transitions between spaces while making the scenery a focal point.
Strict building regulations require all materials and debris to be transported via a 6’x6’x8’ freight elevator, necessitating careful planning and scheduling.
With a focus on modern finishes, top-tier appliances, and thoughtful design, this renovation delivers a refined urban retreat, elevating the residents’ living experience in one of Chicago’s most iconic high-rises.

Inspired by the raw beauty of natural stone, this Chicago condominium renovation embraces a sophisticated yet bold design approach, with marble as the primary influence. A rich palette of gemstone hues, luxurious velvet textures, and Europeanpatterned mosaic tiles creates a dynamic and inviting atmosphere tailored for high-end living and seamless entertaining.
Advanced technology is seamlessly integrated into the space, featuring top-of-the-line Wolf Sub-Zero kitchen appliances and warming drawers to enhance the couple’s passion for hosting. Laya Verde polished mosaic tile flooring and a striking Gem Glass Emerald polished backsplash in the bar area introduce depth and elegance, complemented by open shelving for both function and display.
Custom architectural details, including intricate crown molding, corbels, and extensive built-in cabinetry, bring a timeless charm while maintaining a contemporary setting. Illuminated by Possini Euro Design Carlyn pendant lighting, the space achieves a harmonious blend of modern luxury and classic sophistication, creating the ultimate retreat for both everyday living and vibrant social gatherings.
