Our Services

Tuffkid Nursery

Families who begin their Kisharon Langdon journey at our award-winning Tuffkid Nursery discover a unique and inspirational learning environment. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted three times consecutively, Tuffkid offers a dynamic and integrated approach where mainstream children and children with learning disabilities play and grow together, developing a deep respect and understanding of each other.

Each child has their own tailored curriculum with an ambitious and stimulating range of activities designed to ignite their curiosity and challenge their abilities. From weekly dance sessions with our exceptional dance therapists, to using real hammers, saws and nails in woodwork; to regular

visits from Stanley, a volunteer’s beloved therapy dog, every day offers new and exciting experiences. And with the support and guidance of our highly trained professional and therapeutic team, every child can progress at their own pace and develop into courageous and confident learners.

Their development is also bolstered by the nursery’s specialist resources including a soft sensory room and ball pond, and a unique outdoor area with a vegetable plot, fishpond and large-scale play apparatus.

Tuffkid’s achievements are nationally recognised and we are continuously exploring ways to expand our offering, despite the nursery’s ever-growing waiting list.

Our Services Wohl Campus, Kisharon Noé School, a Loftus Learning Centre

At Kisharon Noé School on the Wohl Campus, every student is equipped with the tools to reach their potential. All pupils (aged 4-19) have moderate to severe learning disabilities and many have additional needs too, but this is a place where there are no barriers to progression.

The innovative curriculum is designed to inspire and challenge, while adapting to each child’s individual needs. With a focus on building independence and resilience, pupils participate in creative, cultural and sporting activities with the daily support of our speech, occupational, music, art and physiotherapists. The school’s Jewish ethos plays an integral role, woven into each subject to make the learning experience more meaningful.

Pupils also benefit immensely from the Wohl Campus’s state-of-the-art facilities which include a hydrotherapy pool, sensory stimulation room, trampoline room, Eco Hub, music therapy room and a brand new four-acre Forest School.

As pupils near the end of their school journey, a comprehensive careers programme introduces them to a range of career paths with work placements, taster sessions and mentoring.

The success of the school would not be possible without the partnerships between teachers, pupils and their families which ensure every child can thrive and lead active and fulfilling lives.

Our Services

Brady Youth

Navigating social lives is complex for any young person but especially so for those with learning disabilities or autism. At Brady Youth, they find a place where young people feel safe, supported and warmly welcomed.

The weekly club and holiday scheme for young Jewish people aged 6-24 offers a wide range of activities including sport, art, drama, dance and music. Our cooking classes are particularly popular and every activity is carefully planned to build key life skills and improve communication.

There are also regular excursions with each trip offering opportunities to develop independence with our members taking public transport, ordering food in restaurants, paying for items in shops, and interacting with members of the public.

Brady is the highlight of the week for so many of the young people we support. It is where they build lasting friendships, discover new passions and hobbies, feel increasingly secure in their local communities and connect with others through their Jewish roots and identity. As they move towards adulthood, these experiences give them confidence and self-belief on the road to greater independence.

Of all our services, Kisharon Langdon College is arguably on the greatest journey of transformation. Having recently appointed an ambitious new leadership team, we are investing significantly in the College - not least with plans for a purposebuilt facility alongside a new holistic curriculum and qualifications programme.

This time in our students’ lives is pivotal. They are starting to make decisions which can greatly impact their future, and we encourage them to explore multiple pathways which interest and inspire them. To facilitate their decision making, we work in partnership with employers and stakeholders to offer students a taste of career and study prospects

beyond college. From the intricacies of working in a solicitors’ office to the unpredictability of working at London Zoo, our students discover there are no limits on their future aspirations.

Along their journey, the College’s academic and therapeutic team nurtures each student’s unique potential, empowering them with the life skills to grow in independence. With workshops on healthy living, safeguarding, financial literacy and self-advocacy to name a few, our students grow socially and emotionally and graduate from college with the confidence to grasp opportunities and overcome challenges.

Our Services

Supported Living

Sometimes, the most meaningful journey is the one that takes you home.

Kisharon Langdon’s Supported Living service empowers over 160 people to live in a home they can call their own. Our managed flats and shared houses in the heart of London and Manchester’s Jewish communities are tailored to meet individual needs: from adapted bathrooms to automatic doors, adjustable tables, lifts and hoists. Privacy and independence are enjoyed whilst our specialist teams are on hand whenever needed.

The transition from the family home into supported living can be daunting, but our experienced team of

social workers ensure the transition is as smooth as possible. Many of our properties also have communal areas where people come together to relax or take part in activities and meals, especially on Shabbos and Jewish holidays, so they never feel isolated.

Our Supported Living service is in great demand and our waiting list is growing. We are committed to ensuring that every member of the Jewish learning disability and autism community can live as independently as possible and offering sufficient appropriate accommodation is at the forefront of our funding priorities.

I am so happy that I moved into my own home – I enjoy hanging out with my friends. It was the best decision to move!

Our Services Day Opportunities

At Kisharon Langdon, we want every day to be a good day, which is why we empower people we support to build bespoke schedules tailored to their needs, interests, and aspirations.

At Maccabi House in London and The Hive in Manchester, a busy and diverse schedule is on offer ranging from gardening projects to book clubs, yoga sessions to enterprise classes. There are also monthly Friday night dinners which regularly draw over 70 people to share the spirit of bringing in Shabbos.

As much as possible, we encourage and organise experiences out in the community. Whether it is a cycling tour, restaurant visit or theatre trip, every excursion is an opportunity for people we support to

grow in confidence and independence.

For those who wish to achieve personal and professional goals, we offer both voluntary and paid projects through our Social Enterprises and run personal development courses in food safety, personal hygiene, financial coaching and online safety - all designed to build resilience and develop personal safety skills.

Especially rewarding is our community outreach programme where people we support engage in charitable projects including Mitzvah Day. These initiatives afford participants a real sense of worth, highlighting their valuable contribution to their local community and beyond.

They comprise of our unique Gift and Homeware Store ‘Equal’ in Temple Fortune; our popular Bike Shop in Hendon; our partnership library in Childs Hill; and our online second-hand book business, New Chapters, in Harrow.

Through a range of training and employment opportunities, each enterprise equips people with key practical skills and develops their understanding

of retail and e-commerce. Valuable insight is gained into workplace expectations such as punctuality, accountability and adaptability. Everyone is encouraged to participate in all aspects of running the business and as a result, many gain the confidence to explore job opportunities outside of Kisharon Langdon.

Our

Services

Employment Programme

For people we support, employment is about far more than just ‘a job’. It’s a reason to wake up in the morning, connect with others and feel valued by their community. The challenge is finding an employer willing to offer meaningful opportunities, but thanks to generous funding from Wohl Legacy, Kisharon Langdon has established the Wohl Employability Programme, a groundbreaking initiative offering clear pathways into paid and voluntary roles.

Our employment team works with candidates to recognise their strengths, understand their passions and aspirations, fill gaps in their skills training and identify suitable opportunities. Once ready to apply for jobs, each person receives support with

applications and interview training and is allocated a mentor who guides them and acts as a constant source of support.

One of the key reasons for the programme’s huge success is the partnerships built with a wealth of employers. These strong bonds ensure that people we support secure sustainable, meaningful employment where diversity and inclusiveness are celebrated. Our current employers range from fivestar hotels to law and media firms to community organisations. Every employer who joins our programme takes us one step closer to securing equal opportunities for the learning disability and autism community.

Our Services

Volunteering

Volunteers play a vital role at Kisharon Langdon, supporting our mission to help people with learning disabilities and autistic people live meaningful, independent lives. Without their time, dedication and kindness, much of our work simply would not be possible. Volunteers help create a more inclusive community, offering practical assistance, friendship and a sense of belonging to the people we support.

Our volunteering programme is diverse, with roles that reflect the range of services we offer. Some volunteers work directly with individuals in our Supported Living homes, helping with everyday tasks and promoting independence, while others contribute by mentoring individuals in our Employment Support programme or sharing their skillset in cookery, woodwork, gardening or modern languages.

In addition to these frontline roles, we also have volunteers who assist with administrative tasks and fundraising activities, ensuring that our services continue to run smoothly and reach as many people as possible. Each role, no matter how big or small, is essential to the success of Kisharon Langdon and has a real impact on the lives of the people we support.

Volunteering not only enhances the lives of the individuals we work with but also strengthens the wider community by promoting inclusion and understanding. It’s a key part of how we deliver our services and build a brighter future for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.

The Vital Role of Fundraising

Kisharon Langdon’s work would not be possible without the generosity of our donors. From all of our donors to those who participate in fundraising challenges or attend our events, every contribution makes a difference. Gifts in Wills also play a crucial role, providing a lasting legacy that helps us secure the future of our services for generations to come. This network of dedicated supporters enables us to provide life-changing opportunities for the people we support.

Fundraising is the critical component in how we bridge the £4.5m shortfall that exists between the

£24m cost of running the organisation and the income and fees received from local authorities and the families we support. In fact, many of our crucial services receive no local authority or government funding at all. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to offer truly personalised care, specialist equipment, innovative programmes and the opportunity for individuals with learning disabilities and autistic people to lead fulfilling and independent lives.
