Kingswood College Middle School welcomes students in Years 7 to 9 at one of the most transformative stages of their development. As students transition from out of the Junior School, Middle School marks the beginning of an exhilarating new chapter — one filled with discovery, growth, and opportunity.
In Middle School, students are encouraged to explore and refine their passions, whether in Sport, Art, Sciences, Music, Languages, Humanities, Mathematics, or Performing Arts, while developing the leadership qualities and personal goals that will shape their future. Building on the foundations of their earlier years, Middle School students are challenged and inspired through a range of enrichment programs designed to broaden their horizons. The Year 7 curriculum is delivered in accordance with the Victorian Curriculum Foundation to 10 priorities and standards, providing a structured and nationally recognised framework for learning.
Kingswood College Senior School is a dynamic and purposeful learning environment where young adults in Years 10 to 12 prepare to make their mark on the world.
With a curriculum grounded in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS), students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently pursue their path ahead.
Senior students are empowered to take ownership of their future, making meaningful decisions about their career direction with the support of wellbeing and classroom teachers, a dedicated careers counsellor, and the encouragement of peers and family.
Designed to reflect a pre-tertiary experience, the Senior School learning space features its own kitchen facilities, tutorial rooms, and private study areas, alongside a central hub for collaboration and socialising. With m ore than 30 subjects available across VCE and VETiS programs, Kingswood College offers the breadth and depth of curriculum to suit every student's ambitions and interests.
Kingswood College operates under the legislative framework which comprises of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the standards of the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code 2018).
The ESOS Act is the principal Australian government legislation governing international student education in Australia. The Department of Education administers the ESOS Act. The National Code 2018 provides nationally consistent standards and procedures for registered providers and the registration of their course. These standards set out specifications and procedures to ensure that providers of international education and training courses can clearly understand and comply with their obligations under the National Code.
Kingswood College is required to ensure that international students are provided with relevant provisions of the ESOS framework throughout the span of the student’s enrolment.

Kingswood College is a listed provider on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS Provider No. 00150G) to provide schooling to international students in Australia at the Secondary level (Years 7-12)(CRICOS Course Code: 011348C) and primary level (Prep to Year 6)(CRICOS Course Code: 001105E).
To be considered for enrolment applicants are required to demonstrate:
An English as an Additional Language (EAL) standard (as assessed to the Victorian Curriculum standards) appropriate to the applicant’s age. (For example, an applicant for Year 9 must have an EAL standard of C3.1 or above); or
An EAL standard below the applicant’s expected level (for example, an applicant for Year 9 having an EAL standard below C3.1) and minimum academic achievement equivalent to above standard.
Applicants can demonstrate their English language proficiency by providing evidence of achievement of one of the following results.
All applicants will also be required to attend an interview with a College staff member.
If required, international students undertake study of the subject EAL to provide them with the necessary support and assistance to improve their understanding, comprehension and English-speaking skills.
To support the welfare of our international students the College offers an orientation program when students first arrive at the College. Parents are encouraged to attend the orientation program if they are in Australia at the time.
Where a student is not accompanied by a parent and the College holds a CAAW College staff member will be assigned as their local support person for the time they attend the College. These students will also be provided with:

Information about using Melbourne public transport service, including how to get to and from the College and using public transport.
The College has counselling and support services located on Campus. We can also provide international students with access to bilingual counselling and support services as necessary.
Parents of international students will be contacted at the end of each semester to provide an overview of general performance of their child’s progress at the school. Parents may contact the International Student Program staff members who oversees international students, at any time by phone or email for up to date information about their child’s progress.
All international students will be assigned to a wellbeing coordinator who monitors the students ongoing performance and wellbeing.
Of equal importance to the academic program at Kingswood College is the International Wellbeing Program – with its varied themes interweaving across the different sections of the College. As student progress through the College into the middle and senior years, they attend dedicated conferences and programs that facilitate deeper and more meaningful ideas and connections around personal and social wellbeing.
Kingswood College offers a range of tutoring and mentoring programs held in the library after school, open to all international students. Led by Kingswood College graduates, the program provides personalised academic support in a welcoming and familiar environment, giving students greater opportunity to deepen their understanding, build confidence, and achieve their personal best.
International students will be required to comply with all conditions of their student visa. These include:
Maintaining satisfactory attendance in your course as required by Kingswood College (being an attendance of at least 90%).
Not being disruptive while in Australia.
Ensure that the College can contact the student if they’re absent from school.
Live at the Homestay address approved by Kingswood College.

Under the requirements of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) all student visa applicants will be required to undertake a health check to satisfy specific health requirements.
Overseas Student Health cover is required for each student for the duration of their course of study. Students are required to have Overseas Health cover for the entire period of their enrolment.
The College will organise and place international students in school approved Homestay accommodation starting from Year 10, in accordance with the National Code 2018 and Victorian Child Safe Standards.
Kingswood College issues the Confirmation of Approved Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) letter to an international student accepting the responsibility for approving the accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements for a student who is under the age of 18, the school will not delegate, outsource or contract out that responsibility to another party.
Kingswood College strictly adheres to the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) Guidelines and, as such, will not place an international student from below the age of 13 in Homestay accommodation.
It is also our College policy that no student under Year 10 will be placed in Homestay accommodation. However, Kingswood College may consider students younger than 13 years of age for enrolment, but such students must reside with a Department of Home Affairs (DHA) approved parents or relative.
Where Kingswood College enrols a student who is under 18 years of age, it will meet the Victorian Child Safe Standards requirements relating to child welfare and protection. Kingswood College will ensure students under 18 years of age are given contact information in emergency situations, including:
The 24 hour emergency contact number of the International Student Coordinator and another staff member of the College.
Seeking assistance and reporting any incident or allegation involving actual or alleged sexual, physical and other abuse.
If students or parents have any concerns about the safety of a child, or suspect that a child is being abused, they must report it immediately to the International Student Coordinator.

For international students residing in approved Homestay accommodation, the College ensures all adult Homestay family members have a Working With Children Check, are trained in and have read and agree to abide by Kingswood College Child Safe Policies. The College has an appropriate process for recruiting and screening Homestay families, including an in-person interview with adult host family members residing permanently in the home.
The International Student Coordinator and another member staff of the College will verify, in person, by visiting the premises, that the student’s accommodation is appropriate to the student’s age and needs prior to the accommodation being approved, and at least every six months thereafter.
A Homestay home must:
Provide a safe, secure, private bedroom for the student’s sole use with suitable storage space for clothes, personal effects and study materials, and suitable facilities including a desk, a chair and adequate lighting for study purposes.
Be clean and have appropriate furnishings suitable for a family and the students.
Provide access to a shared or private bathroom, with reasonable time allowed for showers.
Provide access to kitchen, living areas, laundry facilities and shared areas of the home.
Have some form of heating in winter if required and some means of cooling in summer.
Provide student with any keys, alarms or passwords required to have free access to the homestay residence.
Provide College staff with the ability to conduct assessments of the Homestay. This includes access to all areas of the Homestay premises for the purposes of checking compliance with the Homestay standards required by Kingswood College.
All stakeholders can contact International Student Coordinator via the 24 emergency number in the event of an emergency.
Where Kingswood College enrols an international student who will reside in the care of close family relatives approved by the Department of Immigration, the College will meet with the nominated relative in person and provide the relevant information about the College, including any obligations of parents/guardians of enrolled students.
The College monitors students who are placed in Homestay accommodation and maintains regular contact with the accommodation providers to ensure the student’s successful adjustment to life and study in Melbourne, Australia.
Kingswood College is required by law to conduct site inspections every six months to ensure that student needs are being met. This requirement is in addition to any reviews that may be conducted by a Homestay referral service.
Kingswood College reserves the right to move a student in the event that either a student or Homestay host does not conform to the Kingswood College Student Accommodation and Welfare Arrangements Policy and Procedures. Refer to the College website for a copy of this policy.

School camps are always a highlight of the Kingswood College calendar and one of the best opportunities for personal growth outside the classroom.
Offering students the change to build resilience, confidence and self-belief that carries into every area of life. Camps at Kingswood, are are also where some of the deepest friendships are formed. Sharing meals, and experiences over a few days creates bonds that are hard to replicate in a regular school setting. For international students, this sense of connection and belonging is especially valuable.
Beyond resilience and friendship, camps develop teamwork, independence, and a genuine appreciation for the outdoors. They are fun, memorable, and an important part of the Kingswood journey.
During term 1, our Year 7 students embark on their first secondary school camp. Located in Warburton (an hour from our Box Hill campus), the Year 7 camp provides an students the opportunity to be involved with a range of activities.
Immersed in the beauty of nature, students connect with land and culture, learn about our indigenous history, local economy, the unique biodiversity of our sub-alpine region, and uncover new adventures such as mountain biking, river sledding and camping.
This camp helps students to build transferable skills, nurture inquiry skills, boost confidence and resilience, collaborate with peers and make life long friendships.
During term 1, our Year 8 students embark on a three night camp to the world renowned national park, Wilsons Promontory . Located three hours from our Box Hill campus, the students have the opportunity to explore one of three different adventures for their time on camp. Each bringing their own unique experiences, these adventures range in difficulty levels and challenge.
The Tasmania Experience is a 5-day experiential learning program designed for Year 9 students at Kingswood College, crafted in partnership with Infuse Travel. Taking place in Term 1, the program immerses students in Tasmania’s breath taking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and critical environmental ecosystems. It combines outdoor education, service learning, and personal development in a meaningful and adventurous setting.
The itinerary includes visits to iconic locations such as Port Arthur Historic Site, Freycinet National Park, and Bicheno’s wildlife ecology park. Activities range from sea kayaking and hiking to community service projects, with groups rotating through different experiences across the state. Students will engage with Indigenous histories, witness conservation efforts first hand, and explore Tasmania’s geological and ecological wonders.
The program is carefully structured to support learning in both formal and informal contexts, encouraging resilience, reflection, and teamwork. It includes full logistics, accommodation, flights, and staffing by both teachers and experienced Infuse leaders.
The Service Experience is a week-long program dedicated to connecting Year 9 students with their broader community through meaningful acts of service. At a stage of adolescence where self is naturally front of mind, the program offers a purposeful counterbalance encouraging students to look outward, embrace the joy of giving, and discover the profound benefits of helping others. Based in Melbourne, students participate in a variety of service learning experiences that challenge them to step outside their comfort zone, show initiative, and practise deep kindness.
The City Cite program is a dynamic experiential learning program designed to meet the developmental needs of Year 9 students. Set in the Melbourne CBD, students work in small teams to complete individual and collaborative research tasks, visiting a range of interesting locations while developing independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills. With an emphasis on teamwork, responsibility, and working under pressure, the program acts as a circuit breaker from routine schooling — engaging students in an active, hands-on way that reflects how adolescents think and learn.
The program culminates in a Presentation Evening, where students have the opportunity to showcase the knowledge and experiences gained throughout the program.
Run in Term 4, The Kingswood College VCE Camp is a residential program held in Grantville, designed to prepare Year 10 students for the challenges and opportunities of senior school. Students participate in workshops exploring study expectations, planning strategies, and wellbeing — all framed through Kingswood College's core values of perseverance and excellence.
Outdoor activities including high ropes, canoeing, and surfing challenge students to demonstrate courage, teamwork, and resilience, while shared evening activities foster the connections and community spirit that underpin a successful senior school experience. The VCE Camp is more than an introduction to senior study — it is an opportunity for students to bond with peers and staff, and approach the road ahead with confidence and purpose.
The Audio-Visual (AV) Crew offers gifted students a unique opportunity to develop technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a hands-on learning environment. Through involvement in video production, sound design, lighting, and editing, students gain practical experience while enhancing their communication and teamwork abilities. It fosters critical thinking by encouraging students to apply innovative solutions to real-world media challenges, preparing them for future studies or careers in media, film, and digital production. With opportunities to work on school events, broadcasts, and creative projects, the AV Club provides an engaging space where gifted students can refine their skills, collaborate with peers, and explore their passion for media and technology.
The Chess Club provides students with a stimulating and supportive environment to develop strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and resilience. Through structured learning, friendly matches, and competitive play, students enhance their concentration, decision-making, and logical reasoning abilities.
The club caters to all skill levels, offering training workshops, in-school tournaments, and opportunities to compete against other schools. Beyond the game, students build confidence, patience, and sportsmanship while engaging with like-minded peers. Whether playing for fun or striving for competition, the Chess Club fosters intellectual growth and a love for lifelong learning
The Chinese/English Conversation Club offers students a fun and interactive way to enhance their language skills while making new friends. Through casual conversations in both Chinese and English, students gain confidence in speaking and listening, improving their fluency and cultural understanding. The club also includes hands-on activities such as lantern making and calligraphy, giving students the chance to explore Chinese traditions in a creative and engaging way.
The Debating Club challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively, and defend their ideas with confidence. By engaging in structured debates, students learn to research complex topics, construct persuasive arguments, and respond to opposing views with clarity and logic.
The club nurtures confidence in public speaking, quick thinking, and teamwork while fostering respectful discussion and active listening. With opportunities to compete in both internal and external competitions, students refine their ability to analyse issues from multiple perspectives and develop strong leadership and advocacy skills.
The E-sports Club provides students with an exciting and supportive environment to develop teamwork, strategic thinking, and hand-eye coordination through competitive gaming. By participating in training sessions and inschool competitions, students improve their skills in various games, learn how to analyse and adapt their strategies, and collaborate effectively with teammates. The club fosters resilience, communication and focus.
The Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) Team offers students a unique opportunity to engage in the design, construction, and racing of vehicles powered solely by human effort. This hands-on experience fosters teamwork, innovation, and practical engineering skills.
Students collaborate to create efficient, aerodynamic vehicles, applying principles of physics and engineering in real-world scenarios. Participation in events such as the Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough, Victoria, allows students to test their creations in competitive settings, promoting resilience and problem-solving abilities. Through these activities, students gain valuable insights into sustainable transportation and renewable energy technologies, preparing them for future studies and careers in engineering, design, and environmental sciences. The InterACT Club is a vibrant community where students come together to make a meaningful impact through service and social activities.
Open to all students, regardless of the size of their contributions, the club organises a variety of events throughout the year, including Food Drives, Donation Drives, Bake Sales, Harmony Day events, and Christmas Card Deliveries, all in support of local, national, and international charities. By participating, students develop leadership skills, foster a sense of global citizenship, and build lasting friendships with peers who share a commitment to service. The club’s enthusiastic members warmly welcome newcomers, ensuring a supportive and engaging environment for all.
The Model United Nations (MUN) Club offers students a unique and enriching opportunity to engage with global issues and international diplomacy. Through participation, students develop a strong understanding of the workings of the United Nations and the complexities of international relations. They can take on the role of a delegate, actively engaging in debates and negotiations, or contribute as part of the research and background team, helping to craft speeches and brainstorm ideas. MUN encourages the development of critical life skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and problem solving, all while fostering global awareness and empathy. This experience provides valuable insight into global affairs, preparing students for future careers in politics, law, and diplomacy.
The Pride Club provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students to celebrate their identities, foster self-acceptance, and build strong connections with others. This club focuses on promoting understanding and respect for all members of the LGBTQ+ community, encouraging open dialogue, and creating opportunities for students to learn about diversity, equality, and inclusion. By participating, students not only gain confidence and advocacy skills but also become part of a community that celebrates individuality and supports one another.
The Year 7 and 8 Science Club offers students an engaging and interactive environment to explore their curiosity and develop essential scientific skills. Students will have the chance to investigate scientific concepts, and design and construct projects, all while deepening their understanding of science. The club provides a fun, supportive space for students to grow their problem solving abilities and work collaboratively with peers. With a focus on exploration and discovery, the Science Club fosters a love for learning.
The Tabletop Role Play Club offers students a structured and engaging environment to develop a range of skills through the creative world of tabletop role-playing games (RPGs), such as Dungeons & Dragons. By participating, students enhance their storytelling abilities, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills as they work together to navigate complex scenarios and challenges.

The Kingswood College Music Program has three streams: Classroom Music, Instrumental Music Tuition, and Ensembles.
Our classroom music program runs from ELC to Year 12. The Year 7 program has all students learning a new instrument, participating in an ensemble, studying music theory, and exploring music's role in society. Elective performance subjects are available in Years 8 and 9, while Year 10 Music prepares students for VCE. VCE offerings include Music Performance (Repertoire and Contemporary). All Senior Music studies involve assessed public performances.
Kingswood offers personalised instrumental tuition to complement classroom and ensemble learning. Students of any age may apply, and our teachers can advise on instrument selection. Lessons generally occur during class time on a rotating timetable, minimising repeated absences from any one subject. VCE students and those learning multiple instruments receive priority for out-ofclass lesson times. Junior School students are collected by their teacher; Years 7–12 students attend independently. Timetables are published on Compass and displayed on the touchscreen in the Music foyer. To enrol, parents should complete the online application form via the Instrumental Music Tuition Handbook on Compass.

Ensembles perform throughout the year at events including the Showcase concert, Choral Spectacular, Arts Week lunchtime concerts, Junior School Soirées, and the Secondary Lunchtime Concert Series. An auditioned Tenor and Bass choir, open to all tenors and basses in the College community, singing in four parts. Named by its members after the ensemble's Director, Tom Buchanan.
An auditioned ensemble for the College's four most experienced string players, performing at school and external events. Rehearses weekly.

Formed in 2024, this ensemble introduces Junior School students to rock band construction and styles, led by Mr Hopkins.
Year 7 Band
A large ensemble (~60 members) for Year 7 students learning an instrument for the first time, performing twice yearly.
Concert Band
A brass, woodwind, and percussion ensemble reestablished in 2026, performing diverse styles.
Jazz Combo
Introduced in 2023 to explore the jazz tradition. A flexible ensemble suited to varying instrument combinations, with several College performances and recordings to its name.
Rock Band
College Rock Band Features talented students exploring a broad range of rock styles, with guidance from experienced professional artists.

A termly State Government Levy of $875 per student will be applied.
LOCAL SUPPORT FEE:
A fee of $3,450 is payable for the local support service. This is a comprehensive service that assists international and EAL students at the College with their day-to-day wellbeing, welfare, social and academic progress, transportation to the airport and key events, and provides bilingual assistance to communicate with students, parents and teachers.

To overcome the need for students to bring cash to the College and to reduce numerous extras being billed to accounts, a consolidated charge is levied to cover items including annual camps, excursions, sports buses and the sport program, locker padlocks, outdoor education programs (Years 7 - 10), Hoodie (Year 12), visiting lecturers and artists, student accident insurance and special programs at various year levels. The consolidated charge also covers the provision of ICT resources to students.
Annual tuition fees and consolidated charges do not include accommodation, uniforms, books and stationery, extra private lessons, medical expenses, Medicare levy or travelling costs.
Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are required to pay VCE exam entry fees. This is not a payment to the College but is collected on behalf of each student for payment to the Board of Studies who co-ordinate VCE exams. This amount will be added to the account in addition to the above schedule of fees.
Upon acceptance of a place at Kingswood College, payment for the first instalment of fees (half of total annual fees) is required.
(i) Fees in Advance
Parents may elect to pay fees annually in advance and receive a 3% discount off the Total Annual Fees shown on this schedule. Payment must be received by the College no later than Friday 24 October 2025 5.00pm to be eligible for this discount.
