From author talks and social catch-ups to nature walks, craft, fitness, movies, live music, dancing and games, there really is something for everyone. You can also find information sessions on retirement, aged care and local services to help you stay connected and informed. But the Seniors Festival is about more than what’s on the program. It’s about people. Our older residents bring so much to Kingston through their knowledge, experience, stories, friendships and contributions to our community. The festival is a chance to celebrate that, while creating opportunities to connect with others and make new friends. We know that staying socially connected is an important part of living a happy and healthy life. Sometimes it can be as simple as sharing a coffee, joining a group, learning something new or having a chat with someone you haven’t met before. I encourage you to take a look through the program, find something that catches your eye and give it a go. You might discover a new interest, meet someone new or simply enjoy a great day out with friends. My thanks to everyone across Council, our community centres, local organisations, groups and volunteers who help bring the Seniors Festival to life each year. I hope you have a wonderful October, and plenty of opportunities to connect, create and celebrate.
