CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND WRAPAROUND CARE
Co-curricular activities are vital to the broad and balanced education we offer at King’s House School, and they complement the central work done in the classroom. Music, sport and drama all play an integral part in the pupils’ lives, both within the curriculum and beyond. Co-curricular activities change on a termly basis, and we welcome feedback to ensure that we are providing a well-rounded programme. This booklet has been created to provide parents with further information about clubs that need to be booked, and to help you plan in advance. You can also find information on our Wraparound Care including both Early Birds and Homework Club which are run internally, as well as our After-School Care which is managed internally for the Nursery, and externally by Après-School for the Junior and Senior Departments. WRAPAROUND CARE King’s House offers extensive wraparound care provision, managed internally and in collaboration with Après-School, an Ofstedregistered wraparound care provider. Nursery Early Birds runs from 8.00 - 8.40am, Junior Department Early Birds runs from 8.00 8.30am, and pupils in the SD are supervised in the playground from 8am. ASC runs for Hedgehogs, Squirrels and Rabbits in the Nursery until 5.30pm by our Nursery staff. ASC runs for Reception – Year 3 until 6.00pm in
the Junior Department by Après-School. Homework Club runs in the Senior Department until 5pm. After Homework Club finishes at 5pm, these pupils can join after-school care in the Junior Department and will be walked down by a member of staff. Après-School offer a sibling discount of 10% when both children attend ASC. Children in Year 4, who are waiting for older siblings to finish, may stay supervised onsite until 4.00pm free of charge. How do I make a booking? Bookings for Early Birds and SD Homework Club are made through MySchoolPortal. ASC bookings are made via the pre-booked termly option or ad-hoc on MySchoolPortal for Nursery, and through Après-School’s website for the Junior and Senior Departments: www.apres-school.co.uk Please make sure to register with Après-School to avoid paying higher non-member charges for each session. Après-School requires at least 24 hour notice when cancelling sessions. Credit for cancellations will be applied to your account. To cancel a booking, simply log in to your account, go to the “Bookings” menu, and select the specific booking you wish to cancel. Then, click on “Amend Dates” and fill out the form, 4
ensuring you select the correct dates, session, and child. However, sessions can be booked up to the very last minute before a session begins.
How are fees paid? Nursery and JD Early Birds, SD Homework Club and Nursery ASC are added onto your termly bill. Après-School ASC bookings can be paid monthly or termly by booking sessions via the Après-School website. As an Ofsted-registered provider, Après-School are able to accept Childcare Vouchers and participate in the TaxFree Childcare scheme. A one time registration fee of £10 applies, and this covers admin costs associated with set up. Please register to avoid paying higher session costs.

How do I register for activities? All co-curricular clubs are booked through School Portal..
Do I need to register with My School Por and external providers? Yes. My School Portal (MSP) should be us to register for clubs, and providers use it the master register. You must have a place booked on MSP to attend a club.

Do you operate waitlists? We don’t usually operate waitlists, clubs a booked on a first come first served basis.
Can I join or leave a club half way through term? If there is availability you can join a club af the club has started. Please contact Nick C if you would like to join a club after bookin has closed.
Parents cannot withdraw their child from a club mid-way through the term. Please con Nick Clark if you would like to change any clubs bookings. You may be liable to pay f the full terms fees.
Parents/carers can make changes to book directly on MSP until the bookings window closes.

Fees How are clubs paid for? The fee is added to your termly bill in arrears for school organised clubs. For external run clubs, you must register and pay the external provider directly, details of which are on MSP. After-School Care is billed directly via Apres-School. Why do some clubs have a fee whilst others are free of charge? Clubs are delivered by a combination of school staff and external providers. Most after school clubs now have a cost, aimed at improving the quality, consistency and variety of clubs. Morning music and lunchtime clubs continue free of charge. Are prices inclusive of VAT? Yes, if applicable all prices are inclusive of VAT. Under the Government’s VAT guidance to private schools, extra-curricular clubs which are educational in nature have been subject to VAT at 20% since 1 January 2025. Please note that wraparound care is exempt from VAT.

What is Bake and Play? Bake and Play is a fun and educational program designed for children to explore the world of cooking and baking in a safe and nurturing environment. Our club aims to inspire children to develop a love for cooking, learn new culinary skills, and create delicious treats. Each week children have a hands on cooking experience, taking home a new creation to share with their families and creating a wide range of delicious recipes.

What is Jam Coding? Jam Coding involves learning how to programme computers and understanding computing language.
What is M:Tech? M:Tech is music theory combined with the latest creative composition technologies to allow children to explore their very own musical ideas alongside engaging multimedia projects. What is Musical Theatre Club? Children will be practicing singing, dancing, acting and games each session, leading up to a show at the end of the Spring Term that parents can watch! What is Picassos in the Park? Picassos in the Park art classes comes to Kings House School this Autumn! Your child can expect a term full of creativity and fun, learning from the masters of art, each week looking at a new artist for inspiration, using a variety of artists materials, aiming to broaden their visual perceptions and learn new techniques.” What is Project Management Club? Project Management is a club designed to help young people understand and use the principles/ concepts of Project Management, benefiting both theirpersonal and academic journeys, whilst alsopreparing them for the future, beyond education. When specific equipment is required, this should be stated under the club information.

MY SCHOOL PORTAL King’s House uses My School Portal (MSP) to manage clubs and KHS provided wraparound care. Bookings for these can be made and managed through the My School Portal website, or app which you can install on your Apple or Android device. The co-curricular section enables parents to book clubs and wraparound care and staff to check which activities pupils are booked into, and to take registers for class management and billing. To create an account on My School Portal, go to the following link and click ‘Forgot Password’, enter your email address (this needs to match the address on our records) and you will receive a password reset link. https://king-s-house-school.myschoolportal.co.uk/login If you have already registered you will be able to log in above.
