MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Celebrating ‘The Best by Every Child’, welcome to Kings' School Nad Al Sheba's second edition of 'The Book'. A timestamped celebration of a milestone year for Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba; the founding year for our Secondary School, and the start of a new chapter in education at our wonderful campus. This year has been witness to so many memorable events and learning experiences, in school, and beyond. It was indeed a privilege to honour the achievement, importance and significance of ‘Foundations’ as we also celebrate the Jubilee year since the foundation of the United Arab Emirates; the learning, understanding and experiences that our whole school community have been a part of, are very special indeed, continue to form part of a legacy, one that can be recorded and revisited for many years to come. Preparation for the year of celebration of ‘Foundations’ began with Project 50/50; recognising the unique spirit of the United Arab Emirates, through the community of Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba. Reflecting and

commemorating the history, culture and achievements of the United Arab Emirates, its leaders and its people over the past fifty years. This unique project has truly embraced the success of the nation, and raised awareness of the importance of schools to prepare students for life in the next fifty years, as part of the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This year has seen enterprise, innovation and creativity, with everything underpinned by the school’s core values of kindness, skills, never giving up, ambition and success. We have truly understood that we may not be able to change the world alone, however, together, and as a community we are empowered to make small changes towards a future that shines for many generations to come. We celebrate together all that has been achieved this year, and continue to commit fully to a school that never stops striving, with an ambition and passion for learning. MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY HEADTEACHER The highlight of my day is welcoming students as they skip through the gates each morning, the eager anticipation of the day ahead written across their faces. Whether it's a PE activity they are looking forward to, a practical science lesson, a performance, or they have something in their bag they cannot wait to share with their class, it is a joy to see. I am proud of what we have achieved this year with our talented team of teachers, who continue to plan and design those magical moments that keep students skipping through our gates - the rich learning opportunities that immerse students in their learning and give life to new and exciting experiences. From our Platinum Jubilee garden party to the KSNAS Litfest, our students never fail to astonish. This year, we welcomed the return of our much-loved sports days, made special by haing our families back on campus to share these moments with us. The return of competitive

sports saw our Aspiring Athletes return home with no fewer than 6 gold medals from the DASSA Athletic Championships. The list of student achievements continues to grow and stretch right across the curriculum, our students really are a credit to us. As educators, we understand the tremendous positive impact that educational visits and residentials have on student development, and were thrilled to offer these opportunities once again. Students demonstrated bravery, tenacity, and kindness while trying new experiences, and created amazing memories and friendships along the way. Complemented by our extensive extracurricular provision, which has been richer than ever with over 40 unique opportunities, students have been spoilt for choice, with something for every interest, talent, and ability. PRIMARY JUNIOR LEADERSHIP MESSAGE With full confidence, I can say that Year 6 was one of my favourite years at school. I was so proud to be Head Girl and to influence people to do the right thing and be the best they can be. This year, I loved International Day, where we appreciated all of the countries around the world. It was so special to celebrate with all my friends at school. It has been truly incredible to take part in a so many art activities this year. Art allows you to express your creativity and

I love that I have had so many opportunities to do this at Kings’. One of the best things about Kings' is definitely the teachers. They all teach in a unique way that makes it fun for us to learn. PRIMARY JUNIOR LEADERSHIP MESSAGE It has truly been a wonderful year to serve as Head Boy at Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba. I can’t believe we have reached the end of Year 6. This year, the residential trip to Ras Al Khaimah was a highlight for me. We got to try different activities and collaborate on really challenging tasks. Having our teachers and friends on this trip made it extra fun. We were also very lucky to visit EXPO and to see so many of the pavilions.

I am going to miss all of the kind people here at Kings’. I am grateful for the wonderful caring teachers and leadership team we have. SECONDARY JUNIOR LEADERSHIP MESSAGE It has been an amazing experience to be the first ever Secondary Head Girl at Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba. The year has flown by. One thing that I have loved this year is that our positive experiences at school are never limited to only our classrooms. There are numerous opportunities to showcase our skills and to learn new hobbies and talents through our extracurricular programme and the many competitions inside and out of school. The teachers always encourage us to be leaders and to participate in group activities. My own experiences, especially the BSME dance competition, and my time at Kings’ has been really exciting and I hope that those

joining us next year will have just as much fun! The Kings’ values are evident across all parts of school life and add an extra dimension to our development into future leaders of society. We are always expected to contribute to the atmosphere of kindness and tolerance. This year, through our student leadership positions, we have helped develop the vision of Secondary. We incorporate the values both inside and outside of school and this helps us to place our experiences into context. DUBAI 30X30 FITNESS CHALLENGE The Dubai Fitness Challenge is an annual celebration of fitness and wellness The challenge is now in its fifth year and our students were eager to get stuck in! We hosted the Ultimate Warrior House Event with a range of exciting obstacle courses to challenge our students' fitness as well as

HOUSE ATHLETICS WEEK After two long years, our incredible house sports days returned to the sports field in Term 2. It was fantastic to see students dress up in their house colours and try their very best to earn as many house points as possible, demonstrating all of the KSNAS values: Kindness, Skills, Never Giving Up, Ambition and Success. The sports days were split across four different events. First up were our Year 1 and 2 students, who completed a carousel of team-building activities before finishing with 50m sprint races. The winning house for this event was - Windsor. Next up were Year 3, 4 and Elevate classes, who competed in their first house athletics

competition after practicing so hard in their PE lessons. All students performed excellently and we saw 5 school records broken! The winning house for this event was again... Windsor. Our older students from Years 5 to 8 competed in a House Athletics Competition, which was extremely competitive across the boys' and the girls' groups. There were an incredible 15 school records broken and an amazing atmosphere throughout. The winning house for this event was... Tudor. FS students enjoyed a pirate-themed sports day, which saw students complete running, jumping, and throwing challenges to become fully-fledged pirates.

During the term, students were met and learnt from five artists and explored prints, portraits, and paintings. Their exemplary final piece was a self-portrait reflection, which aimed to highlight elements of their character through their art.

BSME DANCE EVENT Our Kings' Dance Group took part in the British Schools Middle East Dance Competition once again this year. The theme was 'Art in Motion'. The group used 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' by Hokusai as their inspiration and enjoyed bringing the painting to life by exploring the movement of the wave and water through their dancing, choreography, and connection. They used the song 'Titanium' as the musical

accompaniment as it perfectly complemented the water theme and captured the foreverchanging energy of our oceans.The senior trio used the 'Rain Series' by Leonid Afremov as their inspiration. They captured the vibrant energy and connection of the characters in Leonid's paintings through their movements. Students chose an orchestral version of Katy Perry’s 'Firework' for their musical accompaniment.

SPORT FIXTURES For the first time since February 2020, competitive DASSA sports fixtures were back at KSNAS this year. We had more students take part in more fixtures than ever before across football, netball, athletics, tag rugby, basketball, rounders, cricket and swimming. Students represented Team KSNAS brilliantly with fantastic displays of skill, resilience, and

teamwork. History was made across all sports, we experienced many great wins and some excellent learning opportunities. The PE department would like to thank every single student for their participation this year across our ECA andsports programmes. Your commitment, effort, and enthusiasm has been incredible, well done!

BURJ KHALIFA PROJECT Students worked in groups to create a structure of the Burj Khalifa using their mathematical and engineering skills. Students in Year 7 and 8 built their Burj Khalifa out of straws and sellotape, ensuring

there was a solid base and a distinctive peak. This challenge was in support of our Project 50/50 initiative, which centred on the UAE's 50th anniversary. Students prepared for their 'big build' during maths lessons.

ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS We have enjoyed a range of initiatives created and shared by our inspiring Environment Committee this year. Students were challenged to use recyled materials to build a whole-school assault course. Every student contributed to the creation of the assault course.

Students used recycled and re-used materials to create their own artwork. They enjoyed innovating and making their own recycle bins to help others to recycle in our community. Students have collected books to send to schools in India for re-use.

SPACE DAY Students were honoured to take part in the ‘UAE Postcards to Space’ initiative led by Emirates Post and Blue Origin’s Club for the Future. They carefully considered and innovated their own vision for the future of the UAE and conveyed their vision through

a drawing on a postcard. The postcards were launched into space by Blue Origin in a rocket! On return to Earth, each postcard will be stamped and returned to Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba to distribute back the children!

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARDED This year, Isha Rajeev Nair, in Year 4, was presented "His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Academic Excellence". This is widely regarded as the highest international award that any student can receive in the UAE and GCC countries.

Isha underwent multiple rounds of evaluation over a period of six months after which, she faced a panel of eminent judges for an interview. Isha was awarded a prestegious trophy, certificate and an educational scholarship.

The award recognises Isha's consistent effort and outstanding all-around contribution to academic, social awareness, art, culture and sports.

This truly is an outstanding achievement that recognises Isha's consistent hard work, effervescent personality, and outstanding contribution to our community.

ROCK CLIMBING As part of the Kings' UAE Expedition programme, our bespoke forerunner to the Duke of Edinburgh Award, students researched a range of different terrains and developed on a number of personal skills such as leadership, respect, and exploration.

Year 7 and 8 students undertook an extra-curriculuar activity to participate in a climbing wall experience. It was great to see the students working together to complete the challenging levels of the different activities.

EXPEDITION UAE Year 7 and 8 students were fortunate to have the talented team from Tashkeel lead on their art lessons in Term 2. Tashkeel, a local artistic workshop company, brought in a range of artists to expose the students to various artistic disciplines and techniques.

STUDENT 'TED TALKS' Secondary students love to take responsibility of key issues and support our pastoral programme by delivering talks to their peers. This year, Year 7 and 8 girls delivered an assembly on International Women's Day, celebrating mothers and the concept of motherhood.

Year 7 student, Hassan, shared his passion for technology by delivering a talk on photography and how to use an iPhone to take amazing pictures. Students were fully engaged and loved learning from their peers.

KS2 RESIDENTIAL We are immensely proud of our students, who threw themselves into their KS2 residential trip - our first in almost 3 years so it was eagerly anticipated by staff and students alike. As educators, we know the tremendous positive impact educational visits and overnight residential’s have on student's development so we were incredibly pleased

to be able to offer these opportunities again. They showed true bravery and risktaking, trying new activities from archery to climbing, sandboarding to orienteering. They demonstrated kindness toward each other, mutual respect, encouragement, and support, and made memories along the way that we know will last a lifetime.
