Do you love languages? Crave computing? Have a passion for piano? Adore acting?
From computing to choirs, golf to guitars, table tennis to trombones, gardening to Greek mythology, badminton to board games, and of course the ever-popular Lego club, there are countless opportunities for junior school pupils to extend their interests within traditional academic areas and beyond, to develop skills or to try something new in our extensive programme of junior school co-curricular activities.
Centred around the school’s three aims, clubs provide a plethora of inspiration and experiences to help pupils flourish in mind, spirit and heart, in their lives at school and beyond. With all kinds of musical, sporting and curiosity-led clubs available, pupils are bound to find activities that inspire them, help them develop new skills and offer a lot of fun!
Clubs and activities take place before school, during lunch time and after school. Some run termly, others run for the full year.
Pupils are able to find out about clubs and activities through a variety of sources: assemblies, form notices (read each morning in class), the clubs and activities notice board and by simply asking their teacher. The Clubs Schedule and Guide is then available on the Parent Portal and is sent out to parents at the beginning of every term.
Pupils are encouraged to be independent in choosing and signing up for clubs, as their interest and enthusiasm for participating will ensure that they are committed to attending. Whilst form teachers guide pupils through the signing up process, some clubs do rely on parents to register their interest; in this instance, separate emails are sent for parents to respond to.
We hope that this booklet provides an overview of a typical term of clubs in the junior school.

An opportunity for exploring new materials and improving artistic skills. They may wish to work on ideas they have explored at home or in their lessons, produce work for forthcoming competitions, or work collaboratively with like-minded peers.

International computing competition; come and practise to compete in the international competition in January.
A fun and sociable club; boys bring their own board games to share a pleasant afternoon of friendly competition. Open to all junior school pupils.

Open to all junior school pupils. Discussions on French culture and showing of French films with English subtitles. Some of the films shown are PG and may not be suitable for younger pupils.
An opporutnity for all green fingered junior school pupils to learn more about gardening in the Rushmere Garden, including how to sow seeds and transplant seedlings, grow herbs, flowers and vegetables; we all feel better for time in the garden before afternoon lessons start!
A chance to explore Earth-related ideas. You will have the opportunity to build a classroom volcano, learn about the solar system, investigate dinosaur footprints and more! Open to all junior school pupils.
An opportunity for Rushmere pupils to enjoy reading a selection of myths from around Greece and beyond.
Open to any student in the Priory and lower school who cares about the environment and climate change and wants to help make a difference at school and the wider community. Runs on a Monday lunchtime.
A chance for Rushmere pupils to improve their handwriting in a small and focused group.
An opportunity to informally meet others, play games, discuss life’s big questions and learn more about the Christian faith. Open to all junior school pupils.

KCJS Computing Challenge
Un-auditioned rehearsals for junior school brass and wind players.
Open to all classical guitarists. The club focusses on enhancing our classical guitarist ensemble skills, as well as developing individual technical skills. The music includes famous guitar ensemble pieces and arrangements of more clasical orchestral music to fit the guitar ensembles requirements.
Auditioned Junior College Singers rehearsals. An opportunity for selected Priory pupils to practise together.
Junior School Orchestra rehearsals. Pupils play mostly classical music with some contemporary music mixed in.
Think you have what it takes to solve problems that will see you thinking out of the box, hacking, coding and breaking encryption? There are three levels of difficulty and prizes for solving each. Good luck! Open to Priory pupils.

Popper Cello Ensemble rehearsals for invited cellists.
Priory Book Club offers you a chance to discuss books from the Reading Challenge with fellow pupils, Ms McGregor and Ms Beddoe in an informal and engaging seminar. The club starts promptly at 7.55am every Friday, so come straight to the library upon arrival in school.
