FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I register my child for the junior school assessments?
What is the pass mark for your entrance test?
Go to the junior school admissions section on our website and select ‘How to register’. You will be asked to upload scans of your child’s passport photo page, a passpor t style photo, proof of settled status/visa status if the passport is non-UK or Irish, documents relating to medical conditions and any information relating to learning needs. We do not sponsor pupils under the Child Student Visa Scheme.
There is no specific pass mark. Once we have looked at the written assessment results we will invite a selected group of candidates to come back for an interview and to take part in an activity session. It is from this group that we will decide to whom we would like to make offers.
What is the registration fee? £210 (including VAT) which can be paid by debit or credit card as part of the online registration process. Do overseas residents have to travel to Wimbledon to take your tests and interviews? Yes, all elements of the assessment must take place on our school campus. To avoid having to travel twice we will hold interviews and an activity session for all overseas candidates, regardless of the outcome of their written assessment, on the afternoon of Friday 9th October.

If my child is not offered a place can they try again the following year? Unsuccessful candidates are welcome to register again in subsequent years for entry at 8+ or 9+.We do not offer a 10+ entry but you are welcome to make an 11+ application to the senior school at the appropriate time. What are the elements of the entrance test? Exam candidates will sit written papers in English, maths and reasoning. There is also a short listening test. A specimen English and maths paper together with exam notes explaining the levels we are looking for at each age group can be found on the website. Following the written assessments, a selection of children will be invited back for a short interview and to take part in a group activity session. KING'S COLLEGE SCHOOL, WIMBLEDON
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How many places are available? There are approximately 54 places available at 7+, 14 places at 8+ and 12 places at 9+. My child gets extra time for their exams at his current school. Can they have extra time for the King’s entry test? At King’s, the concessions available to entrance test candidates are in line with the guidance outlined by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ). If your child has a learning need you will be asked to upload a specialist report, at registration, which must be less than two years old. Our head of learning enrichment (SENCo) will use the report to make a decision about any exam concessions or access arrangements available to your child. I do not think I can afford the fees. Do you provide support for families on lower incomes? Unfortunately, we do not offer bursaries to children joining the junior school. Pupils who join the senior school may apply for a bursary as part of the registration process.

My child goes to a primary school which does not prepare its pupils for junior school entrance tests. Will you take that into account? We are always aware that children may have had a variety of experiences. We do our best to take this into account and our papers are designed to allow candidates to show their best at whatever level they may be. It would be advisable to read the exam notes and look at the specimen papers on our website. Do you have any example papers? Some specimen papers for 7+, 8+ and 9+ are available on our website. The specimen papers are intended to be a guide to the form of that year's tests. Do you have many clubs? We place a great deal of importance to pupils’ involvement in activities outside the classroom. Pupils are offered a wide range of co-curricular activities each term with a large choice of clubs.
