​KING’S​​ACADEMY​​PRESCHOOL​ ​Financial​​Information​ ​Fees​​and​​Tuition​ ​●​ ​Each​​year​​in​​January,​​King’s​​Academy​​School​​Board​​will​​set​​fees​​for​​the​​next​​school​​year.​ ​●​ ​A​​non-refundable​​enrollment​​fee​​is​​due​​at​​the​​initial​​registration.​ ​●​ ​Tuition​​may​​be​​paid​​annually​​or​​in​​9​​monthly​​installments.​ ​All​​Payments​​:​​$200​​Deposit​​is​​due​​with​​registration​​packet​​at​​time​​of​​registration.​​The​​registration​​deposit​ ​will​​be​​deducted​​from​​your​​balance.​ ​All​​subsequent​​payments​​are​​due​​the​​first​​day​​of​​each​​month.​ ​●​ ​Tuition​​may​​be​​paid​​online​​using​​the​​FACTS​​Family​​Portal​​or​​brought​​to​​the​​school​​office.​​PLEASE​ ​DO​​NOT​​SEND​​TUITION​​IN​​YOUR​​CHILD’S​​BAG.​ ​●​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​is​​supported​​by​​tuition​​payments,​​which​​means​​that​​it​​is​​necessary​​for​​all​ ​families​​to​​keep​​current.​ ​●​ ​Checks​​and​​electronic​​withdrawals​​which​​are​​turned​​to​​us​​for​​non-sufficient​​funds​​will​​be​​assessed​​a​ ​fee​​consistent​​with​​our​​resulting​​charges​​from​​the​​bank,​​in​​addition​​to​​any​​applicable​​late​​fees.​ ​Late​​Payments​ ​●​ ​Tuition​​is​​due​​the​​first​​day​​of​​each​​month.​​A​​late​​fee​​of​​$10.00​​per​​scheduled​​payment​​will​​be​​added​​to​ ​tuition​​if​​payment​​is​​a​​week​​or​​more​​late.​​An​​additional​​$10.00​​late​​fee​​will​​be​​added​​to​​each​​payment​ ​period​​missed.​ ​●​ ​If​​it​​has​​been​​10​​days​​or​​more​​since​​a​​missed​​tuition​​payment,​​families​​will​​be​​contacted​​in​​writing​​by​ ​the​​King’s​​Academy​​Finance​​Director​​to​​make​​payment​​arrangements.​ ​●​ ​If​​there​​is​​no​​response,​​payment,​​or​​plan​​arranged​​after​​two​​weeks,​​the​​child​​will​​be​​terminated​​from​ ​the​​program​​at​​the​​discretion​​of​​King’s​​Academy​​Head​​of​​School.​ ​There​​is​​an​​enrollment​​fee​​of​​$120​​per​​child​​for​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool.​​This​​is​​a​​non-refundable​​fee​​to​ ​secure​​your​​child’s​​space.​

​Tuition​​assistance​​programs​​are​​NOT​​available​​for​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool.​ ​Enrollment​​Procedure​ ​●​ ​An​​Open​​House​​will​​be​​held​​in​​August​​or​​September​​for​​new​​and​​current​​families​​attending​​King’s​ ​Academy.​​This​​gives​​families​​an​​opportunity​​to​​meet​​their​​child’s​​teacher(s).​ ​●​ ​Registration​​for​​the​​program​​is​​ongoing.​ ​●​ ​All​​applicants​​will​​confer​​with​​a​​King’s​​Academy​​representative​​before​​registration.​ ​●​ ​Parents​​need​​to​​return​​materials​​and​​fees​​to​​the​​school​​office​​by​​the​​date​​indicated.​ ​●​ ​Priority​​will​​be​​given​​to​​families​​enrolling​​in​​five​​(5)​​days​​a​​week​​school​​day​​or​​full​​day​​programming.​

​Withdrawal​​and​​Refunds​ ​●​ ​Two​​week’s​​written​​notice​​is​​required​​for​​withdrawal​​of​​the​​child​​at​​the​​request​​of​​the​​parent.​​A​ ​Withdrawal​​Form​​(obtainable​​in​​the​​school​​office),​​and​​email,​​or​​letter​​from​​parent​​must​​be​​submitted​ ​in​​order​​to​​meet​​criteria​​as​​official​​notice.​​The​​parent​​or​​caregiver​​is​​responsible​​for​​tuition​​payments​ ​for​​two​​weeks​​after​​the​​Withdrawal​​Form,​​email,​​or​​letter​​is​​submitted,​​regardless​​of​​the​​child's​ ​attendance.​ ​●​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​reserves​​the​​right​​to​​regulate​​all​​fees,​​as​​cost​​requires,​​upon​​30​​day​​written​ ​notice.​ ​●​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​reserves​​the​​right​​to​​refund​​tuition​​to​​any​​child​​who,​​for​​cause,​​is​​unable​​to​ ​continue​​in​​the​​preschool​​program.​ ​●​ ​Due​​to​​financial​​commitments​​of​​the​​preschool,​​refunds​​or​​adjustments​​to​​tuition​​will​​not​​be​​made​​for​ ​absences,​​weather​​related​​school​​closings,​​illness,​​vacation,​​or​​holidays.​ ​Tax​​Information​ ​For​​tax​​purposes​​King’s​​Academy’s​​Federal​​Tax​​ID​​number​​is​​available​​upon​​request.​ ​Late​​Pick-Up​ ​Children​​picked​​up​​after​​their​​contracted​​time​​will​​be​​charged​​a​​late​​pick​​up​​fee​​of​​$10​​for​​every​​15​​minutes.​ ​After​​20​​minutes​​the​​parents​​and​​emergency​​contact​​will​​be​​contacted.​ ​Contracts​​and​​Schedule​​Changes​ ​Your​​child’s​​contract​​on​​the​​enrollment​​form​​must​​be​​followed.​​If​​you​​need​​to​​change​​your​​contract​​to​ ​different​​hours​​or​​different​​days,​​you​​must​​give​​a​​two-week​​written​​notice​​before​​changing.​​If​​at​​any​​time,​​your​ ​child’s​​drop​​off​​or​​pick-up​​times​​change,​​you​​must​​inform​​the​​director​​and/or​​your​​room​​teacher.​ ​Termination​ ​We​​reserve​​the​​right​​to​​terminate​​a​​child’s​​enrollment​​at​​any​​time​​for​​the​​following​​reasons:​​not​​following​​the​ ​policies,​​non-payment,​​non-cooperation​​with​​staff,​​enrollment​​problems,​​or​​persistent​​behavior​​problems.​

​parent)​​on​​file​​prior​​to​​attendance.​​When​​your​​child​​visits​​the​​doctor​​and​​receives​​another​​series​​of​ ​immunizations,​​please​​bring​​written​​verification​​of​​the​​date,​​type​​of​​immunization​​and​​signature​​of​​clinic​ ​personnel.​ ​The​​MN​​DHS​​Rule​​3​​guidelines​​require​​the​​center​​to​​enforce​​the​​following​​health​​exclusions.​​When​​a​​child​ ​becomes​​ill,​​he​​or​​she​​will​​either​​be​​brought​​to​​the​​Director’s​​office​​and​​placed​​on​​a​​sick​​cot​​with​​a​​blanket​​or​ ​placed​​in​​an​​area​​away​​from​​the​​other​​children.​​The​​parent​​will​​be​​notified​​to​​pick​​up​​the​​child​​within​​30​ ​minutes.​​The​​child​​will​​be​​supervised​​at​​all​​times.​​If​​a​​parent​​cannot​​be​​reached,​​we​​will​​contact​​the​​persons​ ​indicated​​by​​you​​on​​your​​child’s​​emergency​​care​​form.​ ​Certain​​symptoms​​in​​children​​may​​suggest​​the​​presence​​of​​communicable​​disease.​​Often,​​but​​not​​always,​ ​excluding​​an​​ill​​child​​will​​decrease​​the​​spread​​of​​disease​​to​​others.​​For​​mild​​symptoms,​​exclusions​​may​​be​ ​warranted​​if​​the​​child​​is​​unable​​to​​participate​​in​​routine​​activities​​or​​if​​the​​child​​requires​​more​​care​​than​​can​​be​ ​provided​​by​​the​​staff.​​The​​child​​must​​be​​kept​​home​​until​​he/she​​is​​free​​of​​symptoms​​of​​contagiousness​​for​​24​ ​hours.​ ​Parents​​will​​be​​contacted​​to​​pick​​up​​a​​sick​​child​​when​​the​​child​​exhibits​​any​​of​​the​​following​​symptoms:​ ​●​ ​Fever​​–​​100.0​​degrees​​F.​​or​​higher​​–​​Under​​no​​circumstance​​should​​a​​child​​be​​given​ ​medication​​to​​reduce​​the​​temperature​​and​​then​​brought​​to​​the​​center.​​This​​puts​​the​ ​health​​of​​the​​child,​​other​​children​​and​​the​​staff​​at​​risk.​ ​●​ ​Vomiting​​-​​one​​(1)​​episode​​in​​one​​day​​-​​may​​return​​when​​your​​child​​has​​not​​vomited​​in​​24​​hours.​ ​●​ ​Loose​​stools​​-​​three​​(3)​​or​​more​​-​​may​​return​​after​​24​​hours​​of​​being​​healthy.​ ​●​ ​Unexplained​​rash​​-​​may​​return​​after​​obtaining​​a​​doctor’s​​note​​saying​​the​​child​​is​​not​​contagious​​or​ ​when​​rash​​is​​better.​ ​●​ ​Contagious​​conjunctivitis​​or​​pus​​draining​​from​​the​​eye​​(Pink​​eye)​​-​​may​​return​​after​​having​​24​​hours​​of​ ​medical​​treatment.​ ​●​ ​Irritability​​-​​or​​listlessness,​​which​​is​​not​​consistent​​with​​the​​child’s​​temperament​​-​​may​​return​​when​ ​normal​​temperament​​has​​returned.​ ​If​​your​​child​​contracts​​any​​of​​the​​following​​infectious​​disease​​(s)​​he/she​​must​​be​​excluded​​until:​ ​●​ ​Chicken/Shingles​​–​​all​​blisters​​have​​scabbed​​over​​and​​are​​no​​longer​​communicable.​ ​●​ ​Croup-Cough​​has​​subsided.​ ​●​ ​Ear​​Infection​​-​​has​​been​​on​​antibiotic​​medication​​for​​24​​hours.​ ​●​ ​Fever​​-​​Temperature​​is​​normal​​for​​24​​hours​​without​​fever​​reducing​​medication.​ ​●​ ​Head​​Lice​​-​​after​​one​​completed​​treatment​​and​​removal​​of​​all​​nits​​and​​is​​certified​​to​​be​​completely​ ​lice/nit​​free.​

​●​ ​Ringworm​​-​​24​​hours​​of​​medical​​treatment​​with​​fungicidal​​ointment.​ ​●​ ​RSV​​-​​wheezing​​and​​coughing​​have​​subsided.​ ​●​ ​Impetigo​​-​​after​​24​​hours​​of​​medication.​ ​●​ ​Strep​​Throat​​-​​after​​the​​child​​has​​been​​on​​medication​​for​​24​​hours.​ ​If​​your​​child​​contracts​​any​​communicable​​disease,​​please​​inform​​the​​center​​within​​24​​hours.​ ​If​​a​​child​​is​​exposed​​to​​a​​communicable​​disease​​while​​in​​our​​care,​​a​​notice​​will​​be​​posted.​ ​Allergy​​Policy​ ​Reason​​this​​policy​​is​​important​​:​​Allergies,​​including​​food​​allergies,​​are​​becoming​​more​​common​​among​ ​infants​​and​​young​​children.​​Allergic​​reactions​​can​​range​​from​​mild​​skin​​rashes​​to​​severe,​​life-threatening​ ​reactions​​with​​breathing​​difficulties.​​It​​is​​important​​to​​reduce​​the​​likelihood​​that​​these​​reactions​​will​​take​​place​ ​while​​the​​child​​is​​at​​childcare.​ ​When​​children​​with​​food​​or​​other​​known​​allergies​​attend​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​the​​director​​will​​provide​ ​the​​family​​with​​an​​Individualized​​Child​​Care​​Plan.​ ​This​​Individualized​​Child​​Care​​Plan​​must​​be​​filled​​out​​and​ ​returned​​to​​the​​director​​before​​a​​child​​begins​​the​​program​​or​​within​​a​​week​​after​​being​​diagnosed​​with​​the​ ​allergy​​if​​the​​child​​is​​currently​​enrolled.​​If​​the​​child’s​​doctor​​has​​an​​Allergy​​Action​​Plan​​that​​their​​office​​uses,​​it​ ​is​​acceptable​​for​​the​​doctor​​to​​fill​​out​​their​​form​​as​​long​​as​​everything​​listed​​below​​is​​addressed.​ ​●​ ​Based​​on​​the​​child’s​​Individualized​​Child​​Care​​Plan​​or​​Allergy​​Action​​Plan,​​caregivers/teachers​​will​ ​receive​​training​​and​​put​​into​​practice:​

​o​ ​Preventing​​exposure​​to​​specific​​food(s)​​or​​triggers​​that​​trigger​​allergy​ ​o​ ​Recognize​​symptoms​​of​​allergic​​reaction​ ​o​ ​Treating​​allergic​​reaction​ ​●​ ​Parents​​and​​staff​​shall​​arrange​​for​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​to​​have​​appropriate​​medication​​(if​ ​necessary)​​on​​site,​​proper​​storage​​of​​medication,​​equipment​​and​​training​​to​​use​​while​​in​​childcare.​​A​ ​new​​Medical​​Release​​Form​​must​​be​​signed​​every​​30​​days.​ ​●​ ​The​​medicine​​has​​to​​follow​​our​​Medicine​​Policy.​ ​●​ ​The​​lead​​teacher​​or​​teacher​​qualified​​personnel​​will​​administer​​the​​medicine.​​All​​staff,​​however,​​will​​be​ ​trained​​on​​each​​child’s​​Individualized​​Child​​Care​​Plan.​ ​●​ ​All​​allergies​​will​​be​​posted​​in​​the​​room​​and​​each​​classroom​​clipboard​​so​​that​​it​​will​​be​​with​​the​ ​classroom​​teachers​​at​​all​​times.​

​Emergency​​or​​Injury​ ​All​​children​​are​​supervised​​at​​all​​times,​​but​​accidents​​occasionally​​occur.​​Any​​accident​​is​​reported​​to​​the​​parent​ ​and​​will​​be​​recorded.​​All​​staff​​are​​trained​​in​​First​​Aid​​and​​CPR.​​If​​emergency​​medical​​care​​is​​necessary,​​the​ ​Director/Teacher​​may​​take​​the​​following​​steps:​ ​●​ ​Appropriate​​first​​aid​​will​​be​​given.​ ​●​ ​Attempt​​to​​contact​​parent​​or​​guardian.​ ​●​ ​Attempt​​to​​contact​​the​​child's​​physician.​ ​●​ ​Attempt​​to​​contact​​the​​parent​​or​​guardian​​through​​any​​of​​the​​other​​persons​​listed​​on​​the​​emergency​ ​information​​form​​you​​completed​​upon​​enrollment.​ ​If​​we​​cannot​​contact​​you​​or​​your​​physician,​​we​​may​​do​​the​​following:​ ​●​ ​Call​​another​​physician.​ ​●​ ​Call​​an​​ambulance​​and​​have​​the​​child​​taken​​to​​St.​​Cloud​​Hospital.​​A​​staff​​person​​will​​accompany​​a​​child​ ​if​​a​​parent​​has​​not​​arrived.​ ​Medication​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​teachers​​must​​have​​a​​written​​permission​​form​​from​​the​​child’s​​parent​​before​ ​administering​​medicine.​​Products​​listed​​on​​the​​enrollment​​forms​​will​​only​​be​​given​​with​​parent’s​​consent.​ ​All​​medications​​should​​be​​brought​​to​​and​​from​​school​​by​​parent​​and/or​​guardian​​and​​given​​directly​​to​​the​ ​center​​staff.​​Medications​​are​​NOT​​to​​be​​transported​​by​​the​​student.​ ​All​​medication​​will​​be​​stored​​in​​a​​locked​​cabinet​​or​​out​​of​​reach​​of​​the​​children.​​Medications​​will​​only​​be​​given​ ​to​​students​​with​​proper​​written​​consent.​​All​​products​​will​​be​​stored​​according​​to​​directions​​and​​in​​the​​original​ ​container,​​with​​the​​child’s​​first​​and​​last​​name​​on​​it,​​and​​placed​​in​​a​​zip-loc​​bag.​ ​A​​Medication​​Administration​​Record/Medication​​Permission​​Form​​(one​​for​​each​​medication)​​must​​be​ ​completely​​filled​​out​​and​​signed​​by​​parent/guardian​​before​​medication​​of​​any​​type​​may​​be​​given.​​Instructions​ ​must​​be​​the​​same​​as​​the​​instructions​​on​​the​​bottle.​​For​​long​​term​​use,​​a​​form​​must​​be​​filled​​out​​every​​30​​days.​ ​Completed​​forms​​will​​be​​placed​​in​​your​​child’s​​file.​​A​​written​​instruction​​form​​from​​a​​licensed​​physician​​or​ ​dentist​​is​​required​​before​​administering​​prescription​​medication.​​A​​pharmacy​​label​​including​​the​​child’s​​name,​ ​physician’s​​name,​​and​​dosage​​instructions​​is​​accepted​​as​​written​​instruction.​​Non-prescription​​medication​​does​ ​not​​require​​a​​doctor’s​​permission,​​but​​an​​administering​​form​​must​​be​​filled​​out​​at​​the​​center.​​The​​teacher​​will​ ​record​​medication​​information.​​Records​​will​​be​​kept​​for​​all​​medications.​

​Hand​​Washing​ ​We​​strongly​​believe​​that​​high-quality​​hand​​washing​​is​​important​​to​​maintain​​good​​health​​for​​the​​children​​and​ ​staff.​​We​​will​​wash​​hands​​before​​all​​meals,​​after​​toileting,​​sneezing,​​coughing,​​or​​wiping​​a​​runny​​nose,​​playing​ ​outside,​​playing​​in​​the​​water​​table,​​and​​playing​​with​​play​​dough.​ ​Center​​Cleaning​ ​All​​toys​​and​​surfaces​​are​​washed​​and​​disinfected​​as​​needed​​and​​daily.​​Toilets​​and​​sinks​​are​​cleaned​​daily​​and​​as​ ​needed.​​Tables​​are​​disinfected​​before​​and​​after​​every​​meal.​​Cots​​are​​disinfected​​each​​day.​​Floors​​are​​swept,​ ​mopped,​​and​​vacuumed​​daily.​ ​Staff​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​hires​​Christian​​teachers​​who​​genuinely​​love​​working​​with​​children​​and​​have​​the​ ​willingness​​to​​commit​​to​​enriching​​the​​lives​​of​​the​​children​​for​​whom​​they​​care.​​Each​​has​​a​​qualified​ ​background​​study​​done​​by​​state​​guidelines.​​Additionally,​​they​​participate​​in​​continuous​​programs​​of​​in-service​ ​education​​to​​keep​​them​​current​​in​​early​​childhood​​best​​practices.​​All​​teachers​​and​​assistant​​teachers​​have​ ​participated​​in​​First​​Aid​​and​​CPR​​certification.​​All​​staff​​meet​​the​​requirements​​of​​DCYF​​in​​being​​a​​qualified​ ​teacher,​​assistant​​teacher,​​or​​aide.​​Our​​teachers​​have​​an​​Early​​Childhood​​degree​​&/or​​Elementary​​degree.​ ​Visitors​ ​Prospective​​students​​and​​parents​​visiting​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​are​​welcome.​​Visitors​​should​​notify​​the​ ​school​​administration​​at​​least​​two​​days​​prior​​to​​the​​visit​​and​​will​​be​​asked​​to​​sign​​in​​at​​the​​office.​ ​Checking​​In/Out,​​Communication,​​and​​Conferences​ ​Please​​bring​​your​​child​​to​​their​​room​​and​​help​​them​​with​​their​​jackets/shoes.​​Using​​the​​school​​computer,​​enter​ ​your​​family’s​​designated​​number​​to​​sign​​your​​child​​in​​and​​out​​for​​their​​attendance.​​It​​is​​important​​to​​let​​us​ ​know​​if​​your​​pickup​​time​​is​​different​​than​​normal.​ ​Daily​​communication​​between​​the​​teacher​​and​​parent​​is​​crucial.​​Check​​your​​child’s​​folder​​for​​information​ ​from​​the​​director​​and​​your​​child’s​​teacher​​along​​with​​other​​daily​​materials.​ ​A​​Preschool​​Newsletter​​will​​be​​sent​​home​​every​​week​​with​​center​​news,​​themes​​and​​events​​from​​our​ ​classroom.​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​will​​have​​family​​conferences​​twice​​a​​year​​to​​take​​time​​to​​discuss​​your​​child’s​ ​intellectual,​​physical,​​social,​​and​​emotional​​development,​​review​​the​​childcare​​program​​plan​​and​​build​ ​relationships.​​These​​conferences​​coincide​​with​​King’s​​Academy’s​​K-12​​conference​​days.​

​Most​​importantly,​​parents​​are​​invited​​and​​encouraged​​to​​visit​​the​​center,​​at​​any​​time.​​Parents​​are​​welcome​​to​ ​schedule​​a​​visit​​and​​discuss​​their​​child’s​​program​​plan​​with​​the​​Director/Teacher​​in​​addition​​to​​conferences.​ ​Parking,​​Drop-Off​​&​​Pick-Up​ ​When​​dropping​​off​​and​​picking​​up,​​parents​​must​​use​​the​​designated​​areas.​​Specific​​traffic​​flow​​patterns​​have​ ​been​​put​​in​​place​​to​​help​​ensure​​the​​safety​​of​​all​​students​​and​​parents.​​Parents​​will​​park​​their​​cars​​and​​walk​ ​their​​child​​into​​the​​classroom.​​At​​the​​end​​of​​the​​day,​​a​​designated​​pick​​up​​person​​will​​come​​to​​the​​classroom​ ​to​​pick​​up​​their​​student.​ ​The​​pick​​up​​person​​will​​use​​their​​designated​​family​​number​​to​​drop​​off​​and​​pick​​up​ ​their​​student.​ ​The​​code​​is​​entered​​on​​the​​computer​​outside​​the​​classroom​​to​​sign-in/out​​their​​student.​ ​Absent/​​New​​Pick-Up​​Person/​​Impaired​​Parent/​​No​​Shows​​at​​Pick-Up​ ​If​​your​​child​​will​​be​​absent​​or​​needs​​to​​attend​​a​​time​​when​​he​​or​​she​​usually​​does​​not,​​notify​​the​​center​​with​ ​either​​a​​phone​​call​​or​​email,​​as​​soon​​as​​you​​know.​​If​​your​​child​​will​​not​​be​​attending​​on​​their​​scheduled​​day​ ​and​​it​​is​​short​​notice,​​please​​email​​us​​by​​8:00​​am.​​Some​​activities​​that​​are​​planned​​may​​be​​delayed​​until​​the​ ​anticipated​​child​​arrives.​ ​You​​must​​notify​​the​​center​​if​​someone​​other​​than​​the​​person​​listed​​for​​pick-up​​is​​picking​​up​​your​​child.​​The​ ​new​​person​​must​​show​​identification.​​This​​procedure​​is​​done​​for​​your​​child’s​​safety.​ ​If​​a​​parent/guardian​​arrives​​to​​pick​​up​​a​​child​​and​​is​​deemed​​to​​be​​under​​the​​influence​​of​​drugs​​or​​alcohol,​​staff​ ​will​​notify​​emergency​​contacts.​​Under​​no​​circumstances​​will​​a​​child​​be​​allowed​​to​​leave​​with​​an​​impaired​​adult.​ ​Police​​may​​be​​contacted.​ ​If​​no​​one​​shows​​up​​to​​pick​​up​​your​​child,​​the​​staff​​will​​try​​to​​call​​parents,​​if​​they​​cannot​​be​​reached​​they​​will​ ​call​​all​​of​​the​​emergency​​contacts​​and​​authorized​​pick-up​​contacts​​that​​were​​provided​​on​​enrollment​​forms.​​If​ ​no​​one​​can​​be​​reached,​​the​​staff​​will​​call​​the​​police​​department.​ ​Nutrition​​Information​ ​All​​meals​​and​​snacks​​will​​follow​​USDA​​guidelines.​​We​​will​​pray​​before​​each​​meal.​​Low-fat​​milk​​is​​provided​​at​ ​morning​​snack​​and​​lunch.​​Water​​will​​be​​available​​at​​any​​time​​during​​the​​day.​​If​​your​​child​​brings​​a​​water​​bottle​ ​to​​school,​​his/her​​name​​must​​be​​on​​the​​bottle​​and​​it​​will​​be​​sent​​home​​daily​​to​​be​​cleaned​​and​​sanitized.​ ​Please​​make​​sure​​your​​child​​has​​had​​breakfast​​prior​​to​​dropping​​them​​off.​ ​Lunch:​​(​School​​day​​and​​full​​day​​children​​only​​)​​will​​be​​served​​around​​12:00-12:30​​pm.​​A​​cold​​lunch​​should​​be​ ​packed​​and​​sent​​with​​your​​child​​each​​day.​​Friday​​is​​an​​optional​​hot​​lunch​​for​​purchase;​​pizza,​​vegetable,​​&​​fruit​

​identified,​​observed,​​and​​recorded,​​the​​Director​​or​​teacher​​will​​bring​​this​​to​​the​​attention​​of​​the​​child’s​ ​parents.​​A​​conference​​may​​be​​planned​​to​​help​​with​​a​​behavior​​situation.​ ​BEHAVIOR​​GUIDANCE​​–​​The​​staff​​sets​​a​​pattern​​of​​good​​humor​​and​​serenity​​and​​seeks​​to​​practice​​good​ ​behavior​​management.​​Teachers​​prepare​​the​​environment​​to​​facilitate​​desired​​behavior,​​give​​direction​​and​ ​suggestions​​in​​a​​positive​​manner​​when​​possible,​​use​​descriptive​​praise,​​and​​actively​​listen​​to​​the​​child.​ ​Each​​child​​is​​given​​opportunities​​to​​make​​choices​​between​​meaningful​​activities​​to​​encourage​​his/her​ ​independence.​​Children​​are​​given​​clear​​instruction​​on​​appropriate​​and​​inappropriate​​behavior​​at​​the​​center​ ​depending​​on​​the​​development​​level​​of​​the​​child.​​Inappropriate​​behavior​​includes​​hurting​​other​​children​​or​ ​themselves​​physically​​or​​emotionally,​​disrupting​​group​​activities,​​destroying​​property​​or​​defiance.​ ​When​​a​​child​​engages​​in​​inappropriate​​behavior​​,​​the​​staff​​may​​intervene​​in​​any​​of​​all​​the​​following​​ways,​ ​depending​​on​​the​​level​​of​​the​​child:​ ​1.​ ​Redirect​​the​​child​​toward​​a​​constructive​​activity.​ ​2.​ ​Remind​​the​​child​​of​​the​​rule​​regarding​​the​​activity​​and​​why​​the​​behavior​​is​​inappropriate.​ ​3.​ ​Explain​​to​​the​​child​​what​​logical​​consequences​​will​​occur​​if​​the​​behavior​​continues.​ ​4.​ ​Follow​​through​​on​​a​​logical​​consequence​​if​​the​​behavior​​continues.​ ​5.​ ​Suggest​​possible​​alternative(s)​​to​​the​​problem​​behavior.​ ​6.​ ​Help​​the​​child​​to​​solve​​the​​problem​​by​​suggesting​​solutions.​ ​7.​ ​Separate​​the​​child​​from​​the​​group.​ ​Separation​​from​​the​​group​​only​​occurs​​when​​other​​means​​of​​behavior​​management​​have​​failed,​​or​​the​​incident​ ​is​​of​​grave​​concern​​for​​the​​safety​​and​​well-being​​of​​the​​child​​or​​others​​in​​the​​group.​​If​​separation​​from​​the​ ​group​​for​​a​​short​​period​​of​​time​​is​​chosen​​as​​a​​logical​​consequence,​​the​​separation​​will​​be​​documented​​on​​the​ ​‘separation​​log’.​​If​​separation​​occurs​​three​​or​​more​​times​​in​​a​​day,​​the​​parent​​is​​notified.​​A​​child​​who​​is​ ​separated​​from​​the​​group​​remains​​under​​the​​supervision​​of​​a​​staff​​member.​ ​No​​child​​in​​the​​center​​is​​subjected​​to​​the​​following:​​corporal​​punishment​​which​​includes,​​but​​is​​not​​limited​​to,​ ​rough​​handling,​​hair​​pulling,​​shaking,​​slapping,​​kicking,​​biting,​​pinching,​​hitting,​​and​​spanking;​​emotional​​abuse​ ​which​​includes,​​but​​is​​not​​limited​​to,​​name​​calling,​​ostracism,​​shaming,​​making​​derogatory​​remarks​​about​​the​ ​child​​or​​the​​child’s​​family,​​and​​using​​language​​that​​threatens,​​humiliates,​​or​​frightens​​the​​child,​​separation​​from​ ​the​​group​​except​​as​​noted​​previously,​​punishment​​for​​lapse​​in​​toilet​​habits,​​withholding​​of​​food,​​light,​​warmth,​ ​clothing​​or​​medical​​care​​as​​punishment​​for​​unacceptable​​behavior,​​or​​the​​use​​of​​physical​​or​​mechanical​ ​restraints​​other​​than​​to​​physically​​hold​​a​​child​​when​​containment​​is​​necessary​​to​​protect​​the​​child​​or​​others​ ​from​​harm.​​Prone​​restraint​​is​​prohibited.​

​Confronting​​a​​child​​–​​We​​ask,​​“What​​happened?”​​when​​a​​child​​accuses​​another​​child​​of​​doing​​something​ ​inappropriate​​(or​​a​​staff​​person​​suspects​​it)​​yet​​an​​adult​​did​​not​​observe​​the​​incident.​​There​​is​​a​​tendency​​to​ ​ask,​​“Did​​you​​do​​that?”​​which​​puts​​the​​child​​in​​a​​position​​of​​being​​tempted​​to​​lie.​​When​​asked​​if​​he/she​​did​ ​something​​a​​child​​may​​lie​​out​​of​​fear​​or​​admitting​​wrongdoing​​or​​for​​other​​developmental​​reasons.​​When​ ​asked,​​“Did​​you​​do​​that?”​​the​​staff​​member​​must​​usually​​then​​deal​​with​​lying​​in​​addition​​to​​the​​original​​issues.​ ​When​​a​​staff​​person​​observes​​or​​hears​​the​​child​​do​​or​​say​​something​​inappropriate,​​the​​adult​​states​​clearly​ ​what​​he/she​​saw​​or​​heard.​​Then​​the​​child​​is​​encouraged​​to​​tell​​more​​about​​what​​happened​​.​​This​​avoids​ ​putting​​the​​child​​in​​a​​position​​to​​lie.​ ​The​​“I’m​​Sorry”​​Dilemma​​–​​When​​a​​child​​hurts​​another​​child,​​emotionally​​or​​physically,​​it​​is​​the​​goal​​of​ ​the​​staff​​to​​try​​to​​reconcile​​the​​children.​​In​​some​​instances,​​the​​occurrence​​is​​purely​​accidental,​​and​​the​​child​​is​ ​encouraged​​to​​express​​remorse​​at​​having​​unintentionally​​caused​​distress​​to​​another​​child.​​The​​staff​​person​ ​helps​​the​​child​​to​​see​​that​​the​​other​​child​​is​​upset​​or​​hurt​​and​​lets​​the​​child​​know​​that​​he/she​​should​​say​​I’m​ ​sorry,​​since​​it​​was​​an​​accident​​.​​In​​that​​case,​​the​​words​​“​I’m​​sorry.”​​is​​a​​genuine​​response​​and​​that​​response​​is​ ​encouraged.​ ​When​​a​​child​​deliberately​​causes​​harm​​to​​another​​child,​​it​​is​​more​​complex.​​Although​​the​​goal​​is​​to​​help​​the​ ​child​​reconcile​​with​​the​​other​​child,​​I’m​​sorry​​is​​not​​necessarily​​an​​honest​​response​​in​​the​​heat​​of​​emotions.​ ​Staff​​encourages​​the​​child​​to​​first​​admit​​I​​was​​wrong​​if​​at​​the​​point​​the​​child​​offers,​​I’m​​sorry,​​the​​staff​​issues​ ​with​​the​​child​​that​​I’m​​sorry​​means​​you​​will​​not​​do​​that​​again.​​If​​a​​child​​is​​not​​sorry,​​we​​do​​not​​force​​the​​child​

​to​​lie.​​The​​child​​is​​encouraged​​to​​have​​empathy​​for​​the​​other​​child​​but​​is​​not​​forced​​to​​express​​sympathy​​at​ ​that​​time.​ ​Staff​​may​​use​​the​​words​​“it’s​​not​​OK​​to​​_______.”​​“that​​hurts​​people”​​or​​“that​​hurts​​people’s​​feelings.”​​The​ ​goal​​is​​to​​help​​children​​recognize​​that​​harm​​has​​been​​caused​​and​​that​​the​​other​​child​​may​​be​ ​hurt.​​This​​is​​the​​beginning​​of​​learning​​empathy.​ ​“I’m​​not​​your​​friend”​​–​​“I’m​​not​​your​​friend,”​​is​​a​​typical​​statement​​from​​three​​to​​five​​years​​old.​​They​ ​understand​​that​​friendship​​is​​important​​and​​that​​withholding​​it​​is​​powerful.​​Staff​​members​​give​​the​​message​ ​that​​“I’m​​not​​your​​friend”​​is​​not​​an​​OK​​thing​​to​​say​​because​​it​​hurts​​the​​other​​person’s​​feelings.​​The​​children​ ​are​​asked​​to​​talk​​about​​what​​happened​​and​​tell​​about​​their​​feelings.​ ​If​​the​​child​​was​​expressing​​a​​need​​to​​have​​alone​​time,​​meaning​​I​​don’t​​want​​to​​play​​with​​anyone​​right​​now,​​the​ ​staff​​helps​​him/her​​to​​verbalize​​this​​to​​the​​other​​child​​in​​a​​way​​that​​is​​more​​appropriate.​

​If​​the​​child​​was​​trying​​to​​inflict​​harm,​​he/she​​is​​clearly​​told​​that​​it​​is​​not​​OK​​and​​that​​we​​do​​not​​allow​​him/her​ t​ o​​hurt​​anyone​​else​​nor​​do​​we​​let​​anyone​​hurt​​him/her.​​A​​staff​​member​​tells​​the​​child,​​It​​hurts​​on​​the​ ​inside…it​​hurts​​peoples​​feelings…when​​you​​say​​“I​​don’t​​want​​to​​be​​your​​friend.”​ ​The​​following​​expectations​​are​​clearly​​communicated​​during​​the​​process:​ ​We​​need​​to​​include​​all​​the​​children​​at​​the​​center​​as​​our​​friends.​​It’s​​OK​​to​​choose​​to​​play​​alone,​​but​​if​​two​​are​ ​playing,​​so​​can​​more.​​We​​are​​one​​big​​family,​​and​​we​​would​​like​​to​​be​​a​​happy​​family.​​Ultimately,​​if​​the​​staff​​is​ ​not​​able​​to​​help​​children​​reconcile​​with​​each​​child​​feeling​​accepted,​​the​​perpetrator​​of​​the​​rift​​(if​​it​​can​​be​ ​determined)​​is​​the​​one​​who​​is​​not​​allowed​​to​​play​​until​​he/she​​is​​able​​to​​include​​the​​other​​child.​​The​​goal​​is​​to​ ​have​​the​​child​​express​​;​​I​​should​​not​​have​​said​​that.​​Will​​you​​play​​with​​me?​ ​Items​​from​​Home​ ​Our​​center​​is​​equipped​​with​​appropriate​​toys​​therefore​​we​​request​​that​​playthings​​from​​home​​stay​​at​​home.​ ​We​​do​​not​​allow​​the​​children​​to​​play​​with​​guns​​or​​violent​​toys​​of​​any​​kind.​ ​Donations/Fundraising​ ​King’s​​Academy​​hosts​​two​​large​​schoolwide​​fundraising​​events​​to​​include​​the​​community​​per​​year;​​one​​in​​the​ ​fall​​and​​one​​in​​the​​spring.​ ​Pets​ ​The​​presence​​of​​physically​​accessible​​pets​​will​​not​​be​​allowed​​in​​the​​center​​due​​to​​the​​possibility​​of​​spreading​ ​disease.​​Please​​call​​and​​receive​​approval​​for​​pets​​for​​Show​​and​​Tell.​ ​Field​​Trips​ ​Our​​license​​is​​for​​our​​classroom​​and​​designated​​outdoor​​playspace.​​Therefore,​​any​​visit​​to​​other​​parts​​of​​the​ ​building​​(i.e.​​gym,​​library,​​cafetorium,​​etc.)​​are​​considered​​on-site​​field​​trips.​​At​​the​​beginning​​of​​the​​year​ ​parents​​will​​be​​presented​​with​​a​​permission​​slip​​for​​these​​‘field​​trips’.​ ​We​​occasionally​​have​​off-site​​field​​trips​​where​​we​​leave​​the​​building.​​We​​may​​need​​parents​​to​​help​​with​ ​transportation.​​All​​families​​will​​be​​notified​​about​​any​​off-site​​field​​trips​​and​​permission​​forms​​will​​need​​to​​be​ ​signed.​ ​Mandated​​Reporting​ ​All​​staff​​members​​are​​obligated​​under​​law​​to​​report​​all​​suspected​​child​​abuse.​​We​​follow​​the​​following​​state​ ​policies​​taken​​from​​DCYF​​document​​DHS7634-A.​ ​What​​to​​report​

​Emergency​​Procedures​ ​Weather​​and​​Other​​Emergencies​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​follows​​the​​St.​​Cloud​​Area​​(742)​​announcements​​regarding​​early​​dismissals,​​late​ ​starts,​​and​​school​​closings.​​King’s​​Academy​​has​​a​​notification​​system​​(emails/text)​​that​​will​​also​​alert​​you.​ ​Radio​​and​​television​​stations​​that​​carry​​announcements​​relating​​to​​early​​dismissals,​​late​​starts,​​and​​school​ ​closings​​include:​ ​KCFB​​radio​​(91.5​​FM)​ ​SPIRIT​​92.9​​radio​​(92.9​​FM)​ ​WJON​​radio​​(1240​​AM)​ ​KARE​​11​​TV​​(Channel​​11)​ ​WCCO​​TV​​(Channel​​4)​ ​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​will​​follow​​the​​King’s​​Academy​​drill​​calendar​​which​​includes:​​tornado​​and​​fire​​drills​ ​throughout​​the​​school​​year.​ ​Snow​​Emergency/Blizzards:​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​will​​make​​every​​attempt​​to​​remain​​open​​as​​usual.​ ​However,​​to​​preserve​​the​​safety​​of​​our​​staff​​and​​children​​we​​will​​close​​if​​the​​conditions​​warrant​​such​​action.​ ​The​​King’s​​Academy​​Head​​of​​School​​will​​make​​the​​decision​​to​​close​​early​​or​​open​​late​​due​​to​​inclement​ ​weather.​ ​Fire​​Plan:​​The​​children​​will​​be​​evacuated​​from​​the​​building​​out​​of​​the​​closest,​​safest​​exit.​​The​​children​​will​​be​ ​led​​to​​the​​fenced​​in​​playground/space​​behind​​the​​building.​​In​​extreme​​case​​where​​relocation​​off​​the​​property​​is​ ​necessary​​we​​will​​follow​​the​​Emergency​​Evacuation​​Plan.​ ​Tornado​​Plan:​​Children​​will​​be​​taken​​to​​the​​interior​​closet​​&/or​​bathrooms​​of​​the​​preschool​​room​​where​ ​there​​are​​no​​windows.​​We​​will​​have​​our​​emergency​​bag​​with​​us​​that​​is​​equipped​​with​​emergency​​supplies.​ ​Intruder​​Plan:​​All​​outside​​doors​​are​​locked​​when​​King’s​​Academy​​Preschool​​is​​open,​​except​​7:45-8:20​​am​ ​during​​student​​drop​​off​​and​​3:00​​-3:30pm​​during​​student​​pick​​up.​​When​​the​​building​​is​​locked,​​visitors​​may​ ​enter​​through​​the​​main​​office​​doors​​which​​have​​surveillance​​video​​and​​require​​staff​​to​​buzz​​a​​visitor​​into​​the​ ​building.​​Depending​​on​​the​​scenario,​​students​​will​​follow​​staff​​guidance.​​This​​may​​include​​sheltering​​in​​place​ ​(similar​​to​​the​​tornado​​plan),​​or​​an​​evacuation​​plan.​ ​Emergency​​Evacuation​​Plan:​​Children​​will​​be​​evacuated​​from​​the​​building​​to​​a​​secure​​location​​where​ ​parents​​will​​be​​notified​​to​​pick​​up​​children​​as​​soon​​as​​possible​​for​​the​​remainder​​of​​the​​day.​​In​​the​​event​

​parents​​are​​unable​​to​​be​​reached,​​the​​child’s​​emergency​​contacts​​will​​be​​notified.​​Identification​​of​​the​​person​ ​picking​​up​​the​​child​​will​​be​​verified.​​Discovery​​Elementary​​School​​is​​our​​evacuation/relocation​​site.​ ​Missing​​Child:​​If​​a​​child​​is​​reported​​missing,​​the​​staff​​will​​conduct​​an​​immediate​​search​​of​​the​​premises​​and​​if​ ​the​​child​​is​​not​​found,​​parents/guardians​​and​​law​​enforcement​​will​​be​​notified.​ ​Accommodations:​​Any​​children​​in​​the​​program​​with​​a​​disability,​​chronic​​medical​​condition,​​and/or​​medicine​ ​will​​have​​an​​Individualized​​Child​​Care​​Plan​​(ICCP).​​Within​​the​​ICCP​​accommodations​​for​​emergencies​​will​​be​ ​mentioned.​ ​Grievance​​Procedure​​for​​Parents​ ​If​​you​​have​​a​​concern​​or​​complaint​​about​​the​​care​​any​​child​​receives​​in​​our​​center,​​the​​policies​​adhered​​to,​​or​ ​staff​​competence,​​please​​follow​​the​​following​​process​​so​​these​​concerns​​are​​responded​​to​​quickly.​​First​ ​contact​​the​​Teacher,​​in​​writing,​​in​​person,​​or​​by​​telephone.​​If​​the​​problem​​is​​not​​resolved​​to​​your​​satisfaction,​ ​the​​second​​contact​​should​​be​​made​​to​​the​​Director.​​If​​you​​still​​feel​​the​​issue​​has​​not​​been​​resolved,​​the​​next​ ​appropriate​​step​​would​​be​​to​​take​​it​​to​​the​​Head​​of​​School​​at​​King’s​​Academy.​ ​Additional​​Information​ ​Research,​​Public​​Relations​ ​Before​​any​​occasion​​of​​research,​​experimental​​procedure,​​or​​public​​relations​​activity​​involving​​a​​child,​​full​ ​disclosure​​must​​be​​given​​to​​the​​parent/guardian​​and​​written​​parental​​permission​​to​​participate​​must​​be​ ​obtained.​​This​​applies​​to​​events​​such​​as​​but​​not​​limited​​to​​research​​for​​a​​high​​school/college​​student​​project,​ ​video​​for​​school​​publicity,​​&/or​​pictures​​for​​social​​media.​ ​School​​Bags​ ​Please​​provide​​your​​child​​with​​a​​school​​bag​​to​​transport​​personal​​items​​and​​any​​papers​​to​​and​​from​​the​ ​preschool.​​This​​bag​​should​​be​​large​​enough​​to​​contain​​your​​child’s​​folder.​ ​Clothing​ ​●​ ​Our​​motto​​is,​​“Dress​​for​​Mess”.​ ​●​ ​An​​extra​​set​​of​​clothing,​​(shirt,​​pants,​​underwear,​​socks)​​should​​always​​be​​in​​your​​child’s​​bag.​ ​●​ ​Appropriate​​clothing​​should​​allow​​for​​children​​to​​practice​​self-help​​skills.​​Overalls​​and​​belts​​are​ ​exceedingly​​difficult​​for​​children​​to​​manage​​on​​their​​own.​​Children​​need​​clothing​​that​​goes​​on​​easily.​ ​●​ ​Mark​​all​​outerwear,​​hats,​​mittens,​​jacket​​boots,​​and​​snow​​pants​​with​​your​​child’s​​name.​

​●​ ​Closed-toed​​shoes​​are​​strongly​​suggested​​year-round.​​Soft-soled​​tie​​or​​velcro-closure​​shoes​​are​ ​preferred​​for​​safety​​reasons.​​Sandals,​​slip-ons,​​or​​flip​​flops​​are​​strongly​​discouraged​​as​​they​​pose​​a​ ​hazard​​as​​children​​run​​and​​play.​ ​●​ ​On​​gym​​days,​​a​​closed​​toe​​shoe​​with​​a​​non-marking​​sole​​is​​required.​​If​​not​​available,​​students​​may​​need​ ​to​​have​​gym​​class​​in​​their​​socks.​ ​Outdoor​​Play,​​Sunscreen,​​and​​Insect​​Repellent​ ​●​ ​Children​​will​​play​​outdoors​​regularly​​while​​attending​​our​​program.​​We​​try​​to​​be​​out​​daily,​​even​​in​ ​drizzly​​or​​very​​cold​​weather.​ ​●​ ​Winter​​appropriated​​dress​​includes:​ ​o​ ​Jackets​ ​o​ ​Snow​​pants​ ​o​ ​Boots​ ​o​ ​Hats​ ​o​ ​Snow​​Gloves​ ​●​ ​Fall​​and​​spring​​appropriate​​dress​​includes:​ ​o​ ​Closed-toed​​shoes​​or​​boots​ ​o​ ​Jackets​​with​​hoods​​or​​a​​hat​ ​o​ ​Rain​​jackets​ ​●​ ​Children​​may​​keep​​winter​​clothing​​at​​school​​during​​the​​week​​or​​bring​​it​​each​​day.​ ​●​ ​If​​you​​have​​given​​permission​​and​​provide​​screen/insect​​repellent​​to​​the​​program,​​the​​teacher​​will​​apply​ ​sunscreen/insect​​repellent​​when​​needed.​​The​​product​​provided​​must​​be​​in​​the​​original​​container​​and​ ​labeled​​with​​your​​child’s​​name.​
