editorial. It is usual to say something bright in the editorial; but this term has seen no scarlet fever or such-like with which the past few editorials (of whose subject matter we have spent many moons in fruitless study !) have been able to regale themselves. However, we should doubtless be thankful that no such catastrophe has marred the comparative success of the term. But bright remarks cannot be made about the weather, either. Why not? For two reasons— firstly, even if we cannot think of anything else to write, we scorn to expouse so trivial, and in any case so unmanageable a subject; and secondly, the weather itself has not been bright! The only answer to this is to cease from foolish efforts, and get down to the term in general. Though the Debating Society, started last Christmas term, seems to have petered out, yet two new enterprises, welcome to various types of people, have done much to relieve the somewhat gloomy existence of winter. The new venture of presenting films in College Hall on Sundays has, with one mishap, proceeded successfully and has gained much popularity. Meanwhile rehearsals have already begun for a performance of the Trial Scene from Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, which it is hoped to give towards the end of next term. The heroine, though somewhat microscopic, has a powerful (when raised-) and intense voice, and we hope that he, or should one say " she," will not return next term with the voice less delightfully feminine ! Unfortunately the O.T.C. Camp had again to be cancelled on account of illness in the School. The year before
