The pleasure one feels in meeting all one's friends again after the Summer holidays is inevitably tinged with regret at the thought of the changes wrought by " the whirligig of Time " and of the gaps of which one is conscious in the ranks of the School. Perhaps these gaps were rendered especially noticeable at the beginning of this term—at any rate to the members of the senior forms—by the absence of Mr. Rammell from the place he had occupied for so many years. However, it was not long before we were able to welcome him again, and see still greater proofs of his keen and lively interest in all the activities of the School. But the alterations were not all personal. By the end of the holidays most of the scheme for the improvement of the school buildings had been carried out as arranged last term. New changing-rooms have been built for Castle House and the Hostel, while the old Day Boys' changing-room has been incorporated into School House. For several years it had been felt that the accommodation in the boarding houses was inadequate, and, as the members of the houses will readily testify, the improvements supply a great need. Also the old gymnasium has been converted into a Carpenters' Shop and a new changing-room for the Day Boys. On the site of the old Carpenters' Shop, a very fine gymnasium has been constructed. This is larger and much more airy than its predecessor. It was completed shortly after half-term and is now proving itself an invaluable addition to the school. Undoubtedly its constant use almost every afternoon is the most telling testimony of the extent to which it is appreciated.
