editorial. SPEECH DAT AND THE O.T. REUNION.

Not even in the realms of fancy could there be two more beautiful days than July J3th and I4th. While the sun shone from cloudless skies, there was a cool and gentle breeze, sufficient to prevent the atmosphere becoming heavy and airless. We can find no better word than " perfect " to describe that weather. And in perfect weather what function such as this could fail to be a great success? Full details of the Speeches, the Concert, Cricket matches, and O.V. Dinner will be found elsewhere; it is sufficient here to say that Canon Hannay made what a local paper very aptly called " a charming speech," enthusiasm at the concert never flagged, the inspecting officer described the work of the Corps as " a very good show indeed," and the School beat the O.V. in both ist and and XI matches, which is as it should be.

CONGRATULATIONS. We must add our necessarily belated congratulations to the many others that K. N. Ross and G. E. Churchill have received on both getting Firsts in their Classical Moderations at Oxford. As the Headmaster said on Speech Day, this is no mean achievement, and one of which the School, as well as Ross and Churchill, may be justly proud. As a result of his success Churchill was given a Classical Scholarship at Hertford College.
